- Jim Dandy & Piper Dandy Off To Get Rolling Papers (There are no stores in Black Oak,Arkansas lol) Oh Lawd He Talkin'... AGAIN!! hahaha Just us being us, my dad (Jim Dandy Mangrum from the band Black Oak Arkansas) and Me, his daughter, on a trip to Monette to get some papers. I hope you enjoy!

My best friend at the time in 1973 his older brother got us both into Black Oak Arkansas I’ve loved them ever since & what a sound down to earth guy, Piper I can just tell you’re just so proud of your Dad & rightly so. Wish I’d seen them live back then😟 still would today if I got the chance, his voice is so unique, IMO the quintessential southern rock sound & charm, I listen to them a whole lot along with those boys from Jacksonville,long luv southern rock & long live Jim Dandy👍👍👍👍👍

I loved this band when I was a kid. I still listen to a greatest hits cd I bought now and then. I had seen them live when I was a teenager at a huge out door festival at Waterford Park in Northern WV in the mid 70s. They were not the headliner but there were big names there. Framptoms Camel , Black Oak, Humble Pie and J Geils. Then again in a big club in WV. I was working for the sound company. also in a theatre that I have worked in all of my life as a theatre tech when Shawn Lane was playing with them. He told me he 15 or 16 and was drinking milk after the played watch the next act. Shame what that talented young man went through later in life. God bless him and may he RIP. What a loss to the music world. He was going places.

Hi piper I seen your dad and black oak Arkansas in 74 or 75 it’s hard to remember that for back in Saginaw mi boy was i bused up that night but I remember watching jim dandy strutting back and forth across the stage and the music was so rhythmic and good great nite I think foghat

Ya'll are a pair! BTW, I was born in North Little Rock, the eldest of six kids in a Marine family and spent most of my life moving from place to place. But Black Oak was, and is, a big part of how I anchored in my home state. The band and it's music have always been a source of hope, joy, love and inspiration to me. Feel free to tell your Dad I said so. ( From a 63 year young fan and devotee!

and loved the band later i seen him work the stage and it was even better . It has been my favorite band since i was a small kid .

Overtaxed in MN. Accccccctualllly... I have that in the works!! I’m gonna have them come over to my house to do an acoustic set! And he knew he was going to be recorded that day, but didn’t know when. Hahahahaha so I rode around with him ALLLLLL day, including a trip to Memphis. I got hours of footage, he was pleased with it after I edited it and let him see it, so the next few videos will be the other videos from that day.

Looks like you live out in the country since I didn't see anything but fields for a while.Must be cool to have a father you can smoke a joint with and shoot the shit like a normal person. I never had that. My dad was a career Navy Officer. He retired like 3 years after he got promoted to Captain.
My father was strict. He hated long haired pot smoking scum that listened to that godamn rock -& roll as he called it. He became hard to live with during my teenage years when I came rebellious & did a lot of crazy shit.Later on in life we began to understand each other a little more.He passed away 6 years ago and I do miss him.

In the mid 60s i (and America) used to tune in to the static at 10:59pm then at 11pm sharp the KAAY 1090 Little Rock would crank up the power to a 50,000 watt super station that could be heard all over the US or at least Mid America and a DJ that sounded like he was so laid back (Clyde Clifford) like he just overdosed on downers would come on the radio I remember instead of Bubblegum Top 40 crap he played Jefferson Airplane and Creme ,Deep Purple it was awesome! As a teenager living in the panhandle of Florida, this was the only place I could hear album cuts of bands such as Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath and, of course Black Oak Arkansas. I became a fan instantly, hearing songs like Lord Have Mercy on my Soul and Uncle Lijah. Went out later that week and bought my first BOA album If an Angel Came to See You, Would you Make Her Feel at Home. I wonder if your Dad was aware of Clyde Clifford and his place in spreading BOA music?
Amazing how BOA had a following, but never hit big time. Some old rockers are still drawing huge royalties. Millions $$$. Jim is barely getting by. Probably on Social Security or something. Good salt of the earth man. Does he still own property in Arkansas? I'd love to see a "Cribs" version of his house. A friend gave me the " Raunch and Roll" album when I was 16, back in 1979.

SuperBandMom with a more than full time job managing a target during this pandemic, I barely have time to edit, let alone the HOURS of subtitle editing it would take. I’m sorry, I just can’t. 😞 it’s much harder than people think, you have to put words into a type of rhythm in the subtitle grid. It’s really hard. I wish it were easier, I hate letting anyone down. ❤️
It's not just the accent Piper, it's also the fact that he sometimes mumbles and changes ideas in mid-ramble which compounded with the accent does make him hard to understand. Reach out to me before releasing the next one and I'll see if I can process the audio in my studio and help make him a little more audible by evening out his voice, removing some background noise and boosting some of the more audible frequencies.
