John, Before retiring I sold a lot of Anchorlube. If I could offer some advice? It can be thinned a great deal with water. This makes it go much farther and you can thin it to the consistency you require. My customers would use plastic cups with a magnet glued on the bottom to hold them in place. Using an acid brush to apply is much faster than squeezing the bottle. You can leave it open exposed to air because only the water base evaporates. If it gets too dry or thick you just add water and stir it with the brush. If you need it thicker just add some Anchorlube to the cup or use the squeeze bottle to apply as you have been. I don't know if your friend stocks the gallon bottles but they are far more economical and can be used to refill the 8 Oz. squeeze bottle. Josh Topper at Topper Machine here on CZcams has been using it lately and has demonstrated its versatility and discussed thinning it. Love your videos and am wishing you well as you get closer to 100,000 Subscribers! Thanks, Dana

Many say it grows mold if not kept in the squeeze bottle.

@@65cj55 Personally I have never had any customer mention a mold issue. From my experience using it myself in my own shop I never had any issues leaving it exposed to air. As I mentioned in my comment I found if I didn't use it for a month or so it just got dryer and was easily reconstituted by adding some water and stirring. On the other hand I can personally attest to the fact that growing up in a CNC and Screw Machine production situation that cutting oil wasn't exactly a joy to be around after a month or so. I'm sure anyone who has any experience using water based cutting fluid (As I have!) in production machine tools didn't particularly relish cleaning out a sump after the cutting fluid became rancid! I vividly remember in my youth having to scrub and flush out the sumps with bleach to prevent any remains of the old fluid from contaminating the new!

@@65cj55 Thank you for providing the reference to Practical Machinist. I found it interesting that the only posts I located there were from 2020. Two or three posters there mentioned Anchorlube and possible mold. As I mentioned in my previous post, I have never had any customer mention anything to me about it and have no direct knowledge of it? I can honestly say you are the only person to ever mention it to me. I enjoyed the Poster there that wrote "Lathe coolant is bacterial soup..." Seems like someone other than myself has memories of the sinus clearing effects of rancid lathe coolant. Another poster wrote "I found AnchorLube was really good in certain applications. I never had it go moldy, but quit using it because the surface of it would thicken up into a somewhat dry paste, with a liquid phase deeper in the container. Had to shake it or stir it to avoid squirting the watery part, like the ketchup squeeze bottles at the ball park. You could add some water to it to get its consistency back to normal." He then went on to say "Altogether too much fuss". Funny, I never considered stirring or shaking my cutting products "Altogether too much fuss"!
I certainly will enjoy John's experiences and opinions as he uses the Anchorlube on his future projects. I think his product reviews have been quite honest and insightful and I would expect no less from him.

Finally someone who realizes you do NOT need a ton of Anchorlube to male a cut.

I reckon his best bet is to measure the pip left on that parted off disc, halve it & mill that amount off.

Yes..... but its a parting-off tool and so it would be in the groove and constrained from moving sideways whilst cutting.
