The advantage of worm gear motor is high torque, low rpm, and low noise. Also its unique feature is self-lock. But compared to planetary gear motors and spur gear motors, they are not as durable as them because of worm drive connection. I ever buy micro worm gear motors from HOTEC MOTOR, like HT-WOG46, HT-WOG34, HT-WOG58...impressive with their quality .

Incredible, my grandad worked there as a pump attendant when it was in service. Just after the restoration had been finished we took him to visit and they stopped it and asked him to restart it for them. Was years ago now but very happy memories

A man and his workshop... I recently retired after 36 years in aerospace manufacturing as a machinist tool fab and assembly person. I have a small shop with a lathe and mill where I can go and do stuff and keep myself occupied. Can't imagine being without it. Good job on the valve.

At 72, I too can deal in Imperial and metric, so I know where you're coming from. At age 16, I commenced an engineering apprenticeship with a company that owned 100% imperial calibrated machines. Pretty soon, I realised that the extremely weird measurements were Imperial measurements, converted from ISO. It was at this point, that I realised that the Imperial system was finished. Congratulations, USA, on a par with Myanmar.

I had another wonderful time in God's own County this weekend John. On Friday I went to Woodhorn Mining Museum Ashington - what a fantastic experience, packed full of social history, echoing the determination of the mining community in overcoming adversity. I enjoyed their fantastic exhibition of ex miners paintings too. I also went to Amble harbour and Blue Sky boot sales yesterday but wasn't as lucky as you at rescuing preloved tools. Loved your work today too John. 👍

I love rescueing quality tools at car boot sales. Its becoming more & more difficult to bag a bargain. Because of the Internet people have more access to research their items.

Also got a similar thing at the flea sale, but mine was a little brass buck. Plus the one time at the scrap yard got a nice set of 5 brass vases, which I gave away.
