      Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see it. The closest we ever got was the PPV version that included a few extended scenes, but it's never been made available.
      But yeah, the cuts made by MIRAMAX drastically altered the film's structure and climax. If you want to get a taste of what would have been, the novelization by Chet Williamson is based directly off of the original screenplay, and preserves Tim Pope's intentions for the film.

      There is no directors cut... but there is an extremely hard to find fan done re-cut which re-edits the film into the directors vision and it's apparently a far better film. I've never seen it and I enjoyed CoA for what it is... it's not the original or as good as it by any standard, but the use of color is fantastic.

      The movie was at a theater all the way across town and there was nothing really around that area that we could go do if we didn't get into the theater. My dad dropped us off, and had already left.
      So... with our nerves on edge, we waited for the workers response.
      "No you're not...", he said.

      Agree totally. Brandon is Eric, every time Hollywood tries to recast an iconic character they fail miserably. I have heard rumors that they are going to try a remake of this and I am not a fan of remakes in the least especially if the original was the equivalent of lightning in a bottle but from what I've heard they were going to cast Bill Skarsgard as Draven and to be honest that sorta peaked my curiosity bc he might actually do the role justice. The Crow: The Bride. They better make this movie some day!

    • @derrickhaggard
      @derrickhaggard Před 4 měsíci +2

      Oh yes as from the reports I've read The Crow: The Bride was going to be an adaption of one of the most popular storylines in the comics The Crow: Flesh and Blood which focused on Iris Shaw a game warden who along with her unborn child, and several innocent people including a US Marshal were brutally murdered when a group of right-wing extremist ranchers were poaching coyotes by poisoning them simply because they didn't like the government turning land into protected wildlife habitats blow up the federal building the pregnant Iris, a US Marshal, and several innocent people are in including a kind-hearted nursing home worker who died due to suffocating to death via rubble from the blown up building falling on her.
      And so on the anniversary of her, her unborn child and the innocent people's murders Iris is brought back as the latest Crow and after making peace with her husband/father of the unborn child Rick and painting the image of a crow on her face with black face paint instead of the usual harlequin lines she sets off on her quest of retribution, and justice and her kills are actually symbolic as she's not out for vengeance but justice as she believes that vengeance is something that anyone enraged can get and won't ease her soul and bring her peace but the only thing that will ease her soul and get her the peace she desires is justice and so she kills her targets in ways that mirror the deaths of the various innocent individuals who died in the explosion with her and her unborn child for example the first 2 of Iris's targets she doesn't kill them instead she brings to a area and digs two human sized holes in the ground and then after using the power to make the targets see the pain of their victims and makes them see the kind-hearted nursing home worker suffocate to death under the rubble of the blown up building pushes them in the holes she dug and buries them alive so they can know the fear, terror, and mental pain of dying a slowing agonizing death via suffocation.
      And of course partway through the FBI gets involved which actually makes sense as the building the bad guys blew up at the start was a federal building.

Rob even said, "I wanted to bring Lee back to theaters. This was before he started showing up everywhere in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings movies. This is a franchise with a lot of potential, but it was originally squandered by Pressman and Miramax, first by rushing "City of Angels" into production and then absolutely butchering director Tim Pope's finished product, and then going increasingly cheap with "Salvation" and "Wicked Prayer".

    Mia Kirshner as Sarah in City of Angels was the highlight of that film. It would have been a better film if she had been "The Crow" in that movie. The female Crow was one of the better characters in what was the third comic series and where it wouldn't have been the exact same plot as the book it would have been a better take and made it more than just a rehash of the original.

Basil is killed and resurrected as a child, which is why he doesn’t remember what happened for 27 years and why he has powers that no one understands, but is put to use by his bounty hunting mentor who took in the child shortly after his resurrection.

    As much as I love Rob Zombie NOBODY --- NOBODY can add or redo the movie. The original O'Barr story , the Proyas film, and the unmatchable perfection of Brandon Lee's Crow were little bits of perfection , beauty, and vengeance that will never be outdone. I waited for hours on the first day and first showing of the Crow and was waiting with breath held that the director had not deviated so much as to destroy the essence of James O'barrs 4 issue comic with the last installment being finished with the 3td mini graphic novel from Tundra. HAving lost two people right before getting the complete Crow comic series. The work became very personal.for me ------ the idea of love being strong enough to transcend deat. R.I.P. Brandon Lee you gave us such an incredible performance and just as recently as a week ago I watched with as much awe and respect as I had any of the 175- 200 times I watched the movie. Thank you J.Obarr for introducing me to Rimbaud , creating a character that was just as vulnerable as violent------ a force more powerful than the ugliness that surrounds is......and for making me want to find my Shelly which I finally did.

    They had a 5 season plan the show was leading up to a battle of Heaven vs Hell and The Crows were the Avatars of Heaven sworn to protect us from those who do evil. It was going to be a whole another reason why Eric Draven was chosen.
    In The the movie Eric and Shelly were killed over the refusal of using there loft for Devils Night and it took a year for Eric to be brought back because at that same time Officer Albright was trying to seek justice for them but when he failed the time had come for The Crow to bring Eric Draven back to set the wrong thinks right.
    The show was a little different Eric found out the owner of the Black Out was ordering murder contracts and dealing in death and insurance money he and Shelly died because of this and officer Albright tried to seek justice but failed that's why it took a year to Bring Eric Draven back. There was however a deeper reason why Eric was chosen a man named Mr Reyes ordered so many deaths because he was hoping that one would be brought back as a Crow so he would convert that avatar into a Snake to do evil and he succeed with Eric Draven.
