- UPDATE: The book wont be out for a few weeks (I will DEFINITELY be sharing the link when ready) and Aunt Echie's (Echo's) Enchiladas will be next week's video, I flipped them, sorry! This fabulous candy/dessert was always made every time hubby went to visit his Grandma Frankie. And now I have the honor of sharing it with you. 5 ingredients, a fridge and magic happens. Hi Margaret!!! LOL! Oh yes, a whole box! I know this is no where near the baking level you do, but this is simple and just delicious. Hips be dammed! LOL!
@@yesterkitchen Hips be dammed indeed...🤣
Hi Jill. They sound delicious! I will definitely be trying to grandma’s recipe. Have a great weekend and I’ll see you soon, Dolores ❤️
HI Dolores! You are going to love them! So will your grandkids! Always great to hear from you!!!
This has been a favorite recipe in my family.
It is a wonderful no bake dessert.
I love that you know this one Dawn! You know how good it is!!
Wow, how easy! Looks so good! Many thanks, Jill. ✔😜
Hi John! Yep! Super easy, super good!!!
Looks yummy! Very different to my mom’s PB Candy. Mom’s was very simple: Adam’s brand peanut butter, honey to taste, and mix with enough powdered milk to form a soft but stable consistency. She would roll it out on a sheet of cling wrap, use a table knife to roughly divide it into cubes the size of gaming dice, then wrap it in the plastic to take with us to church to discretely parcel out to us restless young kids for good behavior. She was very into healthy cooking so it was as close as we got to actual candy on a casual basis. Loved it as a kid. My palette has (unsurprisingly) changed a bit since then but I still look back on it fondly.
I love your mom's version. There are so many different ones. My entire first chapter of my book is a discussion about how the brain works in respect of what you ate as a child affects what you eat as an adult. You just may be surprised! 😄
Looks so yummy. Thank you, Jill!
HI Joshua! You are so welcome! They really are yummy!!!!!
❤👍
Amazing the cake that you prepare! Like a lot how you made it friend! Excellent work! Have a good day! 🦇
You are too kind! Always wonderful to hear from you! Have a good day as well!!
I take off for chemotherapy, and hear your mother-in-law's mama passed. I'm sorry about that. I still miss my Grammy. But she sure left a winner!
I remember Mrs. D used to make these, or at least a full sheet Pan's worth, but without the crust. I didn't even attend her school, but her sister in-law worked as Lunch Lady at mine. It threw me for a loop one family Christmas at my mom's friend's gathering that these were on the table! Who needs mass manufacturing when the Lunch Ladies made them better, each and every quarter? I found the recipe, and I had to quarter it... But, I'm going to try it Grandma Frankie's way. My Big Grand Baby must have an opportunity to try this! Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I'm off to watch all the episodes of YesterKitchen I've missed.
Lydia!!!! So great to hear form you! Chemo? Oh honey, I am sending so much love your way. I know the chemo is going to do its thing.
Thank you for your condolences, she was truly special but so happy her story is in my upcoming book that you are about to get!! I've so missed your stories! Yay for the underappreciated lunch ladies! I know you and your big grandbaby will both love these! Take care of yourself my friend!
Great recipe will try 😋😋😋
Hi Frank! Great to hear from you! I hope you do! And let me know what you think!!!
My Dad was from Enid, OK my Grandmother was a great cook too!
Hi Ashley! That's so awesome! Lots of OK out there! Lots of love in Grandma's cooking!!
I'm planning to try this one when my grandniece comes to stay for a week next month. She's exactly the right age to be able to do all the steps herself (with supervision, of course). Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Hi Nicholas! I love that! You two will have so much fun and the best part is you will love what you made!!! Have fun with her!!!
@@yesterkitchen Every time she visits, she wants to spend time with me in the workshop ... I think she's going to be some sort of "maker", which might be woodworking, it might be cooking, it might be pottery, but I'm sure she'll stay interested in making things with her hands.
Those look delicious, I think I'll be making some in the near future. Do digestives work as a replacement for the graham crackers? Not sure I could find graham crackers here.
Hmm, maybe I should make them into homemade candybars? Just hand roll some sweet sausages, dip a side in melted chocolate, put them on a baking sheet, cover each with chocolate, and put in the fridge. After you can cut up some paper, wrap them like a burrito, and tie some cotton string around to keep the paper from unfolding.
Hi DefaultFlame! They are delicious! I hope you do give these a try! I dont see why digestives wouldn't work, the crumbs should have the same consistency. But if you do try it, I would love to hear how they came out.
Homemade candy bars are always a win! Sounds great, if you do send me a pic or post it on my FB group!
@@yesterkitchen Alright, I'll try to remember in case I make them. :)
I’m from OK!!
Then you are really going to love my book Jen! My mother law's story is 100% from there!
Peanut butter crack is a much better name, in my opinion 😅 this looks absolutely delicious!
Hi Kayla! LOL! They really are crack! I hope you make them!
