Tightening the tailgate hinges on a 94 Bronco

This should apply to most Full Size broncos 80-96, maybe more. Looks like a nut for the tailgate hinge worked it's way off or a previous owner just didn't put it back on for whatever reason. The hinge eventually worked its way loose.

Do you have any advice for me on my bronco? The window was stuck up and we fixed it but the tailgate will not open. It is not centered, and only one side will un-latch. Do you know what I could do from here? Should I try tightening the bolts?

Got any recomendations for the back window not going up.. I opened the tail gate and now it won't roll up. We took the tail gate apart and used s battery to roll it up. So it's not the motor . And it's closed now would it be the key switch

The key switch is a very common failure on the bronco tailgates. There is also an interlock that can go bad in the tailgate(located in close proximity to the key switch), its job is to prevent the window from rolling up if the tailgate isn't closed. If the tailgate latches aren't closed, or the interlock is bad, this could cause this problem. You can test by taking the the connector off of the interlock and jumping the two wires together at the connector. If the window goes up, you know you've got a bad switch, and it's a junkyard only park AFAIK.

@@obsgarage6682 would a new tail gate fix this problem.. the bottom is rusted on our 95 and we are getting a new one..

@@nicolevaldez87 Usually when you get a new tailgate it doesn't come with any of the components, you typically have to swap all your parts over to the new tailgate shell, like the glass, motor, tracks, key switch, wiring, etc. If you can find a deal online on facebook marketplace or craigslist or ebay for a good used tailgate, that would be the best.
