At 72, I too can deal in Imperial and metric, so I know where you're coming from. At age 16, I commenced an engineering apprenticeship with a company that owned 100% imperial calibrated machines. Pretty soon, I realised that the extremely weird measurements were Imperial measurements, converted from ISO. It was at this point, that I realised that the Imperial system was finished.
