A man and his workshop... I recently retired after 36 years in aerospace manufacturing as a machinist tool fab and assembly person. I have a small shop with a lathe and mill where I can go and do stuff and keep myself occupied. Can't imagine being without it. Good job on the valve.
Great job on the valve John. Your miner is made from spelter I believe. Great steal on the job lot mate, wish I could find small parallels like that down here in the smoke!
you found some great stuff John I have my Grandfather's machinist jack made by Starret that little minor is so cool it would go along with my minniing stuff !
I love rescueing quality tools at car boot sales. Its becoming more & more difficult to bag a bargain. Because of the Internet people have more access to research their items.
Yea that’s true , sadly the best barings are usually at a sale off the back of a house + shed clearance where everything’s just to be sold not actual repeat stalls people. In the past iv been told “50p” for an immaculate record G clamp for example and I always pay more as it’s a dishonour to their father , grandpa whoever the tool belonged to. Great video John like the square body valves , always like to see a bit of soldering 🏴🇬🇧👍🏻
Also got a similar thing at the flea sale, but mine was a little brass buck. Plus the one time at the scrap yard got a nice set of 5 brass vases, which I gave away.
I had another wonderful time in God's own County this weekend John. On Friday I went to Woodhorn Mining Museum Ashington - what a fantastic experience, packed full of social history, echoing the determination of the mining community in overcoming adversity. I enjoyed their fantastic exhibition of ex miners paintings too. I also went to Amble harbour and Blue Sky boot sales yesterday but wasn't as lucky as you at rescuing preloved tools. Loved your work today too John. 👍
Some day John, you'll realize that things that have been silver soldered, are hot. 😁

It's good for a Mans Mental Health to have somewhere to tinker.
Spur center for a wood lathe…..it drives the work between centers
Those cutting tools "Whistle" when working brass makes my dog think she is being called.
Nice boot sale haul, that dubious quality allen key is a plumbing tool radiator fittings
Big allen key is for house radiator valves i think

Nice work on the needle valve assembly. Also great car boot sale finds.

Great video. Could you show how you clean the extra solder off the brass and make it look so clean?
Thanks. Bob.
