Im so sick of the Leatherface obsession. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was about the whole family.
Yes. There’s a reason « that » dinner scene is the one you see in every homage
True but the man wears human faces and kills people with a chainsaw he is like the pyramid head of silent hill. The story is more complex but his character sales tickets. Sorry I wish it wasn't that way but it is
Texas Chainsaw 3D (and the new movie) was the only one where Leatherface goes solo, and acts like 40+ years later story..with a 20 something girl we see at the beginning in 1973...
Also, for 70+ years old dude, Leatherface is in good shape in the new movie lol
I don't know why every movie focuses so much on just Leatherface, when the family was a huge part of the original 2 movies. He needs good characters to interact with.
Because Leatherface is the most iconic character/image from the original film, and the most franchisable figure. The thinking is simply that when the ticket-buying public thinks of TCM, they think of Leatherface and his chainsaw, and he's the character that you can do the most Jason/Michael sort of plots with in umpteen sequels.
That's why I enjoyed the 2 remakes with Lee E. Those did nice to fill all them in
I agree.
1:18 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) doesn’t have a sequel, it has a prequel. That’s kinda why it’s titled THE BEGINNING.
Also, while The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D does have some stupid scenes and some really cringey dialogue, it absolutely is not the worst movie in the franchise. That “honor” belongs to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 (1986) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation (1995), imo.
@@What.99 TCM 2? oof.
@@brandonspain12345 Yeah. I didn’t care for the dark humor in that movie at all. It felt more like a spoof than an actual sequel.
@@What.99 I haven't seen the next generation, but I remember being disappointed with TCM2; maybe I wasn't expecting a dark comedy, I am not sure, but I think Leatherface TCM3 was better.
@@penske_material Yeah, I think Leatherface: TCM3 is a much better movie. I loved the dark humor in it, and my favorite character was Benny because he got some of the best lines. It’s actually one of my favorite movies in the franchise, which surprised me because I thought the trailer for it was extremely stupid lol.
Cool, what a great way to start the 4th of July!
James Waan would have made a great Leatherface film.
I disagree
Agreed! He made Insidious, Saw…. And not to mention, the Conjuring, which is the best grossing Horror movie franchise of all-time.
@@JERSEYBOYPLAY2HARD I agree with your disagreement. Even if I were a huge fan, I wouldn't think he was right for the project. Wan goes for thrilling rather than terrifying and his films look too polished for the needed aesthetic (imo). There's nothing wrong with that, but it just isn't The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to me. And the whole story didn't sound particularly good either.
Did you watch the whole video? Because it sounds terrible.
rob zombie would
Let James Wan direct the next 1.
Happy 4th of July, everyone!!!
Had no clue this ever existed. Thanks for the awesome video and series :)
I think the problem with Texas Chainsaw is it doesn't lend itself to being a franchise without it going down very predictable roads...either sequels are going to be do-overs, or an origin story or goes for some tenuous connection to the original. The film world needs to embrace the original for all its brilliance and move on to something new.
Preach! It seems like Hollywood is really desperate to make that money, instead of focusing on new "original" ideas, they rehash classic Horror movies over and over. That's why I rarely watch a new Horror movie these days, it's only gonna disappoint me as a viewer. I'll rather stick to the classics.
I kind of agree with this. I think you’re right, but at the same time personal bias in me loves these characters and I do what to see them in other movies. Just need a director who’s passionate about the franchise.
If James wan made a blob remake I'd have a god damn heart attack.
Great episode. I would love to see you guys cover the Dennis Etchinson version of Halloween 4 that was approved by John Carpenter
Added!
Great video
Thanks!
Wan hearing Lionsgate's demands must have been exactly how Kevin Smith felt when he was instructed to write that failed Superman movie.
Texas Chainsaw 3D is far from the worst entry in the series.
It most definitely is
Agreed! It definitely was NOT if one sees all the sequels!
@@nickl9317 hell no L
@@nickl9317 I think the latest one is worse than 3D, but 3D was pretty bad too
I think the best way to do a sequel at this point would be to go a little bit meta with it. I'd have it that the first 2 films actually happened, but the 3rd film was actually an in universe movie that was loosely based on a book written by Stretch (hence her cameo), Then all the subsequent films would either be sequels/reboots/remakes of that film. Leatherface and Choptop get out of jail having been arrested soon after the events of TCM2 and find a VHS copy of the film, then they learn that there's going to be a convention where the makers of that film will be in attendance, so they crash the party. This way, it makes all of the films part of the same universe...sort of, and therefore they could have people from all of the previous incarnations make appearances.
would love to see it
I think the new movie had the right idea with the story, but they really didn’t understand these characters at all. Leatherface isn’t Jason, he’s not supposed to set traps for people and be smart and everything. Heck, he’s not even supposed to be doing all this shit on his own. He’s not an individual entity, he is a TOOL, a guard dog, if you will. He’s controlled by the family. It’s like they said “everyone loves Michael and Jason, let’s make him like that” without even understanding the character.
In my opinion, they should do a “soft reboot” of the original…make it a sequel, but pull a Force Awakens and go through the same beats as the original, just in a modern setting. They could make a seriously scary and fucked up movie. In my eyes, you don’t have a TCM movie without the family. I liked the new one, but it could have been better. I’m hoping the next one is closer to the original’s vision now that Leatherface is home again.
TCM 3D actually wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
I wonder if maybe sometime you could cover the Simon Tse Productions Halloween Anime... It's a super obscure topic that I wish more people knew about...I'd also like to see if maybe you could find some more info that I've missed in my research...
Should Do one on the unmade all American massacre where chop top survives.
“the best the franchise ever looked” - Hooper’s and Nispel’s version are the best the franchise ever looked visually.
I know alot of people dont like texas chainsaw but i honestly really enjoy it and i love leatherfaces mask in that movie
Michael Myers vs Leatherface? CANNIBALISM DIES TONIGHT!
I remember reading what his take was and it honestly sounded like the best TCM movie since the original. Especially if Tobe Hooper was involved and made an approval in Waan's ideas. There was many concept arts made for Leatherface's designs and he looked gnarly as hell. And we instead got TCM3D? Leatherface? And the horrible 2022 movie? Shame the studio REALLY f*cked over everything that had potential. 😔 😞.
2022 movie wasn’t horrible, it was pretty okay.
Tobe hooper would agree with anything he was just happy to get a pay check he signed off of Texas chainsaw 3D and promoted the film as a sequel to his original
@@thescribbler6079 He wasn’t happy about that sequel he just felt that he was too old to continue the franchise himself and sold it while recieving a small profit that he was oddly content with.
Right! I read it and it was cool to see Leatherface actually be scary instead of just being there.
Crazy thing, I remember Adam Marcus doing a interview on Bloody Disgusting around when TCM2022 came out where he shat on TC3D and said alot of the stupid shit in that wasn't his and his co-writer's fault, telling of what they originally wrote for it. My guess, take with grain of salt, all three writers were fucked over by Lionsgate (Makes sense considering Midnight Meat Train)
Adam Marcus in many interviews always blames the writers or producers on many of the flaws fans had pointed out over the years with TCM3D and JGTH so he can act all innocent instead of admitting his responsibilities. I just can't trust him. Regardless, the movie was made by so many morons over the course of it's production.
@@brandonspain12345 Eh, point made. Will say that the ideas he came up with in the interview actually did sound better than what we got in the final film. So... You know. XD Some benefit of the doubt, right?
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.
I absolutely love The Beginning! I believe the worst movie sin of these is to only worry about Leatherface and not the family
James Wan's TCM will be jump scares after pointless jump scares and big Exposition dumps every few mins.
Bring him back!
A PG-13 Texas chainsaw massacre? What was in the 8 ball these execs snorted?
@JoBlo Horror Originals I think of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film franchise like I think of the Psycho film franchise that both are proto-slasher horror films that were seminal in the revolution of the horror genre but at the end of the day both of those to films should be put to rest already especially the Texas Chainsaw Massacre should be put to rest just like Psycho was instead we should keep on getting Friday the 13th, Halloween, and A Nightmare On Elm St film reboots.
Thanks Heaven this movie was never made. There is ZERO need for another movie like that.
Aye bro, I'm from Victoria, Tx where stone cold is from. Slow your role. Don't crack jokes about Texas. 👀
I don't know why they try to explain why things are the way they are. This script was basically their version of Curse of Michael Myers. Jeezus its bad. Texas Chainsaw Massacre always gets the end of the stick when it comes to new films.
Man that new texas chainsaw massacre was so boring besides the kills. Had the right idea tho about making a sequel not a remake.
Agree to disagree. Texas Chainsaw 3D is in my top 3, only beat out by 2 and Leatherface: TCM3.
i would have spent money on this
7:37 Texas Chainsaw 3D... possibly the worse entry in the franchise? Over Next Generation? WHAT?!
Exactly what I was going to type!
@@gregoryseager9191 Congrats, you've failed.
3D is far FAR better than Next Generation! This joblo guy (who sounds like he smokes too much cigarettes) likely doesn't recall all the sequels! Plus 3D had Daddario so that itself was a massive plus!
NGL I am kind of unimpressed with this pitch. I liked TCM when it was very simple. Just a family and they throw us minor details like the Hitchhiker mentions being at a slaughterhouse along with his unknown "brother" (in that moment). He argues about air gun and I guess TCM2 also mentions it again. It was very minimal and everyone worked together. The Cook doesn't like to kill but he still brings the "meat" home to his brothers. Hitchhiker is a very loud boy and it seems Leatherface copies after him during that Howling scene. Isolating Leatherface from the rest, ruins the dynamic. Even though Leatherface 2017 isn't great, I enjoyed having Verna Sawyer because I was interested in seeing the dynamic between him and his mom. This is all just my opinion.
They should get this guy to make a wan turn remake
And the obligatory twist ?
#leatherfacetcg ? Leatherface: The Card Game?
😂watching the woke crowd getting smoked by Leatherface when all they did was pull out their phones to make him “go viral” was the cherry on the top
This plot sounds dumb as hell. So both drivers (semi and pickup truck) at the end of the original movie were in on it? Then why were they attacked? To put on a show for the girl they were gonna instantly kill? That's fuckin' stupid right off the jump.
Preach 🙌🏼
I love seeing minority directors make their mark! Even any foreign one who our culture takes notice because they take film to another level. Dario Argento's films are great.
the OG leatherface was the best because he was kind of an idiot who mutilated people. I hate that he just turned into Jason with a chainsaw
3d was bad. but, not as bad as leatherface and/ or the latest one from earlier this yr..
3D was actually worse than the lastest entry. I don’t know what crack you are smoking.
@@onedudethelegend the 1 from earlier this year, was a complete shit show. i think the crack is better, then the lead based paint chips you've been snacking on....
Texas 3D is far FAR better than Next Generation! This joblo guy (who sounds like he smokes too much cigarettes) likely doesn't recall all the sequels! Plus 3D had Daddario so that itself was a massive plus!
Texas Chainsaw is NOT the worst in the film series Texas chainsaw massacre 4 is the worst!
First of all, the newest Texas Chainsaw Massacre was the worst in the series. Second of all A PG-13 TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE ARE YOU KIDDING ME AND FINALLY NO CANABALISM YEAH THANK GOD THIS MOVIE DIDNT HAPPEN
The newest TCM wasn’t the worst that’s an over exaggeration of your opinion.
@@onedudethelegend oh yes it was. The most UNLIKEABLE protagonist in the series, no plot, YOU MAKE LEATHERFACE THE GOOD GUY YOU THINK THEY WOULD HAVE LEARNED FROM 3D Sally coming back Hello Halloween 2018 Leatherface has the most quiet idle chainsaw in history school shooting side plot that goes nowhere you could have cut that out completely and nothing would have changed I can go on. Atleast in the next generation you have Wilmer Slaughter. Atleast in leatherface Texas chainsaw massacre 3 leatherface is the most intimidating in the series and it had Ken foree. Atleast in 3D even if it's for a second we get Bill Mosley and some cool kills. The new one had nothing to offer anyone. It was the biggest piece of shit in the series. I can shit on that movie all day.
@@edyoung2621 TCM 2022 had a better story and way better kills in comparison to 3D. Things we have never seen in a TCM film like the buss kill. I think you’re being dramatic and over exaggerating.
@@onedudethelegend what was the story tell me the plot. I'll wait
@@edyoung2621 well buddy you’re in the irrelevant minority of who thinks 3D was any good in any shape or form. It sucks that I came across you 💀
Man, this sounded terrible. And even more terrible after the Lionsgate suggestions.
Very interesting...the problem is they want to give too much plot to Leatherface. And no, 3D is NOT the worst in the series. That is the Next Generation.
