I have always treated my daughter like an adult. Some times you have to tone it down a bit. When those feelings get in. /girl feelings you know. My baby girl used to fall asleep on my belly with me watching fraggle rock. All of my family pets are buried in the back yard. I dug most of the holes, wrapped them in blanket and hugged their cold bodies and cried a tear. I loved all of them just like a family member. The last one we had cremated just a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to put him down but his bad days were far out weighing his good days after he suffered a mild stroke. He was 17 years old. I played pole position also with my daughter. WOW.

I met Jim in the early 90s in Bowling Green Kentucky I first saw them in concert in the same town in the 70s and I have been a fan ever since and he talked to me like he had known me all my life and I love him but in a manly way mind you!

Crossroads is a damned good movie, I agree. I just streamed it about 3 months back. Patrick Swayze was a hero of mine as a kid. Red Dawn was a HUGE movie in my childhood.

Piper, One of the coolest things that happened to me was getting a call from Atlantic Records a few years ago. AJ Deprimo had discovered an album of Black Oak shots I took around 1978-79 way before your time! But three of the shots made it on Back Thar and Over Yonder and a few of their webisodes!. This gives me awesome bragging rights between my friends. I can pull out the CD and say LOOK, I got my name on a Black Oak Album! The full resolution shots are here! I grew up my adult life on the road but not quite in your style. I lived out of a van, then a twenty foot travel trailer, then a 30 footer. I did Frisbee shows for many years maybe 30. www.flickr.com/photos/shanesflyingdiscshow/albums/72157632825476428. I give them a tribute here. shaneksmithphotography.com/2020/05/03/black-oak-arkansas/.

@@TheRealPiperDandy THANK YOU! I truly believe your dad has one of the most "FUN" voices in music history. His sound is distinct! Of course he assumes the stage like no other and has always had style. It is great to see that you turned out with your head on straight!

Enjoying these shared memories!! I was a big BOA fan and lucky enough to meet your dad , Tommy Aldridge and Stanley Knight before and after some shows in '74-75. Your dad autographed a Get Well card for a buddy of mine who couldn't make their show. He was so nice even though he and the band were huge at the time. Still love those guys ( RIP Goober) !! Thanks Piper!

Myself and two buddies moved your mom, you and Jim Jr. out of the Lodge. I remember your Great Danes (Geronimo and if I remember right Zeus?) they thought they were moving into the Ryder truck. I am still sad to be the one who closed that large gate closing the chapter of BOA in Oakland, Arkansas. I’ve always made an attempt to see JD and Rickie whenever they are nearby. I’m also thrilled to hear Nancy is doing so well, she is a class act! I really enjoy your videos, I’m sure you make your parents proud!

Sid Pierce the dogs were Geronimo and Maggie May! The old lodge is actually a resort now! It’s called the black oak resort! We should all go stay there and throw a party sometime!

I keep in contact with my step son who lives just a few hundred feet from the Lodge. His grandpa, Chuck Keckhaver drove for BOA. Just say the word, and the party is on! I feel a great coming on once this darkness passes!

Piper, I have been a BOA fan since the early 1970s. Enjoy listening to your stories! I saw the road interview with you and your dad and he said he was moving to his parents home in Black Oak. I heard him say he had never lived alone but I saw in an interview with a magazine he was married to the girl that sings in his band. Not trying to get personal or nosy but just curious.

+Brenda Ray Nope. They don’t even date. His last wife was a lovely lady named Donna Ruth. My mom was Fancy Nancy Mangrum and they were married 17 years, he and Donna were married over 10. He was married to my older brother Jim Jr.’s mom before my mom.

I love your videos! I’ve been a fan of your dad’s since day one, and that’s a long time! I’m 59 now and born in Little Rock. Still have family in Conway, Sercy, and Jonesboro. I’ve always wanted to meet your dad so if you don’t mind, would you please tell him this old Arkansas boy said hello and thank him for the music. BOA is the reason I have been a musician since I was 6! Big fan of yours too! God bless you and your family. All the best!

Loved those memories! I was born in 81, so basically the same age, and when it came to entertainment my parents never censored me. Heather’s was my favorite movie when I was about 8, and at 9 Beverly Hills 90210 was my favorite tv show. I went to private school and all of the kids and their families were very conservative, so I was the odd one out, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We got to watch all the cool shit as kids, we were not deprived!

I love the movie Crossroads (Not the Britney one LOL)! One of my favorite parts is when Willie Brown is trying to explain what the blues is to Eugene (Macchio):
Willie- "You ain't even the beggining of a pimple on the late great Robert Johnson's ass! You might have a little lightning, but you're missing everything else."
    Eugene- "Like what?"
Wille- "Mileage! You can't get that by living home with your mama wiping your ass."
Eugene- "I don't live at home."
Willie- "Oh yeah, where do you live?"
Eugene- "At school in the dormatory."
Willie- "The school dormatory? Oh times is haaard. TIIIIMES IS HAAARD!!"
    Another one:
Eugene- "Tell me this isn't Son House (Plays a couple of blues licks)"
    Wille- "Sounds like bird shit!"
    LMAO, Funny as hell!
