- In today's "WTF Happened to this Unmade Horror Movie" we're taking a look at a series that has been dormant for over a decade, "Friday the 13th." Countless films have entered development, yet none have made it to cameras rolling. How have we been deprived of Jason Voorhees mayhem for nearly a decade? Was it bad scripting? Bad management? Or is it the lawsuit that just doesn't seem to disappear. Find out all of that and more on today's episode as we take a look at Nick Antosca’s “Friday the 13th 3D.”

#fridaythe13th #reboot - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I never had a problem with 2009 version. I grew up watching all of them and when I saw the new one I liked it and still do.
Best 20 minute intro in a horror film.
When I was a kid back in the 80s we used to joke around and say they would stop at 13 movies. They have made 12 of them. We need just 1 more. The prophecy must be fulfilled.
Sounds like somebody wants to get gRaped again.
I use to think the same too, can't end it with 12 films.then someone said would it make sense for Halloween to end on part 31.but yeah I see your point
@@jennyanydots2389 what? Like what does this mean.
@@user-jn1wm3tb8v My heated BBC runs not just your be whole but your entire life as well. I expect you to apologize to me, right now.
@@greenkoopa You want it to crossover with The Prophecy series? I'm in!
"Where has he been all these years?"
People forget, he's down there waiting...
I liked how he ran in the reboot.
He did in orignals too.
He didnt start the fast walk till pt6.
Teleportation from pt7.
First 20min in the reboot was epic
Bro I remember watching it as a kid and I remember the first 20 mins were super intense for me lol
I have a 35mm print and the title doesn't show up till the 2nd reel. Epic.
I hate the running because i started on pt.6 and because of how cool Jason looks when he walks like that lol
@@donnieg5249 But it seems more like a Michael Myers thing
Oh yea...Mears' schizoid running perfectly blends Brooker (RIP) and Ted White (RIP) especially scene where he's running up the path after Lawrence.
For those with a Jason Itch, I really recommend Never Hike Alone and it's sequel.
Do they hang dong though? My sister says that the only good horror movies are the horror movies that have at least one close up of a sweaty BBC meat hog under bright lights. My BBC is already heated over here.
@Jenny Anydots what?
One of the best fan made films I've ever seen. And that cameo? EPIC!
@@jennyanydots2389 weirdo
@@jennyanydots2389 about as funny as Amy Schumer
The sprinting change actually made him scarier.
I demand a sequel to '09 with Mears back behind the mask and wielding that blade.
Me too
The thought of Jason actually running is horrifying.
I just found the clips. I guess it's been a while since I've watched them.
I might be alone on this one , but I really liked the reboot.
You’re not alone
Gah I remember when this was being discussed. And the version of a reboot which had the brilliant idea to have the story explore Jason's father.....I'm sad to say it's probably a good thing we haven't had a Friday movie in over a decade. I'm still going to see whatever they eventually throw out there, but it seems those were not the best choices to go with.
i have to say it, the idea of the lake healing jason and him getting stronger everytime he dies are ideas that could have work in the original saga, they could have even be really cool additions to the classic jason
The final cancelled Friday project was written by Aaron Guzikowski, Nick Acosta wrote his a few years earlier!
"One wonders how the writer thought blah blah blah...." I continue to be amazed by the number of people who think writers have the ultimate power over what goes into a script. Anyone who's worked on a movie knows a writer puts up with a LOT of notes/demands from a director and producers. They don't necessarily make these decisions on their own.
Furthermore, it's impossible to judge how a film would have turned out by reading an unused script. If you read some of the most classic horror scripts ever, they seem pretty dull on the page UNLESS you imagine the film in your head while reading it. A good director can take a trash script and make it seem like gold! Not saying that would have happened here. Just saying it does happen
2009 was an amazing film, should have carried on from this
This movie was amazing and there should have been at least 2 or 3 sequels in the last 13 years.
I personally like having the wait 30 mins to to see Jason make a full appearance, it’s been a while since a Friday The 13th film, and personally I’d enjoy the slow and haunting return of Jason 🤷♀️
Sounds like they were really trying to go for a Halloween vibe with Jason. Calling him "The Killer" in the script and the costume mask as a kid feels like a heavy handed rip off of The Shape.
I think they handled the rape scene really well though. You can push the age limit but you have to be classy and this movie franchise is all class, that's why they get away with it.
If the rights got cleared up, I’d try and get the guy who did “Never Hike Alone” and see what he would do with a new movie.
No. This fan film was shit.
@@user-qc2wu6tb3w although I can appreciate it as a fan film it's honestly not as good as people make it seem . It's boring , low kills and jason as great as Meyers or hodder . Needs more action
So, I read the script myself and I think you were a little hard on it lol. You’re right in that it does need a couple more drafts but even if they made it as is, it would have been the best Friday since part 6 imo.
I love having the lake heal him and make him stronger. It kind of makes sense of how he keeps returning.
Antosca was shortener for the underrated Channel Zero horror series
And he is also the writer of the short story “The Quiet Boy” which has been adapted to a film called “Antlers”. It’s one the most anticipated horror movies of the year ! He also did some work on the excellent and underrated NBC show Hannibal! 👌💯
I remember when the canned Halloween Returns was also going to take place in 1988, 10 years after the first and second, as well as the same year as Halloween 4, albeit different timeline.
It’s a shame we didn’t get a sequel to the 2009 reboot. That movie is really underrated and Derek Mears is an amazing Jason!
It's time for a GOOD Friday the 13th & A nightmare on Elm street. We just need directors and producers who are passionate and knowledgeable about the films and who aren't just looking for a payday.
Here is my pitch to Hollywood for a new Friday the 13th movie. It's very deep and out there, so hold on to your hat! Here goes: A Friday the 13th Sequel! You could even call it: Friday the 13th: The 13th! Here's where it gets deep...It's just a sequel! Doesn't have to be anything special other than being classic Friday. Crystal Lake opens back up in the modern day, and Jason returns to wreak havoc. He's back from messing with Freddy and just does his thing again.
The beauty of Friday the 13th is that people watch it for what it is. The more you get away from the original, the less people watch it. It kind of started with Jason Goes to Manhattan. Part of the problem was over saturation. They were pumping them out and that just gets people bored of it. And setting it on a boat and a little in Manhattan didn't help matters. Jason Goes to Hell was so far away from the source material that they should have just called it something else. Jason X...It's a future thing. You can call it an alternate reality thing. Just...Move on. Jason vs. Freddy was ok. It still fits mostly into the original continuity.
The problem with the reboot? There was no point! The movie could have just been another sequel and it probably would have been received better. But fiddling with his origin a little and basically portraying Jason as a pissed off farmer that is mad that they're stealing his weed...It felt more like a Deliverance reboot than a Friday the 13th movie.
If you want to get those fans back....And get the new ones' attention...Just make a straight sequel set in the world of the originals. Camp Crystal Lake. A summer camp, not a weed expedition. I mean, seriously, are we still doing that? Weed is legal in a lot of places and honestly, who cares? You can get it from any sketchy street corner! Cops barely give a damn! With meth and crack doing most of the business, weed is just the new cooking sherry. Let's move past Hollywood's fascination with kids obsessing with weed and get back to summer camps. Yes, you can have some potheads in it! They're funny and make great victims! Just don't focus the whole damned movie on it! This isn't a Cheech and Chong reboot! Anyway...We show clips of the original Friday in HD to explain the story of Jason and his Mom told by a campfire or something. People WANT that continuity! There are box sets all over Walmart every year and most of the new horror fans grew up on watching them or having their parents constantly watching them in the background. They know what is up and they want to see that story moved forward. It would work as a cheap pop, anyway, once! It's been long enough that we need a recap. Then, Jason enters! Mayhem ensues! Wash, rinse, repeat! And don't pop one out every freakin' year! Once every two or three years is enough. Let people have it, but let them also look forward to it. When it's once a year or a year and a half, people tend to groan and say: "Another one?'
If they just HAVE to have something different, hell, I've got a whole treatment myself that brings all of the stuff from the original movies together and actually tries to reconcile the time frames and so forth. I ain't giving it away for free, though. But, honestly, a simple return to the original formula that everybody loves on those box sets would do the trick. Jason is immortal, so we don't have to explain why he doesn't age. He's always going to want to come back and slaughter the kids at Crystal Lake. And you can have campers. I have no issue with that.
I like the 2009 version. It's a good representation of everything that made Jason great. Even the Nightmare remake wasn't bad in my eyes. If you'd never seen robert englund's freddy, Jackie's is fine. For some younger people I've spoken to, it was the first version of Freddy they saw and they prefer it to the original. They find the original too kooky.
We always see remakes of original films but I want to see a remake of a sequel.
Interesting video 🤔 Thanks for sharing 🤩🍿🎥 just give us a Friday the 13th film already... 😆
Idk, seeing a young jason in some scenes would be pretty kewl!
The damn court proceedings that also messed up the game
I swear there was a reboot sequel in the works years prior, “where has Jason never been? In the snow!” A year or two after the reboot, a follow up with a snowbound Jason seemed like the next sure fire outing. Then it just didn’t happen and the rights battles started. I’d never heard of this 3D idea until now and am surprised to hear it almost happened years after the snowy idea.

Well... at least there was SOMETHING. And if you think about it, that was just a first draft of a script, more than likely. It would have gone through a number of changes before even going into production.
I wish youtubers wouldnt do this coy "oh, pronunciation is hard thing" when you work on a video/search engine platform where looking up pronunciation would take up like, 1% of the time of that research that all the kill scene or production credit history would take
I know that it's the result of issues with the film rights, but can you believe that a series with 13 in the title stopped at twelve films!?
It's on account of the pre-teen incest rape scene in the last one. They didn't handle it real well. If they would of showed a little more class I think they would of been alright. Oh well. They know better now I hope.
It’s hard for me to believe someone would release a film with 3D in the title in 2015. Sounds more like a 2010 thing
I hope you do one for Halloween Returns
Friday the 13th "Part 13" the one with Jason's parents both being killers and then Jason being a killer... That script was fucking great
It was horrible or and changed everything that Jason was originally supposed to be. A victim.
@@amitypredator9385 FvJ also made him a victim. Where is your hate for this one?
Note, I said "ORIGINALLY". As in, Jason in the first movie was just a normal child, albeit a deformed one. He wasn't born a demon, as Jason Goes to He'll suggested, and that's what this script wanted. Jason didn't become evil until he his mother killed. As for
Fvj , that was the absolute wrong portrayal of Jason. Eight movies about an absolutely evil and sadistic killer and suddenly he has an almost child like disposition? Try again. I know the character well.
@@travzimmerman1340 He was in the original. As a memory first and then a nightmare. neither of which suggest he was a monster.
That was a horrible script so glad that was never made the Nick and Acosta script was the best one Bruckner sector direct from VHS
a 30 minute wait before Jason kills anyone would be fine if the characters were well written & well developed, but not if they're lazily written crap. Victor Miller is all for more Friday the 13th stuff, & what he did he was legally entitled to, but it was Sean Cunningham that made things worse by filing the lawsuit & constantly appealing the decisions in Miller's favor. He wants all the profits for himself because he is a greedy no talent hack.
Look at Sean Cunningham's body of work. Tiny amount of movies he directed, & Friday the 13th is the only one he is known for, but even then it would have been forgotten entirely if they didn't make a billion sequels, nearly all of which he he had nothing to do with. He did produce Craven's Last House on the Left, but that was a rip off of an Ingmar Bergman film called The Virgin Spring. He also wanted to rip off Halloween when he made F13th, so he is a complete hack which is why he never made it in the film industry.
It was quite despicable he approached Gun Media to make a Friday the 13th game, when he knew full well Miller had filed at copyright option & was going to sue him. Gun Media were making their own summer camp slasher horror game until this idiot gave them the license. He conned Gun Media, & he conned the fans.
You are correct. From everything I read, Sean S. Is a hack and is lucky to be where he is. Talent did not have much to do with it. Steve Minor did way more to put this franchise on the map than Cunningham did.
A back-to-basics Friday move is what they need; start at the end of summer camp with the kids leaving and the counselors deciding to have the weekend all to themselves and finish cleaning up as well as collect more money; Jason watches from afar until the kids leave then he starts stalking the counselors. In part 6 he didn't hurt any of the kids maybe because they reminded him of himself. In the comics Jason does the same with a little boy that also suffers the deformity. Amp up the violence; Jason cuts the front windshield and metal door of a car and decapitates someone about to escape, he spears someone from under the floor through the head and they stick to the ceiling, axe to back the rips out part of their spine, double kill with the sex couple with a throwback from Freddy vs. Jason with a folding bed, etc. Final girl 3rd act sees Jason getting shot a few times, set on fire and finally she/he rams a boat into his face as they speed off. Sole survivor brings cops to the camp and they don't find anyone. Jason and all the bodies are gone. They arrest her/him thinking it was a made up story because when they killed their friend and buried the bodies somewhere. As they are driven away in the police car, they see Jason in the treeline broken mask from the boat his and they scream there he is as we fade to black.
Jason full on sprints in part 2 and 3 as well he wasn’t always the walking killer lol
All they had to do was keep the kids at camp the whole time, and start the movie with the reimagining of Pamela's first onslaught. Keeping Jason in the shadows with crafty filmmaking (JAWS, HALLOWEEN STYLE) and of course some properly placed gore and musical score. This shit's a no brainer.
Exactly
Thank god. Do we need anymore of these movies? The first one was a knockoff of Halloween.
@@travzimmerman1340 (sigh) Yes. I agree. I'm just pointing out the slasher genre never really became profitable until the Halloween movie.
Without Psycho, there is no Black Christmas, there is no Halloween and there is no Friday.
There's a torch in the cabin by the Lake.
We just need a 3 part movie to reboot Friday the 13th. With a concrete story and build it up. Start in 1957 to the early kills when he has a potato sack. Part 2 he finds the hockey mask and make it epic like part 3 and 4. Then the 3rd installment Jason is a walking corpse risen from death! Go from There
In my personal opinion Friday the 13th should have had one sequel and that’s it. Jason was thought to have drowned but survived. His mom was avenging what happened and gets killed in the process. Then the sequel Jason comes back to avenge his mother and you guessed it he’s killed also. To me that would have made more sense.
Elements were good but I’ll take the originals anyday especially 1,2,3,4, and 6…. Oh and not forgetting Freddy vs Jason
Please cover the Aaron Guzikowski version of Friday the 13th
i wanna reboot , the reboot, the reboot, then the reboot !
This was my first Friday movie I saw and it scared the shit outta me. I was 6. I still think this is the best looking Jason.
This makes "the cabin in the woods" still so relevant, that movie is genius
Cabin in the Woods is garbage written for millennials.
@@lutherheggs451 its a fairly entertaining movie not the best but far better than most modern crap
When are we going to get another movie damn it's been 12 years now
Can’t. Dispute of film rights are going on.
The next one is called Last Friday The 13th. It stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker going up against Jason in the hood.
Saw the 2010 reboot opening night. Sold out crowd. 3/4’s in Jason garb including mask. So much fun!
*2009
Elm Street reboot was 2010
Now that the lawsuit is over, we just need Miller and Cunningham to come to some sort of deal. Money talks.
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe.😉
What's that suppose to mean? Was that a threat? Why wouldn't he be safe? Are you planning to do something? You should be put on a list.
This script was back in 2015, if they released it back then, then would probably likey be a failure bec of the kinda messy script... I think...
I like that Friday the 13th and I hope they do more
Fun fact: Jason's first on screen moment wearing the hockey mask is in FRIDAY THE 13th PART III at exactly the one hour mark.
People know this
My man
I think the futuristic one Jason x was interesting it was different the other movies
Derek Mears Jason is pretty bad ass. I take him over Kane but just slightly.
Like The X-Files, Friday The 13th was swell comfort food during it's many year run; I'm including the 2008 reboot here as well. Let's all take a hint from the former's disastrous attempt to revive THAT relic of an era that's come and gone though. If we have any respect for these venerated properties, let's allow them to rest in peace, and provide inspiration for what's to come
Dig the channel. Hope you decide to focus on fan films at some point. Womp Stomp Films has done cool things with Jason. And there's a great mash-up fan film where Jason Vorhees battles Michael Myers.
The Mickey mouse mask is actually a good idea and the picture of the idea has been out for a minute now. I suggest you look at it before nocking it.
Do one on the movie Bad Ronald
A slow paced Friday film wouldn't have worked. It would have been better to bring back the writers from the 2009 reboot to have written it and continued from that storyline. Now the lawsuit has taken another turn with Sean S. Cunningham now wanting to sue Paramount for unpaid royalties from the films
Would like to see our Jason Voorhees terrorizing the earth 2 people in a "Jason X part 2+". I hope they deal it out whatever they are on now.
That would be awesome 👏
No.
when I heard him say that his name is The Killer that made me sick this person wrote a generic script so that any killer could be used.
But... Why would Jason stalk and kill the little kids? He probably remembers being bullied by other kids as in Freddy vs Jason. There is a great fan movie series on CZcams. Don't remember what they're called.
I love it this would have been great, something people would have eventually appropriate.,
Trendy words are fun.
@TDW2364 - What?
How about Pamela resurrects Jason with the book of the dead from evil dead after he drowns
There's a comic book series called Freddy vs Jason vs Ash. Haven't read it in a while but if I'm not mistaken, they take a similar approach.
If a new Friday the 13th Sequel or reboot be made it should go back to original timeline by bringing back legacy characters from past films it could by bring back legacy characters with new characters make it a Whole new Relaunch.
Of course people will know who Jason is. He's part of pop culture now.
I’m glad that movie wasn’t made, just wish we could go back and change jason x before it came out
If the 3d was done properly like the final destination the only problem would have been that more often than not if 3d is later added to a movie it's not great for example T2 3d so probably a good thing it never happened
WTF wheres part 3 breakdown
I would've love to see a Friday the 13th movie set in the snow or a film in the style of the game.

As someone who read this script online, I can confirm that it was a bad movie even by Friday the 13th standards. There are moments where they try to flush out Jason's background more, but it's disjointed. I think the 13th installment needs to finally explain why Jason is supernatural. 12 movies of the mystery is enough build up.
You’re gonna play a Weezer clip for the stoner character, and not pick “Hash Pipe”?
the script for this is a bit of a slow burn (But, it has the proper vibe) Hopefully this story at some point gets used or some elements of it get used for a film..... Throughout the entire ugly lawsuit fans tend to see Victor Miller as the villain which isn’t fair at all Sean S. Cunningham has said publicly he doesn’t even like FT13 it’s just a cash cow for him (He went along with Jason Goes to Hell and that film is basically a “F-You” to all the Friday films
I really hate to say this But Throw Jason/ His Mother and the Name of the Movie out and have it take place at Camp and at the very least it can be a slasher that at least the Lawsuit can't stop. Just an idea while watching this.
what they need to do is a FREDDY V. JASON reboot!!!!
Wasn't it supposed to come out in 2017 but didn't due to "Rings" failing?
That was not the movie that is being described in this video. It was a different Friday that was pulled by the studio because of Rings. This guy seems to think a 2015 movie was canned because of reception to a 2017 movie. Aaron Guzikowski's script was greenlit by the studio and was 6 weeks away from filming not this 3D thing.
This was not a bad movie, the guy who played Jason was pretty good to be fair,it had some good kills init!
The court trial is over. Miller won. Now to get a Friday the 13th movie, all we need is Cunningham and Miller to put their differences aside, work shit out now that court is over and the decision has been made(Miller won). And either come together and work out some kind of an agreement, and shake hands and move on! Jason has been gone for WAY to long. And if the were smart, possibly work this out,or just give Miller a nice piece of the pie,or percentage of money. And then proceed to bring back the best slasher, and my favorite slasher,Jason Voorhees! And they need to have one hell of a script. #ASAP #PLEASE
Be careful what you say here, some of his fans are….. Well Bat Shit Carzy!

Honestly couldn't we just go to part 11? Does anyone really need Pamela at this point? I don't.
LOL everyone knows who Jason is….. EVERYONE!!!

Might as well call it
FRIDAY THE 13th ----CGI.
"that's what Friday The 13th is all about" but you criticize the script for the stock stereotypical characters.
Stoner character included. Maybe we need a Friday The 13th where not all the co-eds are dumbed down. Or a reintroduction to Tommy Jarvis.
I hate when youtubers are like, i don't know how to pronounce this name like, either just say it like you think and go on, or look it up? You work on the easiest platform to look up how to audibly say things.
My uncle/dad's says the same thing about the word sea men and the word be whole and the phrase "sweaty BBC meat hog". Too bad for both of you though, it is my heated BBC meat hog that is the law. Bow down son.
@@jennyanydots2389 jokes on you, I'm into that
Hey, why should he bother looking up how to pronounce the guys name right when he isn't even getting the right script, right writer or right Friday movie for the video in the first place?
I thought it was a 2017 reboot, not 2015
It was. This video is straight garbage. The only thing that is right here is that the reception to Rings shied the studio away from making a Friday film.
The script was written in 2015 and preproduction was about to begin in early 2017 and then Rings underperformed and paramount immediately pulled the 🔌
F13 series should've went Straight to video long ago, no reason these horror slashers budget should be 50 mil
Why would you care about the budget? It's not your money. Also they make money at the box office for sequels to be made so there is interest.
