    I agree. I enjoy not having to stop and get gas periodically to and from work. It used to be a major inconvenience. After driving EV’s over the past decade, we haven’t purchased a gas car since. We do still own a gas vehicle as a backup or to take on road trips when we don’t’ feel like stopping at charging stations along our route. For those times we have to get gas, it feels so antiquated.

    Absolutely agree that charging at home is sooooooooooooooo satisfying! Come home, plug it in, and presto-changeo the next morning my car is ready to go again. Not only that, but the car knows when I am going to leave from home to work, and from work to home so it heats up or cools down the vehicle just in time for me to jump in and head out. Having an electric car was fun even before we got the home charger. But since then it is just a joy.

    I envy my wife not having to ever go to a gas station. I can't wait to work things out to get my R1T. Even traveling along the highway it's more fun driving even with the recharge stops. It makes you slow down and actually enjoy the trip vs pedal to metal grinding while driving. You are right
    So many people have to unlearn what they've learned

      @@thedukeofmanville Because it's so ridiculous. Especially when I bet the people who did it are happy to traffic in anti-ev misinformation all day long.

    We charge at home with car set up to charge between midnight and 6am at 4 cents/kw. Each kw provides 3 miles of real world range (air conditioner of heater running). Just plug car in to cord, no fuss or worries. Road tripping most times cost around 34 cents/kw, some up to 43 cents, most high 20 or low 30s.

    • @thedukeofmanville
      @thedukeofmanville  Před 2 měsíci

      4 cents per KWH is a great rate! That saves a lot of money plus the time not wasted at a gas station.

      This also speaks to that other point of contention, " THE GRID CAN'T HANDEL IT!". The reason those off-peak rates are so low is because the electricity generated during this time period has nowhere to go, so it would be great if it could be stored in a bunch of large car batteries.

    Hey, thanks a lot for always posting such awesome content. I actually bought an R1T because of your videos, and it's been absolutely incredible. I also happen to work for Rivian, and I can tell you that these vehicles just keep getting better and better at a rapid pace. They're not just throwing stuff at the wall and seeing what sticks; they thoroughly test everything before releasing it. The latest updates have been working much better too. I'm really proud to be a part of their team and so glad I made the switch from General Motors.

      Thanks! And you're welcome! Yes Rivian makes awesome vehicles, and the customer service is top notch as well. This is why we now own two Rivians. They are the best vehicles we have ever owned.

    I just installed my ev home charge and I’m so happy !!! This is my first Electric car so I’m learning … I’m glad I find your channel for learning and support! Public charging in Georgia is so expensive now 😮 not sure if I did the right choice but as I said I’m learning . Love my Kia EV9 ❤

      Congratulations! Yes, home charging or destination charging is the way to go. Try to use public charging for road trips only. So, how are you liking your EV9, and is this your first EV?

      Yes it’s my first electric car. So far I really like it ! The car has many luxury features! I just installed the home charger and has been great and extremely convenient. I’m a realtor and a lot of my friends changed to electric cars. I was very surprised with the increased on prices on DC charge stations from
      Electrify America lately and the cost seems very expensive for those who does not have home chargers 🔌 I guess. I’m happy so far but my insurance is also higher than my previous car ! A negative point to count, but happy so far 😊

      @thedukeofmanville  Před 2 měsíci

      @@Val_ATL That battery probably cost more than the vehicle. Kia imports their batteries from Korea, so they are very expensive to replace, but your insurance cost will likely go down over time when there are more parts available which will drive down repair cost. Congratulations on your first EV🥳

    • @thedukeofmanville
      @thedukeofmanville  Před 2 měsíci

      People Hate EVs because the industries that stand to lose the most money from the EV transition have successfully linked them to identity politics. Once identity politics is involved logic and reason take a back seat.

    Hey Duke did you account for those people who have EVs but live in an apartment complex that don't have EV charging available and they have to use public charging stations like EVgo or ElectrifyAmerica or even Tesla Supercharging stations? Love your content and channel but it seems like you are presenting what is fact(s) that pertains to YOUR unique situation in your neck of the woods in the US which may or maybe be fact(s) to others in different parts of the country. Keep up the good work though and yes I am going to report your channel for misinformation....LOL!!! :)

      90% of EV owners charge at home which is the overwhelming majority. This video compares home charging vs gas stations. I will do a comparison use public charging as well.
