    Duke, The Eclipse drained all the Teslas of their battery charge but the Rivians remained unharmed because the sacred ground of the Graveyard protected the Rivians.

    I didn't see any stars or planets. I heard some folks say they saw Jupiter of Venus. I was just looking at the eclipse. Also, there were lots of street lights that came on where I was. Tons of children and teenagers there. When it was over, a little boy was crying inconsolably because he wanted to see the moon. His father was explaining to him that he did see the moon covering the Sun but to no avail.

    7:00 The most surprising thing for me at the eclipse was how cold it got. I put my heavy Rivian sweatshirt on and was fine. Then I forgot to take it off and was hot in the traffic jam.

      I was surprised at the temperature drop as well. It happened pretty fast.

    This is the best eclipse footage I've seen and I watched all the news networks. I think during the eclipse you lose all of your charge which goes into the graveyard but then when the sun comes out if you're still there it transfers it back. You were lucky that you stayed there for awhile. The guy that wasn't asking you the questions was looking at you and the Rivian like you were aliens, lol. I liked that triumphant ride around the supercharger, reminded me of Ric Flair in his heyday strutting around the ring. As usual excellent humor and facts sprinkled throughout.

    I watched 3 minutes of totality at the Portage Travel Service Plaza on I80 westbound (Streetsboro, Ohio). I drove the ICE Chevy Impala and had a full tank of gas. After the eclipse, I stopped at two Travel Service Plaza on I80 easttbound trying to pee (successful) and get an ice cream cone (unsuccessful). There was a 50 mile traffic jam. All the gas pumps at both Travel Service Plaza had very long queues-maybe 6 cars a pump. All the food had long queues. There was a Supercharger at the first Travel Service Plaza but I didn't look at it because I needed my ice cream cone. The queues for food and ice cream were too long so no joy there. My Mom in Pittsburg had packed me 2 ham sandwiches. I drove back to North Carolina from Pittsburgh the next day. In the 50 mile traffic jam on I80 westbound Ohio, I saw 1 Chevy Bolt, 1 Ioniq 5 and many Teslas.

    It was smart to go to a graveyard because the street lights don't turn on during totality.

    7:32 It was cool how y'all used the moon roof in the R1S. Neat. I did not even think to use the moon roof in my Chevy Impala. I just leaned on my trunk. A lot of folks layed on the ground or their cars or brought chairs.

      It was a great view, but it would have been better if I cleaned the moon roof😄

    Just curious, do you have the babyseat forward-facing to get more space for the front passenger seat? I'm keeping mine rear-facing in a smaller car but shopping an R1S!

    • @thedukeofmanville
      @thedukeofmanville  Před 22 dny

      It was rear facing in my R1T, but it might be tight depending on how tall the passenger is. We haven't tested rear facing in the R1S.
