  • Today we start my new claw machine build. I'm very excited to show you guys what I have planned! I have most of the supplies I need in house, but still need to fabricate the jaws (instead of the usual junk claws they usually like to use in claw machines). This is going to be fun!

    Hate to hear of your lung surgery. Hope it is 100% successful. God bless.

      You know, recovery was long but well worth it in the long run! Thank you for the well wishes!

      @@StrangeGarage I'm very glad to hear that. Keep those lungs healthy. I made it past my last October expiration without the meds that would have made me nauseous 24/7 for 3 years. So, the Good Lord takes care of us old fools. lol
      Next time you're in Arkansas, look us up at Max's Garaj Mahal. I'd like to hear about your lung problem and who knows, you might want to take a ride on one of the World Land Speed Record Hustler Zero Turns. Another one is being filmed in the process of becoming the next Land Speed Record Holder for it's class.
      God bless.

    Do you plan on making a video or maybe recommending a few good sources on how to produce the electronics required. Thank you in advance👍

      Of course, working on it now. I'm doing a build video that's going to have lots of details.

    How did you make the supports for the control panel? Assuming that they are 45 degree angle instead of a standard 90 degree piece of angle

    • @StrangeGarage
      @StrangeGarage  Před 7 měsíci

      So a 90° joint is two 45° miters put together, a 45° joint is two 22.5° miters put together. Whatever joint angle you're building your cuts are half of the angle. Start with flat stock or wood and experiment a little, you'll get it. I used to build shower doors 10-12 hours every day, so it's pretty ingrained in my brain.

      Is that piece of angle iron that’s stretching horizontally across from both of those angles just a standard price of angle iron tho? Or is it custom made to fit on those angles. Thanks for responding!

    • @StrangeGarage
      @StrangeGarage  Před 7 měsíci

      @@cara_johnson18 it's made of multiple pieces of flat bar so it changes plane with the curvature of the front profile.

    45+45=90 right? Lmao "no 90s"

    Cool, claw machine! Looking forward to seeing it in action! Question for you, I have a welding job coming up and and I am worried my HF 90 Amp welder is not going to get the post hot enough to produce a strong weld. I have to weld these 7" gate hinges for a heavy gate to a concrete filled 8" round steel post. I am in NE so this time of year the steel is cold. Would it make sense to take my heat gun to the steel post and warm it up real good before I weld the hinge on to help the HF 90 produce a strong weld?

    • @StrangeGarage
      @StrangeGarage  Před 4 lety +1

      How thick is the steel? Yes preheat is a must anything over 5/32" in cold climate. If it's warm i get good penetration on 3/16" steel so it can do reasonably thick. Bring a propane torch, that will help with penetration! Good luck!

    • @tedh7543
      @tedh7543 Před 4 lety

      @@StrangeGarage Thanks Taylor. The post is probably 1/4" thick so I most definitely will need to heat it.
