Piper i remember in 1975 i asked my dad if i could watch black oak on the midnight special. I waited all night and my dad came home about 5 minutes before black oak started jim dandy. Your dad came out in them white pants boots and no shirt about 2 minutes later my dad yelled go to bed and shut the tv off.🤣🤣🤣

That's funny. I saw the same TV show and my father had no problem with the spandex or anything else on the show. In fact, he was curious and watched the show with us kids.

Yeah he had white spandex on the first time I seen Black Oak on The Midnight Special 1973...I just realized why my mother watched the whole performance with me that night...lol...she normally only liked country music.I read some where the network made Jim put on 6 more pair of spandex before they would let him go on stage for that show....you'd have to ask him on that one....lol....another great Vid...Thanks Miss Piper..

Man, Jim Dandy and Black Oak were the absolute SH*T when I was a teen. A friend of mine worked their show and got a broken Evans Hydraulic 20" floor tom head from Tommy Aldridge. I finally convinced him to let me have it because he couldn't use it, but my bass drum was 20". The hydraulic heads were two plies and only one was broken, so I cut it away and played it for a few years. Jim Dandy was the first of his kind - amazing performer!

Sad I didn't grow up when BOA was huge. And even more sad I've yet to meet Jim (as far as I know anyway) buddy of mine Scott lives a few doors down from him and I gotta say I agree with Jim's assessment of cotton fisher on one episode 😂
