  • A quick look at the P229 full size pistol. The .357 two tone was my duty gun for many years. The black 229 was a Manchester NH police service weapon as well. Both have been totally gone through. Remember don’t eat yellow snow. 😉

    German 229 is probably the best pistol I've owned. I wouldn't trade mine for a 43X and a 320.

    Just got my P229 last week. It's been my dream gun for nearly a decade and I love it. It's a non-rail early model with an AG serial number prefix. My biggest regret was selling my sig P220 carry way back in the day.

    Good instruction, thanks for the benefit of your experience. Always lube up before a range session if only to make easier cleaning after training, the oil slides the bunt powder and lead off with less scrubbing.

    Love the aging on the sig!

      Thank you. It was assigned to me in 2000. It was another Officers before me. So it's at least 25yrs old. It's a tack driver.

    I have a 20 year old .40SW P229 also, no picatinny rail. Another difference is the newer P229 has full height serrations whereas our P229's have half-height serrations on the slide. Kudos to your XP with these guns - great to know they're built like tanks.

      My first Sig was a 239 (.40) . Bought that around 2001 . Then I sold it to help pay for my current Sig P229 (.40) . I wish I had both . I have owned my P229 for 18 years . Great guns , but expensive . I've been contemplating getting a MK25 or just a standard 226 . Only things I have done is to add Houge rubber , SRT trigger job and Truglo TFX Pro sights . It has less than 500 rounds through it .

      I would feel comfortable behind your gun 100%. They are so well made. Like I said in 18yrs the thing never had an issue. When I was a rookie I had this and a Smith and Wesson Sigma in 40 S&W. I went to the range all the time and punished the Sig. Never let me down and was accurate.

    Very cool. Thanks for sharing the guns and your experience using the P229 on duty. It's always interesting to hear a professional/duty perspective on certain guns. I have an old-school P229 in 9mm--certainly looks like an LE trade... has some of the same wear patterns yours does. Also have a P239 in .357 SIG. Man, that thing is a little cannon. Both accurate AF. Both 100% reliable. Old Sigs rule.

      I agree with that. Can't go wrong with an old school hammer fired Sig.

    2 years ago I bought my first SIG , upgraded variant of P229 - M11A1 compact (recoil spring on my M11A1 is not braided)
    Mine made in the Newington, New Hampshire

      Nice I live the next town over and police in Epping. You have a beautiful gun. Plus it will hold it's value. I look at my hammer Sigs as my Zombie go to's if that ever happens. :)

    Love your old duty weapon I’ve got two black SS just like it both German NIB one 40 and on 357sig. Both have frame, slide and barrel with SNs never seen gun like that pretty neat! Yes absolutely beast of guns I’ve never even racked the 357sig but I do carry my 40 everyday. Love the content brother

      Thank you for the support bro. Same feelings here on the old sigs. They will never attain this quality again. German made. Never had a hang-up of miss fire. If the world ends I will be duel wielding these bad boys.

      @@copgun same lol they are some slick guns they don’t do quality like that anymore in my opinion.

    Great gun. I’m probably going to buy a striker pistol eventually, but I really like hammer fired pistols.

    • @copgun

      I like the hammer fired also. There's nothing like cocking the trigger for a single action shot.

    Almost bought a German sig like your old duty pistol in MA last week but unfortunately I slept on it and the next day it was gone. My mistake. 🤣 stay safe pal. Appreciate the video. 👍

      Thank you for the support. Sorry you missed it, but it wasn't meant to be and there will be a better one around the corner. I am kicking myself for not buying another gun last week, but it happens. I just went to the Kittery Trading Post in Maine. The prices are still crazy. Left empty handed.

    Great content. Indeed a great gun to shoot at the range.
    I have one myself and often i just like to practice dry fire and mag reloads.
    Looking to buy the P229 legion or the pro cut to add to my collection.

    Than as for this explained video
    I have a similar classic p229th in 40 cal. I recently bought on eBay an original sig Sauer 357 barrel
    Doesn't fit right into. Feel to tighten
    If I want to send it around the chamber?
    It won't have any trouble if I do it ?

    • @copgun
      @copgun  Před měsícem

      If it's an Original 357 Barrel you should have no issues. The recoil spring should be the same for both calibers. Could you make sure you're safe and let her rip? My spring on the 40 cal is tighter than the 357 sig spring but should be the same.

    • @jashaejoseph3752
      @jashaejoseph3752 Před měsícem

      Hey wait a second. Sig will tell you the barrels they offer now (.357 sig) will not fit the older model 229s. Basically the models that came before the e2 grips from what I understand.

    • @copgun
      @copgun  Před měsícem

      @@jashaejoseph3752 I have three old 229's. I converted on to .40 cal. It needed a new barrel and recoil spring. So yes I agree the older ones can be switched over. I don't have a newer one to mess with. I would check eBay for an older barrel. I should do a video on the ones I have. They are heavy but great guns.
