- Today we're travelling back to the 1940s to the long lost Marco Island Inn in Florida to make a very unusual and delicious cocktail sauce. We're also going to pay homage to McDonald's McDLT with a very special 1980s commercial starring someone we all know and love!

I was born in 2002 and I really take interest in exploring history, culture and time through food, I'm thrilled to have found this channel!!
Hi paimon! Welcome! I love that the younger generation wants to learn history though food! You have certainly come to the right place and I am so happy you are here !
One of my favorite cook books, I'm sooooo excited to this recipe cooked. Thank you for doing this one.
You are welcome Ann! So happy you have this cookbook! Try it you will love it!!!
Hey I remember you showing us that first book lol. Both books look so interesting Jill! Love the pictures in the second book. And I Love love love stone crab. So if this was made for stone crab how would it be served? The hot sauce as dip for the crab legs? I definitely could see this being great with shrimp! How funny is that commercial of everyone dancing around a McDonald’s item that Jason Alexander is holding ? 😂😂 Everyone on TV has to start somewhere! Great recipe my friend. Have a great weekend 🤗 🍸🧡
Hi Ryan! Thank you so much! Wasn't that retro commercial great! This recipe is specifically for stone crabs, I just subbed shrimp. So if you have access to them, make it exactly as directed, dip into the hot sauce. Its delicious! And let me know when you try it! Have a great weekend my friend!
I was too young at the time, but as an eighties kid I love watching old commercials. Guess what jingle got stuck in my head, and now I want a McDlt. The commercial is from 1984, I think? It could be later but I think the McDlt was shortlived. 1990, it held on longer than I thought. I've seen many people say they'd love to see it brought back. That's quite an interesting take on cocktail sauce. I wonder if there is more eco friendly packaging that could separate the lettuce and other cool toppings from the hot side of the sandwich?
Hi ablindgibsongirl! I'm an 80s kid too! I love those old commercials! Yeah, the McDLT was good and who knows? My guess is if they haven't brought it back by now, they wont. But that is seriously a guess. I'd love to be surprised!
And this is a great take on the classic cocktail sauce. I love it!! Hope you give it a try!
What a fantastic Sauce my Soul Sista!!!
Oh I love this Jill the hot and cold contrast definitely interests me and I have no doubt how amazing it is with extra horseradish for me please!!!! Awesome cooking and storytelling - The McDLT I'd never heard of it LOL!!!!!
Patrick! The contrast is just fabulous! If I wasn't making a vireo I would totally add extra horseradish! And no McDLT in Australia? It's okay, it was really just okay, container or not. :)
McDLT! Hadn't thought of that in ages, but I do remember that package. Crabbing off the causeway bridge is a favorite memory from my short stint of living in Florida. Thanks for the memories and that sauce looks delish BTW. Happy weekend!
Hi audrey! Oh wow, that's so cool that you used to go crabbing! That's something I've never experienced. If you do enjoy crab, you will love the sauce! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!
Hey, Jill 🍁🌻🍁. I enjoy the hot and cold 💖. Thank you so much for sharing sweetie!!!
Hi Phyllis! If you do, you will love this! Always a pleasure! 💗
Good afternoon Jill 👋, Thank you for sharing this recipe. I love when you said shrimpy‘s, my 10 year old grand daughter when she was about 4 would ask if she could have my shrimpy’s lol. A cute memory. Sauce looks good for my Shrimpy’s ! 👍🥰👍♥️♥️🥰. Have a great weekend my friend.
Oh really?? That is just awesome! I hope you make this sauce with all the shrimpys!!! You will love it! Have a great weekend as well my friend!!!
I seriously Love horseradish in cocktail sauce.
This looks like a sinus cleaner Jill!😉
I'm definitely going to try it!
You always do great stuff!
LOL! Let your sinus be free! You have to try this Bill, you will love it!!!
@@yesterkitchen LOL!!!!!
I have no doubt Jill!😋😱
Was going to post that commercial if you hadn't. My issue with McDLT was on the cold side you had a cold bun and a cold cheese slice. Who wants that on a cheeseburger?!?
Hi Jim! Yeah, it definitely was a gimmick. Hope the commercial brought you a smile!
I like it! Looks wonderful. And I can afford shrimp! ✔✅☑🏁😎 (I'm 1st, too,)
Yay for all of the above! Have a great weekend John!
