- With the recent release of David Gordon Green's "Halloween Kills" we thought it was time to dive back into the Halloween franchise. While the series has had many ups and downs over the years, there always seems to be a new film in development. We're taking a look back at 2015, when the series was in limbo, and we were almost treated to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton's "Halloween Returns."

Personally, I thought that Halloween (2018) should have been titled Halloween Returns. It would have fit in smoothly with KILLS and ENDS since the '78 film was canon in this timeline.

I auditioned for Halloween Returns 3X for the character of Bear and got it, it was only during my contract phase that I was told the movie went on a beat and then eventually cancelled

@@dr.loomis4221yes but any murders committed by him in a place that is not haddonfield wouldn’t be attributed to him but to either a copycat or they would be in denial it’s even a guy in a mask. A real life example is how hard the LAPD tried to convince the press that the Sharon Tate and LaBianca Murders weren’t committed by the same group of people.
The bit where Michael cuts out Rogers' tongue and puts the mask on him is taken from the comic Halloween: Nightdance. When I read it, I was just kind of shocked by how brazenly lifted it was.

I do want to see something new though with Halloween. After H ends, i want to see something fresh. I still want Michael and the mask but a new story. Doesn’t matter if it’s haddonfield or not. I just want the creepy fall town vibe.

Yes! The Creepy Fall Town is what makes Halloween so special imo (besides MM of course)

I know there was some talk for a double feature of both "Don't" from Edgar Wright and "Thanksgiving"... But unfortunately that never came to fruition. I would have also loved to see Rob Zombie's "Werewolf woman of the SS"... Just so much good ideas.... Hobo with a shotgun was very good haha.
Best horror movie never made
I heard a script breakdown on another channel and they made it seem more interesting because he went into deep detail and broke down the scene of Michael breaking out as well as other scenes and basically explained the characters. Halloween returns would be great if it would be on a streaming series. You can take this story and take some out and make it the year before 1978 and have the next year in Haddonfield and go forward with the Laurie strode because the Karen character was killed during the breakout and in the script he was after Dr.Rogers daughter. Have the same ending, Dr.Lomis comes in and season 2 it goes in the direction we know and love or hate add their own twist to that story and season 3 can be the Corey story or it just ends after Haddonfield.
This script has a lot of great moments in it, aside from the strange retcons. If they had to rewritten it to fix those aspects, I think I would have preferred this over the 2018 film.

I got no problems with the writers. As I loved the SAW films. My vote is simply this. The audience is already made. Have them do a sequel to Halloween 3. (Cept learn from the past and don't call it Halloween.) I think with this, It would give it "Halloween meets SAW vibe" Might be something new and who knows I guess?
@Bar Son It def could be something. If they really actually take the time and write something NEW for a change. I mean the audience is already there. Plus you got a SAW vibe that could be tied to it. It's been awhile since we had a new Horror Franchise.
I’d love to see some kind of sequel to H3! It finally does get the credit it deserves and I’m glad that John Carpenter and Tommy Lee Wallace are still alive to see their creation get some love finally. It would have been cool for Debra Hill to have seen it too.
I SEE your idea! I was actually thinking this for a twist ending in Halloween Ends. Have Laurie END Michael for good by killing him off and while in the hospital recovering from her injuries, the in-room TV turns on and all of a sudden the jingle for Silver Shamrock Novelties starts endlessly playing and Laurie begins to scream "Stop it! Stop it! Stop iiiiiiiittttttttt!!!!!" and while the film "Ends", a new saga begins!

I wish that they would have gone in a different direction with the Doctor Sartain character. I think that he could have maybe been used to help go after Michael instead of flipping out like he did. Also "Halloween Returns" to me sounds really cool.

While this clearly has a lot of issues, this actually doesn’t sound too bad, and sounds like it will have a lot of great moments that would become iconic.
I'd love to see a video on del Toro's take on Lovecraft's In the Mountains of Madness. I was so excited when that was announced and even still okay when I found out Tom Cruise was the lead, but alas it never was.
One day there will be a filmmaker who will their story off of Rob Zombie's films. It'll be somebody who was young enough; to have seen those movies; and enjoyed them.

I remember reading the RETURNS script a few years ago after the movie was cancelled. What bothered me the most tho was the movie was supposed to be set 10 years after Michael's first rampage so that would've set it in 1988. Problem is tho the script reads like it's set in modern times. They did that with Texas Chainsaw and it bugged the hell out of me!
Well it takes place in an alternate original movie where he killed 14 people ..so it's a disguised remake...
At one time. Their was talks of making a prequel to A Nightmare On Elm Street.

I want to see Halloween high rise
Honestly, after “Halloween Ends,” I think some years need to go by before any other Halloween films are made, and I say this as a fan of the original film, parts 2 and 4 in the original timeline, some standout moments from part 6, H20, and the two recent films. The ONE thing I would be interested in seeing happen, maybe a few years after Halloween Ends, would be a film or two that picks up with Jamie and perhaps Loomis a number of years after the events of part 4, retconning the events of 5 and 6, and doing justice to the original timeline, the Jamie character, and actress Danielle Harris- only person who should be cast to play Jamie; hell, I’d even be on board with Paul Rudd coming back to play a version of Tommy Doyle similar to how he played the character in part 6. This is literally the only territory I think they should visit/revisit. I personally think anything else would fall into the category titled “Alright, Enough Already.”
there was like a 9 year gap between Halloween 2 RZ and Halloween 2018.
They need to wait at least 10 years before doing another Halloween..I think if they do it any sooner it would lose it`s luster..It would be just another movie added to the cluster of other movies in the series..Where if you wait 10 years their would be an excitement and curiosity for a new Halloween movie.
How about The Collected? The 3rd Collector film that was basically abandoned.

i read 1/2 that script it’s interesting (and not horrible actually at this point and time it doesn’t really matter after Halloween’s End there without a doubt be yet another re-boot/splintered time line in the Halloween series mostly because Greed and unoriginally will never die in Hollywood i’d go as far as saying Halloween as a series is just a parody of itself now…..

That's already been talked about in other videos on this channel.
Also, From Dusk till Dawn and Frighteners were already set to be their own movies and were only rumored to possibly have the Crypt franchise name out on them. The TFTC movie that was never made was supposed to be called "Dead Easy" and was supposed to be the 2nd movie out before Bordello of Blood.

5:42 All these years and he's never learned how to hold a knife properly. Not even during the "curse of Thorn" story arc (which actually did make sense and tied everything together neatly). If yer gonna hold a single-edge knife with a reverse grip, for the purpose of hand-to-hand fighting, then you want the sharp edge to face away from you, not toward you. You're not going to be sticking it in and dragging it down. That's a waste of time. In fact, a reverse grip doesn't offer much real advantage when fighting with an edged weapon (as illustrated by Skallagrim, Shadiversity, and Scholia Gladiatoria). This is how you can tell the difference between a competent fighter who can use an edged weapon effectively and an incompetent thug who brandishes an edged weapon as an intimidation tactic. Maybe Michael still has the mind of a child.
*Note:* The fact that he holds a kitchen knife with a reverse grip with the sharp edge facing in instead of out, while he's supposedly possessed by the demon Thorn, means that it's actually Thorn who's an incompetent chump. Aren't demons supposed to be cunning and strategic? Maybe Thorn is just a low-level street thug type of demon. They do have a hierarchy, after all.

I can't even bother with the knife thing because trying to fact-check superhuman, movie villains based on weapons form - rather than being able to survive gunshot wounds unscathed - speaks for itself. You put time into this and I cannot imagine why anyone ever would.

This script is great, the only different thing is that this is a different myers from the original. Like a Myersverse. The way you mention the script as a bad script just because it's not like the original movie really made me upset as a Halloween fan. Compared to the other movies in the franchise, this, executed well, would be for sure my second favorite movie. It pains me to think people will see this, and go with your opinion that it is a bad script, without really reading it. You pointed the bad stuff and all the great things you just didnt talk about at all :/

I would love if they continued the Jamie Lloyd story from after Halloween 5, I don’t hate 6 but at this point Halloween is branched timeline after branched timeline so why not I love the look on nonhorror fans faces when I tell them how messed up the timeline is so let’s keep it going. Hell let’s bring back Josh Hartnett and do a sequel to h2o or Resurrection or both, I think of Halloween as a choose you own adventure book you like this watch more if not check out that one

I appreciate this video, I was always curious as to what storyline this version would tell. It sounds fairly derpy and I’m so glad we were blessed with David Gordon Green & Danny McBride even though I cringed when I heard they were involved especially Danny McBride but how wrong was I? I thought they were going to try and make it comedic. They did an absolutely amazing job with their films and really breathed new life into a troubled series. You are correct in that Zombie nearly killed the entire series. It sounds like had this been made it would have sucked and could have been the final nail in the coffin.

I mean I will say it sounds too different but I wouldn’t mind different after Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills. Neither were bad films but making Michael a mindless killer and severing any connection he had to Laurie really ruined the character and suspense for me. No they don’t need to be siblings but why not make an easy explanation of Michael has an obsession with Laurie for no reason then just because. It would explain Laurie is so obsessed with him, removes the stupid Sartain twist and builds suspense that Michael is an unstoppable being trying to kill Laurie and her family.
There is absolutely zero chance that this Franchise is finished after Halloween Ends. This Franchise makes way too much Money. Pretty sure it's total box office gross for the whole Franchise is $709.8 million
After Halloween ends I’d love for Halloween to come back and take place after the 4th with Jamie. Erase the 5 and 6 cult storyline and have Michael chase Jamie and her family again a bunch of years after the 4th movie.
Rob Zombie's Halloween movies blow every reboot/ sequel out of the water.

I feel they should end Halloween after Ends. However, the lure of having Jamie Lloyd back will be too great to not do that. Thats why it wouldnt shock me if they decided to bring her back in Ends somehow to continue after ends. Making a new sequel to part 4 wouldnt work imo.

Jamie needs more respect than what the Curse did to her. Zombie respected her character and that's why he put her in his movies, obviously not making her Jamie but knowing that she deserved better.
Why not make a spin off of doctor Loomis when he was young facing an evil psychopath like Micheal which primed him for the 1978 face off with true evil Micheal myers?

The Myers story arc has been done to death. Seeing as Hollywood can't make anything original anymore, why not a modern retelling of Season Of The Witch? Would make more sense than ever in the consumer age we live in. Of course it will never happen.

I'd like the opposite. I'd like someone to get back to the roots of the original. Play with light and shadow....have Michael observing from a distance. Tell a small creepy tale that uses suspense instead of gore basically.
