- Learn how to repin your ignition cylinder so you can keep the same key if you have to replace your ignition. I needed to replace the ignition in my wife’s 95 bronco, and I didn’t want there to be three keys (rear glass, doors, ignition). So in this video I’ll show you how to save the pins in the old ignition and put them in your newly acquired one. This procedure is probably VERY similar for other models and years of Ford vehicles, but I only listed 92-96 because I know for sure.
Also on a side note, I tore down the rear of my 94 bronco looking for the source of a humming noise. It appears to be a bad wheel bearing. I’ve got parts on order to reshim the carrier/pinion and replace all the bearings and seals within.

Thank you for this video. It helped me recode a Dorman 924-730 to my car's original key. NOTE: I was unable to remove the inner and outer parts as shown @ 7:01 until I pulled the retaining pin (the same one that is pressed in to remove the cylinder form the steering column) outward a little. Pulling on that pin was also necessary to put it back together. I also had to CAREFULLY file the old tumblers along the edge where the metal had slightly folded over from wear, preventing them from sliding nicely in the new cylinder.
Gracias muchas Gracias. Ya me subscribí y ten tu like. God Bless you and your family.
I had found the fullsize write up on this before finding your video. The video of you showing how it game apart was a big help. Got it done in 30 minutes no problem. I blame you for helping me get it done.
I took my old ignition lock cylinder out but don't have my old key to rotate the lock cylinder to disassemble. I'm just trying to get it apart to recode it to a new key I got to a different ignition. I have the same lock cylinder you have.
thank you...have same issue...considering same process for tailgate cylinder as well
It's my experience that the tailgate key is always a different cut and is not compatible with the ignition. On most trucks I've seen, the tailgate has a reverse cut as does the passenger door, and sometime the driver door. Unless you fab something, you won't be able to have a "one key" solution.
