next time the wife complains about a 200 dollar snare, imma show her this video :P fantastic collection sir!
LMAO! Yeah, this will probably get you off the hook! haha! Thanks man!!
They always complain about something 😂😂😂
@@ronz303 Bahaha it’s true! 🤪🤪
My girlfriend would tell me something like "But this guy really plays great". And then she would go online and buy a ton of shoes and dresses😂Anyway, that "little" 14x4 beast sounds insanely good, maybe the one that impressed me the most. I imagine how it sounds when it is tuned super low 🤤
@@markomarkovic5729 lmao! classic girl move :P And YEAH! It sounds killer down low! I'll be dropping some more videos soon with them!
So lucky! Please take me next time!!!!! I’m a Sonor lover but barely an afforded. Just was able to get an ‘84 4 pc phonic set, no snare. I hat myself everyday because I I was able to get one of AC/DCs touring kits back in the late 90s but sold it for money to go to the beach with my friends!?! At least I sold them back to Gary Asher( A local drum dealer/ collector) so I don’t feel as bad as I should. I need one of these but they go for nearly 8000 to 12000 now.
Oh maaaaan! Regretting selling gear is the worst! ...that's part of why I'm such a hoarder lmao. I bet that kit was a banger! I love my Phonics 😍
been here since like a decade. Nice to see you're still at it.
DUDE! I super appreciate the longtime support \m/ Thanks man!
Wow, that's quite a bunch of greatest Sonors👍 , royal pieces of drum gear history. I really liked the out of the box sound of that piccolo
Great demo playing and congrats from the Sonor enthusiast from Finland
Awesome! Thanks a lot, man! I can't wait to pop fresh heads on all of these :)
Great video man!!! They all sound FANTASTIC
Thanks man!!! I'm still overwhelmed by it! :p Studio vids coming soon!
I have a 10 lug and a 12. By far, my favorites. I will caution you about a couple things. They may be "tanks", but the protective snare gates on the hoops are quite fragile. I have seen several that are broken or have been repaired in some way. Thankfully mine are still intact. I would use some kind of case that has accommodation for the hoops when transporting. The other thing is that because of the weight of the drums, when left on the stand for an extended period of time, the hoops can actually cut thru the rubber snare stand tips under the hoops. Dw makes these things for their snare stand meant for a tom that helps to alleviate this. I believe they are made out of some kind of neoprene material. Best thing is to remove the drum from the stand when finished. Gives a whole new meaning to "put your back into it".
Dude! GREAT advice! I really appreciate that. Most likely these won't be leaving my studio any time soon (or possibly, ever haha). But I will 100% heed your warning with the snare stands! Appreciate it, bro!
@@Snarea51 My pleasure, enjoy!
now you just need a matching signature series copper snare stand!! Like mine!!! Congrats, I love my 12 lug. 3rd one in the USA in 1988.
I am definitely on the hunt for one of those! If you ever see one for sale, hit me up plz! 😍 I’ve got the chrome one to match my Ferro! And man, third one?! DOPE! I’ve got a similar thing on my Bubinga heavy Sigs. Both of my kicks have serial numbers under 100! Their production date is prior to the actual release of the Sigs!
Ridiculously amazing drums!
Agreeeee man! It’s been a week and a half and it still doesn’t feel real!
Excellent!
I never had love for the bronze snares (sold them everytime) but im thinking about getting a 590.
Chester Thompson baby!!!
Btw. I once had the only Signature Special Edition (maple) kit in jazz depth sizes.
Killer drums (albeit not for me)
The HD dry on the 12lug was my jam, the other two seemed kinda average. I guess that shows its all in the heads and tuning!
This was both dope and legit.
Thanks bro!!
They sound amazing!
Thanks bro!!
@@Snarea51I'm a chick not a bro but no biggie. I'm really happy for you. Those are really awesome snares and I'm looking forward to hearing how they sound mic'd properly. Super badass drumming btw. Really enjoyed it.
@@Rhythmic1 Oh shit! I'm sorry :p about 98% of my audience is dudes, so I just assumed. Thanks for being a part of the 2%! haha! And thanks!! I'm stoked to get these things recorded with studio audio. I've been going slow on that because I'm gonna match all their heads with fresh ones, but they sound so good as is, it's hard to get motivated to change them up haha!
Congrats again man! You should do a Sonor bronze snare comparison video! :D
Thanks man!! And, I'm definitely planning that! I got a giant box of fresh heads to reskin all my bronze and Signature snares for comparison videos :) Stay tuned!
I’ve been watching you many years and it always amazes me how you’re able to come across and acquire these drums 😂 I could only hope to one day own 1 quality bell brass/ bronze drum from a high quality manufacture. One day…
In the meantime you can build one, or something like it. Check out drum factory direct....
Bahahah thanks so much man! It's equal parts luck, and a lifetime of searching :)
Lots of suspicious sniffling going on there man. You gotta get of that stuff. Jk.
@@drumrboynoid LMAO! I mean... gotta get my energy somehow! lmao jk
you wont be getting a parallel action snare mech from china direct. @@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power
I just realized your Sonor logo tattoo on back your neck /awesome ❤
Thanks!! I got that a few years into my endorsement when my Beech Heavy SQ2 kit showed up (the Stratawood set). It sounded better than I thought acoustic drums could. My first tattoo ever was the mallet logo on my neck :)
Aaron, Dude.......the sound of the Bubblewrap alone hahahahahaha
bahaha!
Magnifico.💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks!!
Where can I get a replacement parallel strainer for HLD 580 snare
That's not easy! You'll have to rely on eBay, Reverb or Facebook (The Vintage Sonor page is a good spot). Since they've been out of production since the 90's you're at the mercy of what people are selling. You'd be more likely to find a bad condition drum to pull parts from than a full parallel unit on it's own, though. Good luck!
Some badass drums my man! What sound characteristics do you think Bronze offers that others woods or metals don't?
In the heavy cast type they’re a LOT louder while being extremely sensitive and it’s crazy the blend of how the tone responds between ghosts and rimshots is pretty crazy. They’re SUPER expressive in a way that just sounds wonderful.
I must be satisfied with my paiste 2002 cymbal snare..
And comes complete with a used snare head, well worth the funds
Bahaha I mean, they haven't made these things in 30 years, can't expect it to show up with fresh factory heads haha!
I've owned a signature horst link HLD-596 for the past 23 years and is easily the best snare I've ever played on. I would love to add a 590 eventually.
Dude, that's sick! I almost scored one of those from the same guy I got these three from, but John Tempesta got dibs on it first haha! Damnit! :P (Probably for the best, my wallet couldn't legitimately handle another at the same time lmao)
@@Snarea51 ah damn that sucks. I paid $1500 for it back in 2000. I'd like to know how many were produced. I heard before, and I'm not sure if it's true or not, but apparently there were only 100 made and 50 went to North America and the other 50 went to Europe. Sounds a little far fetched to me though.
@@paulguardino9878 man that’s dope! I wish I was buying drums back when these were in production. I wouldn’t hesitate! - you may be correct on those numbers, there are less than 200 of the 14x8’s. You’ve got something really special over there ;)
"Woah" ~Keanu Reeves
Baaahhaha best comment :P
The only other guy I've seen with that 12 lugger is Chris Dave JFC EPIC
Those 12-Luggers are rad! I'm stoked to FINALLY have all four!
wicked, 🙏
This was not an ONEboxing, actualy this was a TWOboxing Mr. BROron Edgar.
Threeboxing, after watching it entirely... you've got me on this one Dude! So dope! Congrats🎉
@@EdisonPivaDrummer Hahaha! Yeah dude! TRIPLE! I don't think I'll ever have a more exciting day hahaha
@@Snarea51 oh! You'll have.... bring the 3 to Brazil, my drum room, and watch me playing them... It will super fun! For me! 😅😂
@@EdisonPivaDrummer Bahahah man, these three weigh almost as much as me, and would probably require their own plane ticket lmao
@@Snarea51 what airport should I send it? Hahahahaha
Where did you find these snares 😮
I have some really good friends :p
Where did you find them? They look like new old stock from some shop
A friend in the UK had these, I've been eying them up for years lol!
The snares sound bright but the Tom's sound like hitting boxes.
Yeah, unfortunately it's iPhone audio! My studio glitched somehow and didn't save the audio files. I've addressed that, and there'll be legit studio audio videos coming. The snare and toms will both sound better in that situation lmao
Amazing vídeo as ALWAYS dude! What an ever growing collection! I'll send this yo My Sonor Fan friend Giuliana Merello, she Will dig it even more than I did! SUBLIME
Ahhh thanks so much, bro! 😀😀
Also wasn’t the 10 lug 590 model prduced in lesser numbers than the 12?
Yeah dude! Apparently there's only about 200 of the 14x8's I don't know how far under half the 10-lugs are. But they're definitely the less common version.
Can't go wrong with a 14x8 metal shell 12 lug....though I'm not crazy about the shape of those chunky lugs.
Glad you're making videos again, brother. Keep it up. And how about a walkthrough of your kit setup?
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Dude, thanks a bunch man! I really appreciate it :) That's a good idea! I should definitely do that up! - RE: Lugs - YEAH by modern standards, they're kinda hideous :p But part of me loves how just over the top 80's excess it is. They've got a spot in my heart and my museum lmao
@@Snarea51 😂 there you go; that's what matters. And they do sound good, especially tuned higher.
Looking forward to the setup video, and future spotlight videos on your impressive snare collection.
Holy hot dogs!!!!! Giveaway for one?
LMAO! ...Yeah, these ones probably won't see outside of Snarea51's vault ever again :P
So 5 vk snares.
Currently, I've got three VK's... but Alan is making me three more this fall!
Did Tama ever get sued for ripping off Sonor's lug design? (The first Tama Rockstars)
HAHA! Man. I know exactly what you're talking about! I don't think they did! :P
if Tama changed the lugs then a cease and desist letter from Sonors laywer was probably enough.
$40k pocket change
Gotta roll like a G! haha!
I worked for Sonor when we sold those drums. Great sound, but man were they heavy. I'm still trying to understand how you (over?) paid $40k for them all though...
Ditto. Did Sonor fucking gift these to this guy???!
I didn't pay anywhere near $40,000 for these. I just based that number on the highest I've seen them sell... I'll admit, it's kinda clickbait :P
@@jonn443 Man. I wish! As much as I didn't spend $40,000, I did spend more than I spent on my fuckin' car for these lmao
@@Snarea51 , that's some dedication for sound. Wow.
@@jonn443 I'd for sure rather have these than a cool car :P (Although, my car is pretty cool too haha!)
And I thought my Sonor kits were expensive…
Man. These things are the most expensive Sonor's you can get your hands on (unless you ever saw a Jet Set for sale... that would likely cost more!)
@@Snarea51 Yeah, that bronze is dope. As much as I love Sonor, I still like to eat.
@@rkaylor5769 Bahaha yeah man, I'm down with a month of eating light to afford these if I had to! *Thankfully I had no problem funding these, so food doesn't need to suffer lmao
That's an obscene amount of money to spend on snare drums that weigh a ton, look dated and sound no better than a good old Supraphonic...each to their own I guess🙄
Some stuff holds crazy nostalgia value, especially when they're ultra rare. There are less than 200 of these things out in the wild. :P I'm a diehard Sonor collector, so they belong with me. Not everybody's cup of tea, though! :P
@@Snarea51 I understand the collector vibe,I went through my own snare drum porn phase, then realised I'm a working drummer, not a museum curator and kept the 3 I use.A word of warning though, there is a 12 lug in the UK plus a 6 drum Bubinga Signature for £7000 and £15000 respectively that haven't sold in over 3 years...most people can live on that kind of money...🙂
@@andyspofforth171 That's tooootally fair, bro! Which three did you end up keeping? I dunno if/when my collector side will chill out. I've been playing music full time since about 2001 and like just CAN'T stop acquiring more drums lmao. I have hoarding issues. At least they're considered a business expense! :P
@Aaron Edgar I kept a 1979 Black Beauty,a Dunnett Titanium, and a custom built solid Cherry wood...one for every type of gig 👍Collecting is fun,as long as the drums get played...Gadd and Weckl only ever use one! 😉
Ahhh that’s a solid trio, man! And definitely! I look at it like a ton of variations on my favourite ice cream. I LOVE having a wall behind me where I can just swap any sound I want in five seconds. But. …I for sure have my faves that get a little more of the play time haha! 😂
Did you try Lp snare 14x8,5??.... Great sounding snare for abot 300 euro....
I've seen those, but never laid sticks on one :)
