That car is flawed. The bed is connected to the car in a way that if someone rear ends you, you have to pay nearly the cost of the car on repairs . I’ve heard horror stories on them getting rear ended and the cost of repair being a shit ton.

You talk about the affordability of someone being able to afford to charge their EV. If someone can't afford to charge an EV, they likely can't afford to purchase or Rent an EV in the first place. So I don't see affordability to charge being an issue.

They opened up their supercharger network to other companies to use. Doesnt make sense to scale back on their network . If anything they should be increasing it.

The lease is not bad but I live in the state of Delaware where currently Rivian doesn’t have Lease available. I hope they will offer in the next few weeks. Finance is bad right know due to 7% interest rate.

As someone that's owned EVs for over 10 years now (and am a current R1T owner), these are my favorite interactions with non-EV owners! I've noticed that people get more excited about my Rivian than any of my Teslas. It's great!

Just to be accurate, the number of Teslas on the road is not declining. Tesla will sell close to the number of cars they did last year at 1,800,000 sales. And overwhelmingly these will be new Tesla owners as most Tesla owners are still on their first Tesla. So this year there will be at least 1,500,000 new Tesla owners. And not only that, Tesla used-car sales are up 40% in the Q1, YOY.

I live in Florida and the FPL rates are regulated so they don't change much. At home it's $.14 kwh. I just signed up for their at home charging plan for $31a month unlimited off peak. Had solar sellers stop by my house but had to give them the boot, very shifty..

Duke- I heard your comment on lawnmowers. So true, very expensive. BUT, I have become an advocate. I bought a Greenwotks CZ60 R for $13000, greatly reduced. It is a big,capable commercial machine. We have ground mount 40 (420 at ea.) panel solar system, so mow the grass with sunshine. Much quieter & emisión-free. Lawn care in the US is estimated to be 5% of our carbon emission output… and, mowing equipment does not have emission control devices as do automobiles. Wait - can you please clarify: lease end buyout for your example was $58K or $68K? Why won’t Rivian tell me before I drop $1000 deposit? Also, you speak of how expensive the loan amount would be but are not taking into consideration what you could sell the vehicle for at the end of your 3 years if purchased. I have now watched 10 videos as I try to contemplate this transaction, and a true cost comparison has yet to be availed. Each just a half argument that defends his choice.😢

How it was handled was inhumane, petty and immature. FIVE HUNDRED FAMILIES had their world turned upside down because of Elon’s super inflated ego. And how you treat your people should the number one priority. Employees are humans. Your logic is completely wrong. There are not less Teslas on the road. They sold more last year than the year before. Tesla has a lower market share because there are more electric vehicles for sale. If the pie gets larger due to more options on the market, Tesla could sell more cars than last year and STILL have a lower percentage of the market than in the past. Overall the market is growing and expanding. Tesla’s market share has to come down as competition increases. Further, we do not have adequate infrastructure nation-wide for EVs. I cannot drive from St Louis to Northeast Texas because there is ZERO public fast charging of any kind in my destination city (pop 125k). There isn’t really CCS access in Southeastern Missouri. It’s very very limited. Same with Northeast Arkansas. Further, this move damages Tesla’s brand when it comes to landowners, utilities, etc as now there is a lack of trust. Trust and transparency are key in any business (or other) relationship. Musk screwed up. This was a bad move all around.

I think there are a lot of freeloaders who think they are going to use the charging network, and build nothing themselves. And the government doesn't seems to support those who really build something. But more importantly, the supercharger network is close to good enough, and it's a low marging business. In a year or so the RoboTaxi will need their chagers, and they will be located differently from what they had planned for the cars. And lastly, the leaders of that team didn't moved with the needed changes, and they were too many. Rebuilding from scratch might be brutal, but it will work. Al those complaining, have they built a charging network somewhere I've haven't noticed?

That was a good summary of what's going on with GM, Ford, Tesla and the US government. I hope Rivian starts getting some significant carbon credits. Yes, electric charging must be a loss industry and therefore need subsidies. For now, I will drive my Ioniq 6 locally and drive my Chevy Impala for road trips.
