That's not easy! You'll have to rely on eBay, Reverb or Facebook (The Vintage Sonor page is a good spot). Since they've been out of production since the 90's you're at the mercy of what people are selling. You'd be more likely to find a bad condition drum to pull parts from than a full parallel unit on it's own, though. Good luck!

Yeah, exactly! There are two little plastic pins that hold the mic in, at first they can be a little awkward, but once you get used to it you can pop them in and out without having to get down there and look. \m/

@@Nicko_1976 there are less than ten of those that exist. As far as I know, my house might be the only place on earth with all four variations of this. Both 14x8’s (10 and 12 lug), the 14x4 and the ultra unicorn 14x6.5 all with the copper hardware. 🤤🤤🤤 …that 6.5 cost me nearly triple my car 😂😂😂

Thanks! I got super lucky with all of those. About 25 years ago all the local shops in my city got new cymbal displays - so I cleared them out of all their old ones. I've got like eight of them on hand :p Check with music shops, sometimes you can buy their old racking. And it's possible that cymbal brands sell those displays to shops and could sell you new ones - potentially, I don't know if that's the case any more. It was back when I grabbed these.

Btw., sonor didn't make the prize. The collectors want and pay that amount of money!

@@rockdahaus You are right Rock. But with mid level kits like Yamaha, Pearl, Ludwig and DW offer, you wonder why any of us would pay 5 times as much for a kit that is better, but not 5x better. Talk about birch kits, have you listened to the Yamaha Stage Custom. Of course you have. Spending 7x more on a Sonor is somewhat questionable after you've heard those. $720 for a 4 piece plus snare or an 8 piece for $1400. An 8 piece Sonor kit without snare, for what, $12000? Yeesh!

@@user-yq5od9uj3f what's better, is a personal feeling. I like sonor, i played many other brands kits. Nothing is like sonor for me... but then, i don't like the sound and feel of a sonor kit if someone else tuned the drums. And in a mix, you can't hear the difference. I own a 800 bugs kit, i own a 3k bugs kit. With the right tuning, in a mix? 1 in a million is maybe able to hear a difference. Determine which one the cheaper one is? No chance!

@@rockdahaus You're right Rock. As drummers there is no way of pricing that feeling of connection to your kit tuned to your sound perfection. It's priceless. That is of course you can afford. LOL.

Yeah! This thing is cool. Its one of the few Chinese made Sonor's I've kept in the collection. There's probably less than five I kept around. It's a nice drum! I'm happy to have one. :)

Yeah man! There are plenty of lessons back in my upload history - probably a couple hundred videos on here. Or if you're a Drumeo member, I've got over a thousand lessons in their member's area. :)

@@RainMakeR_Workshop I'm not sure, actually! My CZcams uploads are pretty random. There's definitely more of it on Drumeo if you happen to be a Drumeo member. I've been doing weekly+ videos with them since 2012, so for sure there's a bunch on this setup in there :p

@@Snarea51 I looked through what's available on CZcams on your channel and Drumeo. But I can't find any other vids playing this layout, aside from one where you can't really see the toms. I'd love to see something heavier on this kit, something that has lots of tom work. As I'd love to see it in action more. Every vid I can find has you on either a typical tom layout or your Mangini layout. But I'm really interested in this Marching Tenors style layout. Any chance you might post a vid here talking about it, showing how you use it and some of the benefits of it.

As for doing another video on here with it, honestly it probably won't happen - at least not any time soon. Just because I don't have anything like it set up right now, and it's a giant job to remake one of those big kits. This really is still the 'mangini' type setup, just rotated clockwise about 20 degrees :P

On the snare, do you mean? Those cross bars come off first, and then you can pop the head off like any other drum. :)

@@Snarea51 I didn’t realize I didn’t specify the snare bottom lol. I have one of these kits and I wanna change the bottom head but I don’t want to start taking it apart. Do you remove the 4 cross bars individually or the entire thing?

@@DrumsterFire hahah all good man! Yeah, just the cross bars. There are a few different designs of the bars, but all of them have some mechanism to remove on each end, either a slotted key bolt, or some knurled knobs. Just undo those, pop 'em off and it's smooth sailing!
