    Ambassador for the State of Arkansas! Mr Jim thanks for your service to "OUR GREAT STATE". Purchased a couple of tunes I can't believe I didn't have " Hey Ya'll" and "White Headed Woman". Pure rock n roll thanks for it.

    Thank you Piper, for sharing this stuff...your pops is far too humble to put it out there, and if ever there was a ‘Statesman’ of rock n roll, it’s your dad!

    Mr. Dandy is a white 'Little Richard'.
    And as good a performer as Tom Jones.
    Keeping it live for an audience.

    Extremely cool to see this. He chose to do life in a uniquely original way that some traditional folks may not have understood, but has such a kind heart that his good deeds are officially recognized. Life Done Right.

    Piper, I’m from Jonesboro and felt connected to you after watching the first video of several. I decided to contact my dad for some reminders of the stories he used to tell of the past with your dad and some of the boys and thought I would share. So here it goes:
    In 1965 to 67 my dad was friends with Pat Daughtery, Stanley Knight, Ricky Stone and Tommy Barlow. They were in a band called Nobody Else and they were from Jonesboro. Your dad’s band and Nobody Else, I believe he said, were like rivals. One would play in Paragould the other in Jboro and vice versa trying to compete for the crowds and my dad went to all the gigs.
    He also lived with Stanley and Pat and boy did he go on about the parties and women and how much fun they had. My dad ran off to Vietnam and left when he said “right when it started getting crazy at the house. They had to treat me for crabs when I got to boot camp.” Lol. Anyways, He thought there was another local band called Strawberry Alarm Clock, or something like that, that had Jimmy Weaver in the band and I guess basically they all just new each other. Says he ran into Pat Daughtery in Lowe’s the other day. That just amazes me. Anyways, He remembers how great these bands were and how much fun they all used to have. Then, Stanley, Pat and your Dad joined forces, and he said, they were really good then. He said they opened up for Three Dog Night at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis and had a huge party at the top of the Riverfront Hotel. He says after that they went to California and blew up from there. He still keeps in touch with Diane Knight, Stanley’s wife, and says she and her kids are doing real good back in California! I grew up hearing these stories of parties and such and, matter of fact, Stanley Knight taught me my first guitar chords and song on the guitar, Dust in the Wind by Kansas. But I wanted to say that your passion for this has stirred up a similar interest in my dads old memories of these people and created some great conversation for us. So thank you for that!
    My dads name is Maxie “Dew” Stem. Maybe there’s an old untold memory or story in your dad who knows, it sure is fun to talk about! Hope this wasn’t weird...thanks.

    • @TheRealPiperDandy
      @TheRealPiperDandy  Před 4 lety +1

      Clint Stem no way dude that wasn’t weird at all! That rules!! And “The nobody else” was dads band before they were signed to a big label. They were actually on Stax records then and are in the stax museum! I’m seeing my dad later on today and I’m gonna let him read this one and see if he has any cool memories of your dad. I’m glad he made it back from Nam, since so so many didn’t. And the crabs story is hysterical hahaha

      @clintstem43 Před 4 lety +1

      Piper Dandy it’s crazy to me that all these dudes were so talented, cool and had the world at their fingertips but today, at any moment, you could “run into them at Lowe’s.” Thanks for taking the time to read these posts, taking good care of your dad and securing his legacy. They were not that great to us , growing up, but God do we love em now!
      Some more old stuff...my mom grew up in Wilson AR. She used to brag and tell me that she went out on a date with Jim Dandy one time, prolly in 65. She said “he was definetely hot and nasty.” Always made me laugh. Back then her name was Debbie Jones sister to Sam and Terry Carr. Everyone knew those crazy fuckers’. Anyways, love ya. Awesome stuff. Peace!

      Clint Stem I spoke to dad & he laughed extremely loudly and said awww hell I remember ol’ Dew!! He said he couldn’t tell me any stories until he found out the statute of limitations on some crimes. Then laughed lol I’m sure he was kidding, but he for SURE remembered him. ❤️✨❤️

Next time you are really way down south, drop by my place and I will pour you a beer, we can watch a game of rugby and listen to BOA and an Australian musician named Paul Kelly. You don't get a whole lot more south than Australia, of course.
