I asked my dad when I was 21, "I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm sad, I eat late at night, and basically all the freaking time. Is that hereditary?" He said;"Maybe." "And sometimes you eat cause you're hungry." I was like Yeah!. Now at 54, I eat twice a day. Not for a diet, it's just how it is.

Love all the pictures of y'all's family. Especially your beautiful mom and grandparents. Would love to see your dad's home place in Black Oak. Your dad has such a unique style. I Heard your dad and the band in Van Buren, Arkansas and it was the finest concert I was ever at. I had so much fun. Watching these videos and pictures show a beautiful family from my state of Arkansas. My favorite musicians are Black Oak Arkansas and Bob Dylan. Keep the Faith!

Growing up back in the 70s I was a big fan of BOA. I belonged to the fan club and used to write letters saying if the band was ever in Boston, they could stay at my house and my mom was a really good cook.
In 5th grade I had BOA book covers on my school books and was so proud of them lol. There was a record store in the next town and they'd call me as soon as BOA came out with a new LP and I'd beg my mom to drive me down to buy it. When I was 11 my brother took my cousin and me to see BOA at the Orpheum Theater in Boston and it was my first real live show and I was thrilled, especially when your dad pointed right at me and waved. Thank you so much for posting all your pictures and cool stuff. You are so cute and fun to listen to. You definitely got your inner and outer beauty and fun loving nature from both of your cool parents. Thank you again Piper, take care Sweetie, I love your style!

Bless you Piper for honoring your family! I just found you and love the stories! I follow Rickie Lee on facecrack. He is salt of the earth and so smart and deep. I remember hearing your dad and the band on my toot a loop radio as a very young kid. I was hooked at 6 years old! I come from a family of musicians and cut my teeth on Leslie West. BOA and The Allman Bros, went straight to my soul as I heard my roots in there. Bless the southern rock trailblazers! I would love to meet your dad and Rickie one day!

Awesome video! You're looking good! Keep up the good work. I LOVED seeing the pictures of your mom and dad! Made my evening! By the way, a little story for your dad. I got my son into Black Oak Arkansas when he was a young boy. And now, he has educated his whole Marine unit on Southern Rock and especially BOA. Their favorite saying...What would Jim Dandy do! And the answer is go balls to the stage, spring straight up and give em hell!! The Marines love Black Oak Arkansas and Jim Dandy! Guess I educated him well huh! He loves all of their songs but his favorite is Gravel Roads.

Thanks Piper. I first met the whole band in 1970. They know me as Valerie from Topanga. They use to play the Corral a lot up in Topanga and I hung out with them there. I remember in 1971 when the earthquake hit in the Valley where they were living. I called out of the house they were living in to see if they were OK. They were pretty shook up hence a song came out of that on Keep The Faith. I've loved the band since I was 18.

I am enjoying these videos so much. After hearing Jim Dandy, I bought the album and then saw BOA numerous times in the 70's in New York City. I used to play the albums at the beach in Westport, CT and so many of the kids thought I was really weird. I kept buying albums but had not seen BOA for quite a few years when in the mid 90's I saw they were playing in CT. The place had a stage that turned around 360, and it was a great show, though my wife thought I was totally strange, especially singing all the songs. Lots of fun years and still constantly listen to the music from the old albums to the new. Your videos refresh a lot of my memories.

What I like? ALL OF IT! Nostalgia seeing Fancy Nancy, not to mention the House!( I was just transfixed floored by how much the Prophecy rang true![ I was always being "mystical" & what not (It's what the crew really dug about me), but when I found out I was going to Ohio [never made it, truck turned on a dime for California!!!] I offered "The Prophecy" this site being one part of as well as how much emotion would fill me when I finally found it! also part of "The Prophecy" Jim's continued presence in Music Production, regardless his professing, "My Rockin Days have fell over." LOLOL! Always!
Love&Life Forever, Piper! (I am So f'n proud of you!) {now I want to play Pac-Man SO BAD!(I'd be back in the game room so long...) I also have to say< "Thank You for never making me feel unwanted, or taking my presence as a chance to make yourself feel big! It was always a Hallmark of your character}[maybe that will
spark a memory of me, being that was a very big conversation we had... ugh so many years ago.! mmmm, Goddess is Goodness.

Feeling almost like I know them from this video in some aspects which is cool. When I saw your dad in concert back in good ol' KC at Cowtown Ballroom it had dawned on me that it occurred on New Year's Even perhaps 1972? Anyway, we had the greatest time ever!! I recall your dad strutting out onto the stage for "Jim Dandy to the Rescue" and the funny expressions he'd make while performing just captured our hearts. So great!!! Your Dad and your Mum are very, very lucky to have a daughter like you. 😊. Moving on from that, I am quite new to BOA.. Despite me being along way off from my teenage years and being born and bread in London I was never exposed to your Dad's band that much. I had heard of the band of course but apart from a couple of songs I'd not really heard that much. But.. Having come across your channel I've jumped straight in and I'm really loving the band. Your Dad comes across as such a genuinely lovely guy and I'm about to go onto Amazon and buy a cd or 2. I don't know where to start really so I'll take a dive and get a best of and go from there...... Ps.. Your Dad may find this amusing.. but the way he says.. Hot.. And... Naaaaasty is something my crowd of friends have been using for decades after we heard it on a BBC rock show back in the late 70's when ever we are describing something we really think is cool. Although my throat gets rather sore saying it these days. Thanks for your videos and I look forward to the next one. Love from London, England . 👍

Hi Piper. I just found your channel and I’ve watched some of you and your Dad in the car! I really enjoy them. First of all you are so sweet and kind to do all of this! Your mother is very beautiful! Your Dad and her made a nice looking couple together.
Here is a short version of my first Black Oak encounter. I was a teenager in 1976, on a double date at the Black Oak Concert in a small west Texas town called Odessa. When your Dad started singing it immediately caught my attention with that one of a kind voice! I soon became paralyzed (LOL) when your Dad started doing a dance with a scrub board in white tight pants!! LOL All of us were quiet and couldn’t look at each other after that. I felt my face turning red and had only wished I was just there with my girlfriend and not the boys. What an education I got that night and a wonderful memory too!! I knew at that moment I liked musicians and guys with long hair! I ran out the next day and bought Black Oak album. Several years ago I had it professionally put on a dvd!!
You said you liked to hear the stories...
How could I obtain a signed picture of your Dad? Willing to pay of course.
    Peace and love!💜

Iron Butterfly was to be the top bill, I took my (what was to be my future wife) Black Oak played and blew away the crowd!!! Butterfly came on and 90% of the people left!!! I had just returned from "The Seattle Pop Festival" where I saw Alice Cooper for the first time,,, I thought wow,, what a great show if they were on the same bill. I knew a promoter in Ventura Ca. tried to get him to do a show in Santa Barbara with Alice and BOA,, but Two years in the making,,, Long Beach Arena,,,,,, Alice Cooper and Black Oak Arkansas!!!! what a show by both!! My wife and I moved to Arkansas in 82' yep,, I still listen to Alice and BOA,,, talked to your dad and Rick in Fayetteville a few years back!!

Out of interest, in the lodge photo, are the 2 guys on horseback the manager and the road manager and who is the bloke right at the back, behind the car? I don't think Rickie Lee is in this pic so I am guessing it is about 1976? Did Stanley Knight stay in touch with your Dad and Rickie and are they still in touch with Pat Daugherty?

thank you so much for liking them! so the guys on the horses are the Mgmt at the time, you’re right about that one. rickie strangely isn’t in this pic, but that isn’t because he wasn’t in the band at the time, it’s just cos he wasn’t there. the guy on the motorcycle is pat, the guy in front of the car is jimmy, and the guy behind the car appears to be Stanley but I’ll ask dad about that one cos I’m not 100% sure on that. everyone stayed in touch accept for Tommy, he didn’t wanna know anyone anymore after he left apparently. I’ve never even met him. pat, rickie, and dad still all talk, but sadly, Stanley passed away in 2013, they dedicated the 2013 Atlantic records album “back thar & over yonder” to him. jimmy hinderson (in front of the car) sadly died in 2016. 😞

Stanley had a great feel on guitar and I think he may have played the pedal steel tracks on some of their songs, with a deft hand. Jimmy had a great rock sound. If you get a chance let your Dad know that his vocal on 'I Shall Be Released' is so soulful that it is the only version of that song, apart from the Band's versions that is worth listening to. His work and that of the whole band on 'Sweet Delta Water' puts that song into my catalogue of essential tracks. Your reply has made my day, by the way.

sinclair whitbourne aww thank you so much! And I agree about I shall be released. I was raised on the documentary “the last waltz” it was literally on every day of my childhood at some point. Lol so I completely agree, the band is amazing. One of dads most favorite records ever is Robbie Robertson’s 80’s solo album with broken arrow on it and all that. So they were BIG in the Dandy household. Anytime anyone asks me a question on here, I will happily answer it, and if I don’t know the answer, or I’m unsure, rickie or dad are just a text away. ❤️

OMG & LOL...how ironic! I could've used that T you got on (Is It WHITE BOY) to wear today here in Ironton, MO as our courthouse square was visited this afternoon by [drumroll please...] BLM (Black Lives Matter) We just don't see that kind of frenzy in a small rural town where more than a few 'Good 'ol Boys' still fly the Confederate battle flag. Anyways, it didn't take long before the po-po outnumbered the crowd! Now, about the video & new you: you're looking marvelous...simply marvelous! And I'm a newbie subscriber having only seen you a handful of times. No way you look 40! And if you keep this weight loss up you'll start getting carded again buying barley pops and such, and you don't want that. ;-) I wonder where all you nice-looking Dandy kids came from...hmmm...could it be - Momma Dandy! (And her noble sire, of course!) She's more beautiful than any human deserves to be. Gotta be a Southern Belle from Georgia or Alabama(?) And the one picture of your mom & dad posing together made me think what a breathtaking spectacle it must've been to see them out together back in th4e day! Like observing two rare & exotic cats stalking through high grass (I guess Jim would know about 'high grass' based on your last photo - TaHa!) on a safari.
(Well dammit - I'm upset now! Just saw the .net site and that BOA was in St. Loui, 70 miles away, last month & I didn't know. Grrrr! Was it by chance canceled/COVIDed? )
