Converting a Flux Welder into a MIG Welder
zhlédnutí 21KPřed 3 lety
In this video I go into detail how I converted a cheap flux core welder into a full MIG welder. I bought a broken MIG welder and used the parts from it to convert my Titanium 125 to accept shielding gas. If you want to do this conversion yourself you will need a 24 volt gas solenoid and a 12 volt relay module. If you do a similar swap with a different welding machine you may need to use a diffe...

What's up guys! Here is a overview video on how I built my CNC plasma cutter. I'm planning on doing several more detailed videos on this subject, but I wanted to start off with a cliffhanger to get some buzz going. Who would have thought a helmet that keeps a dog from biting themself would save its life in another way. 😮
Does it still work after tho?
@@B1rd-L0ve yes, shake it and it goes back to normal.
@@StrangeGarage thx, I tried it and it’s so cool, it took me like 2 hours but it only felt like ten minutes 😅
I heard you can screw the mig tip off too, because there isn’t any need for it bc no gas. Is that true?
How thick was that metal you were working on? Do you have it connected to a 20amp outlet? I just bought a similar HF welder and I'm constantly flipping my breaker right when it starts to get hot enough to penetrate 3/16"
Theoretically you could just swap the 15 amp fuse with a 30 amp fuse no??
@@reid1510That's correct: it would work until the wires melt and your car catches on fire.
@@StrangeGarage ah no big deal I had subwoofer wires rated for 400 rms hooked up to a 40 amp fuse and a 1400 rms amp that’s sketch man 🤣🤣
Thank you my mechanic said it would cost me a blow job but this got the job done 🙏 thank you so much
Bro spending 8 hours doing this and got 998 likes Your video is cool this has to blow up!
Hey, just wired the air horn as you suggested. It doest work. Do you think it's possible i blew out the factory horn fuse?
I needed this video, but subscribed because this WORLD TRULY IS A STRANGE PLACE. 🥴

Great video! I immediately knew my welder had another issue, but still watched your video to the very end.
Thanks for teaching us brokies cuz i don't have great tools or tons of money. I'm now subscribed
Definitely saved me money
Nice video. Plan on making signs from skid planks. I too have a cnc. Keep in touch with me. Just picked my planer from HF. Dan

Thanks, appreciate the help! 🤙🏽
Thank you! I bought a barely used CE 125 for new muffler bracket install and small projects. I heavily debated upgrading to Titanium 125 afterwards with 25% coupon and you just saved me some cash. Lot of folks saying CE 125 won’t do as good a job but all CE 125 vids show it’s a decent welder for weekend garage guys like me. I’ve run several practice welds with it and it’s totally solid. “It’s all about the puddle”. Thanks SG!
Do you think this welder can handle 1/4"? I know that it isn't rated for that originally
I just brought a new starter, battery, and refurbished the alternator my car comes on with jumper cables but once they come off the car stalls in 5 seconds do you think it might be the loose terminals
Awesome job..Luv the sound
Thanks. My positive terminal won’t tighten down and I was freaking out because I knew I wouldn’t be able to squeeze hard enough to put on a new one like the factory connection. Your video showed that I won’t have to. Thanks for taking the Boogyman out of it for me. (66 yr old grandma) On my way to the parts store. Thank you!
Can someone link me up on how to get a fire truck horn ? And is it hard to put on its own switch ? :) cheers 🇦🇺
I know how it feels
So the 125 amp should have more penatration right? Good video by the way
Can damaged terminal be causing my battery light to come on?
Absolutely, yes.
What if i am trying to wire a train horn with my factory horn that is activated by the factory horn button located in the steering wheel. But i want a toggle switch to be able to use either the factory horn or train horn
Guys don’t try it took me an hour……to fill in a quarter of it
Yeah it took a long time for sure. It works though.
@@StrangeGaragedoes it still work after?
I’m a 98 year old retired fisherman, thank you for making it so easy. My mechanic quoted me $175 plus $33 for parts. Thanks again
Do u really need to cut it ?
I'm by no means a pro welder, hell I've only welded a couple times, but it goes to show that even a little bit of prep work (bevel) makes a whole world of difference.
I have the harb.fr.campbell-Hausfeld can you show changes inside to go reverse polarity?
Sounds good!
This was great thank you. Only thing is, what about that relay switch that comes with it? What's it for?
My 1st bike was a 1980 Honda XL 80 .... GOT IT ON MY 13TH BIRTHDAY IN 1980....
beewax and heavy oil mix(manual transmission) solid, soft and slightly sticky. stays on drill bit and flow when heat up. for diff, saw dust and oil. nothing that can dry. veg oil on stainless flows better than mineral oil.
If I had ever tried drilling through 1" stainless with a HSS bit.... I'd still be drilling....😂😂😂
Bro that intro was great 🤣🤣🤣
It's funny, because I was super irritated when it happened 🤣
I bought the wolo Dixie horn wiring isnt my issue its finding a spot for 5 horns and a compressor 😂
Much appreciated 🙏🏾
I just had good experiences with HF. Years ago I needed a reciprocating saw for a small project in my bathroom remodeling, I paid $29 for this rather ugly dark red thing, not only it did the job but it's still working after years of abuse, old hard redwood, thick nails, tree branches, steel square tubing, the thing won't die. I also got a rotary hammer drill (small jackhammer and concrete drill), same thing, $80, perfect. An other example is a drain shovel (narrow shovel), great strong steel, fiberglass handle (much easier to dig for planting stuff in the garden than a regular shovel), $14 compared to $45 at HD, and I got junk from HD, I broke a (digging) pick, bent weed fork, ... I wish HF would sell material too, the orange store has almost the monopoly on house projects and they price as they wish. I'm thinking about getting this planer, deciding if I really need it (it would take space in my shop). Thanks👍🏻
What do u do if u cut off 2 much insulation? Electrical tape? Does it matter which terminal u do 1st?
Where did you get the larger horn?
What amp is that inline fuse you installed, 15 amp or 20? What brand is it?
Just a tip but you should never show the before and after of any video Until the End giving people the results right at the beginning of the video makes it less likely that they will watch the full video
My suggestion is not to wire cnc's with internal drivers using boards such as grbl because they just don't have the current to run the step motors to get half decent results.
Thank you so much
You are welcome!
I think was a good idea. I’m glad you took the challenge.
Dude can I pick your brain on something? I wanna build something for my kids room to store his Nerf guns but I don’t have any friends that are smart enough to answer the questions I have and I can’t seem to find any help on google either

Lard, Mineral oil and paraffin wax. By volume, about 35 % Lard, 50% Mineral oil, 15 paraffin, roughly speaking... prepared on a low heat stove to melt paraffin and then allowed to cool.
