Never mind 5 months I've been waiting nearly 3 years to hear these beauties.
Merry Xmas! lol Sorry for being so slack on CZcams vids ;)
www.moderndrummer.com/article/october-2018-tooling-with-perspectives/
You can hear it here! And in a few other videos I've done for Modern Drummer. I don't upload to CZcams a ton, but I do articles in Modern Drummer and corresponding videos monthly. :D
Can't wait to hear a playthrough, that kit is stunning.
Most beautiful drums EVER!
I purchased mine in 1987. Still play it, still love it, always will.
same do I in VIE since the 80's - do you have the "heavy" verion (10*10, 12*12,... / with 12plies bubinga)?
Thank you.
Need to hear them sing!!
Pure Quality .....rarely made like that any more 🥁
Vidéo man !! :D This kit is amazing !
Played on one of these in 1990, maybe the best sounding kit i have heard to this day.
Nice drum kit, need to hear you play them.
great dude
new video on the sound? Love to hear those floor toms!
holy shiiieet, I want a kit like this!
Beautiful set Aaron. Which Evans are you going to use on this kit?
Cant wait the sonor réédition of the signature kit !
it will never happen, as you can get a SQ2 in similar spec
I have this kit in red lacquer. Was always remorseful for not ordering the natural! But the inside shells OMG so beautiful!
1SonorGirl hi would love to see your kit any chance of a video x
Man! What a Kit! When do we get to hear them?
HIT THAT SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
must give off a very focused sound eh , unlike the resonant teardrop which I find can resonate for days, with good head choice and tunning, I have a 63 -5 teardrop, man they are nice . the 20 inch bass drum is a boomer ,, those Bubingas are wild Aaron Sonor make some of the finest drums in the world.
Congratulations, once i heard that this kit was the best kit ever maid (google it) . Of course only Sonor can do it
I just purchased a Signature Series 22X18 bass drum in cream white on ebay, and it's on its way from Germany from a collector. Can you give me any good tuning tips specifically for this drum Aaron?
I thought that someone on Sonor forum after dissecting found that there are ply's of bubinga mixed in with the beech? Hence the darker plies when looking at the bearing edges? Was that not correct?
crazy!
I had the same kit back in the eighties it was the best sounding kit I ever owned and I wish I never sold it I am a jackass
I was lucky to get/buy THE SET in 2000 which I played on in the 80s -and- it's still incredible LEIWAUND und EINZIGARTIGes heavy bubinga
This is exactly why they started making everything LITE for that point on....Those drums there are probably from the late 60s early 70s but that snare drum is too much! I would love to hear it ... probably the best kit ever! A Nigel Olson type of kit 4 sure!
Thanks man! It's production date is December 1980, slightly preceding the launch of the Sigs! (thus the insanely low serial numbers) :)

So the only thing left to have is the 18x19 Floortom, beautiful kit and that backroundmusic is killer
PracticeVlog Thanks man! That's a track off our first album, 13/8bit :) And totally! I wanna get basically all the drums haha. I definitely want to find the 6" and 8" toms. It may be hard matching up the condition of this kit though. Thing is flawless
***** That song is great, reminds me a bit of blotted science with a funkyer approach, gonna pick up the album
"these sound incredible, can't wait to show you guys what I'm talking about" *ends video*
Bahahaha yeaaah... sorry about that :p

that is what steve smith used on the escape tour that line.
Hey Aaron...I know this an old upload...but what did you have to pay for these??? I've head this drum set on Frog Magnus video and the sound blows me away!!!
hey man! my kit shipped from germany to Australia cost 4k total. and that was a bargain price :P
The toms are just PREFECT!! I have a Sonor Select Force and LOVE it, but the toms on your set drive me insane!!! Thank you sir!!
I would feel tempted to play the classic Phil Collins tom fill. "BABAM BABAM BUBUM BUBUM BUM BUM!!!"
Stunning detail, but the kick drum seems a bit small compared to the rest of the kit.. I was expecting a 26x20 haha!
Danny Thirteen hahaha man imagine how high the toms would need to be?! They're already WAY higher than I usually play them lol
Vidéo soon .. !?
Absolutely beautiful, but thank god manufacturers are out of the square-size phase now.
Still waiting to hear these drums. You’ve probably gone through 2 sets of heads. Come on it’s KILLING ME! That’s funny......2” longer than square on the floor toms. It the bass drum is 18” deep. Interesting concept. And the internal mufflers are a 60’s / 70’s thing. Drums around 1987 and after we’re showing signs of modernization and moving away from the earlier ways of doing things like in the internal mufflers. But that bass drum muffler is a cool concept.
my 9 ply 24 inch Phonic bass drum weighs a ton . Can't imagine how heavy these drums are.
You can basically recreate this kit using Sonor’s SQ2 custom kit builder system. Wil cost you about six grand minimum though.
Good music plays in the background of the video. Who is this?
Thanks! That's my band - Third Ion. The track is Van Halien \m/
@@Snarea51 Respect to you from Russia.
@@Dohil Thank you, sir! :)
Can I just borrow these for......a while?
bananas
why do you have a reso head on your bass drum when you gonna poke a hole so big at it. why dont take it of
oh shit i have one but with more toms
The inside of that last floor tom is pure perfection. I'm too poor for this, god damn it.
Tom Unwin I could hardly believe my eyes when I pulled the heads off that drum. The pinstripe on that particular tom was basically opaque, I didn't know what to expect and then I saw THAT!? lol. Floored.
***** punpunpun. Sonor make some gorgeous drums. I'm tempted by a Prolite whenever I can afford one, I'm torn between getting Creme White or Chocolate Burl... It's driving me mad!
Holy hell! The grain on that bubinga is INSANE! The toms are so tall, that seems like it could be uncomfortable to play.
Devin Buchhorn I thought it would be worse than it actually is. They're definitely a lot higher than I usually like toms to be, but somehow it kinda feels right with how the toms sound and feel to play.
***** Looking forward to hearing the play through. How did you discover these beauties?
How do you change the bottom head?
On the snare, do you mean? Those cross bars come off first, and then you can pop the head off like any other drum. :)
@@Snarea51 I didn’t realize I didn’t specify the snare bottom lol. I have one of these kits and I wanna change the bottom head but I don’t want to start taking it apart. Do you remove the 4 cross bars individually or the entire thing?
@@DrumsterFire hahah all good man! Yeah, just the cross bars. There are a few different designs of the bars, but all of them have some mechanism to remove on each end, either a slotted key bolt, or some knurled knobs. Just undo those, pop 'em off and it's smooth sailing!
There's a video on here somewhere of a guy servicing a 14x6.5 signature ferro manganese snare - that's where I watched it the first time before doing it myself.
czcams.com/video/G3G3V6J4A5s/video.html&ab_channel=DrumTuningWorkshops
This should help! :)
How do you play a topless kit then ?
Tesla Nick if you want to keep your bearing edges, hopefully after you put the heads back on :P
Motorboat them
I love my siggies!!!!
never ever post a drum video without playing them.
Bahahah it was the ultimate (albeit accidental) troll! Here you go ;)

Best drum never build ?
Exposed bearing edges freak me out!
I used to own that kit, i sold it, too thick...12mm the shell doesn't resonate atleast all
Good to know - I want to order an sq 2. Going to try them all out
that was the original intent of the signature line! the shell doesn't resonate! maybe you should have read up on the whole concept of the signature line before buying one haha!
i hate you...lol... torture to watch this....since I don't own :)
