You should definitely read Beartown by Fredrik Backman, it has amazing character studies (which is what I love about his writing) but is a much more serious and realistic plot. It was the only fiction book I gave 5 stars to in 2021 and I think you would love it too, especially given what you said about anxious people
Yes!! This is definitely on my tbr
Daisy Jones and the Six is on my TBR. I might read it after Beautiful World, Where Are You. I'm just finishing The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.
I haven't read Daisy Jones mostly because I don't think I'll like is despite the hype and based on your review, I think I'm right; I won't like it lol. I also gave Anxious People 4*. Finley Donovan is on my TBR though! I think I've seen the Cruel Prince cheap at like a discount store but not high on my list.
This is why I’m scared of hyped books😭
so excited to see you read the cruel prince! I'm nervous because its one of my favs and ik you don't love fantasy!!
edit: I just finished the vid and I am so glad you liked it!!! you should totally do a reading vlog reading the final 2 books. they are both so good
It was a pleasant surprise!!
I loved all 3 of these when I read them!!
You should do another video but with your subscribers least favorite books on your TBR shelf. Ha would be a fun watch!
This is a great idea!!
@@HaileyDanielle ha thanks!
I loved hearing your thoughts on anxious people, especially your thoughts before and after the plot twist. IFYKYK
I also felt like Daisy Jones was just fine. I think the audiobook made it a four but the more I think about it it was probably a three star read. She’s wasn’t that interesting as a main character and honestly the toxicity exhausting. I absolutely loved Anxious People but I think all your points about the idealism make a lot of sense!
I LOVE your reading vlog
Thank you!!
I felt the same way about anxious people, but at the same time I felt understood because I am 18 and a seniors and the thought of adulthood and the responsibilities I’m gaining feels overwhelming and I have no idea what I’m doing. It was like 3.5 stars for me, I loved some parts but some parts also felt too perfect and some were even confusing
Yep! Great message, meh execution
I highly recommend giving A Man Called One by Fredrik Backman a try! It's my favorite read so far this year, BY FAR! As far as Daisy Jones, I agree w pretty much everything you said. It was good & I still really liked it but I prefer how Evelyn Hugo broached the subject of toxic Hollywood in that era. I'm still really excited for the TV show tho bc the casting is chef's kiss. The Cruel Prince series I loved specifically for the vibes. Of all other YA fae books I've read it's definitely the most fairytale like. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the second book, it's the best in the trilogy imo!
I’m definitely going to be trying more Fredrik Backman!
Anxious People has been on my shelf waiting to be read for a while. I want to get to his Beartown trilogy too.
Beartown seems super interesting!
Nice !!!!!🧡
Fredrik Backman being my favourite author, I would really appreciate if you read other works by him (some of them are SO MUCH better than Anxious People) 😊
I had trouble with anxious people - although the ending made it better. Beartown series is really good
@@kristinpoturalski1651 Anxious People was like a 4 star read for me whereas Beartown, Us Against You, A Man Called Ove, And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer and Longer were all 5 star reads. Especially the Beartown duology - those two books are my all time favourites :")❤️
Yes! Definitely have a few of his other works in mind :-)
I also didn't love Daisy Jones and the Six it wasn't bad by any means but I didn't connect with any of the characters and you're absolutely right it's actually really sad. I've read 3 of TJR's books so far I loved Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo but felt a little underwhelmed by Malibu Rising and Daisy Jones & the six. I still adore her writing though and want to read more from her!
She’s definitely a very readable author!
Anxious People did NOT work for me at all. It was confusing and all over the place (imo). I hated that he never just referred to characters by their name, I kept forgetting who was who. I almost wrote off Backman after reading it, but I gave Beartown a try and thought it was amazing!
The lack of names was definitely disorienting!
I dnf’ed Daisy Jones and I don’t think I’ll ever pick it up.
Didn’t live up to expectations imo :/
I DNF anxious people twice - finally got the audio book which was great. And i thought it was a 3⭐️ until it had a great ending. A weird book for sure. 4⭐️
I think it was a couple vlogs back you mentioned that you had yet to hear someone who didn't read and love daisy jones and deliberated commenting and basically saying "well consider me that person!!" lol...I feel almost affirmed that there's someone else out there that didn't quite get the hype/connect very well with the book??? Just wasn't for me I guess, and I think reading along with the audiobook like you did was the only reason I finished it. I AM intrigued with how much you love her other novels tho and they're on my TBR!!! happy thursday hailey :-)
Yeah!! I expected more Bc of my expectations from others haha
Honestly I see a lot of people that don't like Daisy Jones & The Six, my friend group is literally like half of us love it and half of them hate it hahahaha
quick question,is randy orton your brother O3O
Hahaha no😂
RIP I hated The Cruel Prince
Wonder Woman? 🙂
I love TJR but Daisy Jones is my least favorite book by her. I liked the fact that it was all dialogue but the story was so boring and repetitive to me and I didn’t care about anything. I was really waiting for a plot twist like in Evelyn Hugo but it never came, by the end I was just like "that was it?!" It just felt so pointless lol I really don’t understand the hype for that book at all. I’m glad that somebody seems to agree with me
I agree! Quite anticlimactic.
I love Daisy Jones & The Six but I don't like Daisy Jones and I HATE Billy
He really kept her wanting :/
