I haven't read Michael Pollan's book, but I'm skeptical of his dietary recommendations. The channel Nutrition Made Simple seems to me to be the healthy alternative. It's all about double blind trials, etc., the gold standard of scientific research.

I love non fiction more than fiction 😭 and so many booktubers only read romance,fantasy fiction and it’s so cringey and lowkey boring to me. I always like a takeaway or learning something from what I read

I came here thinking- this would be so neat to have more thought provoking books- to find out that almost all the books mentioned were books I have on my To-Read list. I enjoyed your enthusiasm and I think will prompt me to start on my growing list, instead of picking up book spontaneously instead of forgetting what I jotted down not so long ago. I am intrigued by all of these recommendations! I mostly read classic literary fiction, but I did read Educated, which was compelling and well written. We homeschooled our children (now college grads and married) using a conservative classically liberal Christian curriculum rich in both western and world cultural history, while some mmuch more conservative family members chose a route somewhat closer to the Westover family (though not to those extremes, not at all, and they were never abusive -- they are a very loving, devoted family, very kind people). The differences in our adult children's choices, perspectives, and ability to develop relationships with those of differing worldviews are very telling. One of their six kids left home to pursue education (he's currently working on his PhD in history). He's almost the black sheep of that family, though he's very loved and loves his family as well. But there's a relational chasm created by a broader education that can't be entirely crossed any more. Westover's book was simultaneously illuminating, sympathetic, and critical. I recommended it wholeheartedly to my nephew. That book also helped me to regard my own in-laws with a fresh understanding rather than disdain. Ignorance is not the equivalent of evil, and black and white thinking serves no one. I can love them better after reading Educated, and while I'm glad we chose a different classically liberal Christian educational path for our own kids, I have a somewhat better understanding of their choices as religious fundamentalists who set out with the best intentions. I am adding the rest of these titles to my TBR. Thanks for sharing. As an aside, I'm interested in reading Being Mortal alongside researching the alarming euthanasia trends currently affecting first world countries in northern Europe and Japan.

I just read Parini Shroff's The Bandit Queens, which was longlisted for the Womens Prize for Fiction this year and I really think you'd enjoy it! If you ever get around to it, I'd love to hear you thoughts about it!

Also would recommend “ down the rabbit hole “ which I thought would be a fluffy stupid book , but I’ve read it multiple times … basically because of sociology… i would also recommend “ Little Girls in Pretty Boxes “ which is about competitive gymnastics and Skating , i’ve read it about 10 times no lie … another good book whixh deals with the sexual and even physical and mental abuse from gymnasts … is “ Start by Believing “ written by John Barr …. sorry for longest post ever

I had a lot of these books already on my favs , i have terminal cancer on 15th line of chemo and we just now found out the reason why i’ve had no luck is i don’t metabolize meds correctly… I also have biology back ground which is one reason we may like similar books ! i don’t agree with our medical system nor our prison system among other things ….. … i have read the one maladies book whixh i’ll have to check out ( oh and maladies is pronounced “ mal- a - dees”…

Love Lisa Jewell books currently reading my 6th book by her. They aren’t the most thrilling but I love watching everything unfold plus I get super attached to her characters🩷 Then She Was Gone, The Night She Disappeared, The Family Upstairs, and The Family Remains(sequel to TFU) are my faves 😊

I've read 6 Lisa Jewell books, including TSWG(4.0), and they've all been good reads for me 👍🏽 I actually really enjoyed Daisy Darker(4.5) 🤗 I had a really good time reading The Plot(4.0) I've read all of Riley Sager's books(except the latest one) and THATL(3.75) was enjoyable, but forgettable 🤷🏻‍♂ Couple of recent 5 star books for me... The Last Night at the Telegraph Club & The Second Ending ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s a stunning coming of age story that chronicles a female friendship in post-war Italy. Absolutely fantastic. And the TV series is somehow just as incredible as the books!
