Tesla lead the EV revolution, and as a relatively new company their cars are bound to have initial problems. Nowadays their cars are significantly better, but obviously not comparable to the refinements that older companies have due to multiple decades of experience.

Set aside. In a bowl, whisk 2 eggs together. In a clean saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add eggs to saucepan. Let the eggs sit a minutes, then use a spatula to lift the edges of the omelet to allow the uncooked egg to flow to the edge of the pan. Fill the omelet and fold it in half. Serve while the omelet is still piping hot.

Power steering uses hydraulic pressure to assist the turning of the wheels but there is still a physical link so if you were going 75 miles and hour you can still turn the wheel. Drive by wire uses an electric motor to turn the wheels controlled by a positioning sensor so if power is lost or wire get sheered steering will be lost.

In that case the only difference between power steering and steer by wire is you’re swapping the steering column for extra redundant motors and power delivery. Your power steering failing is rare enough, but you’d need to have multiple simultaneous failures to take out a steer by wire. Safe to the point the risk is negligible.

If the steering wheel on most regular cars gets put out of position by force when the engine's off, you can't start it up without returning it to the correct position manually, so contrary to a lot of opinion this is actually a thought out feature.

That input lag in their "fly by wire" system is extrmely dangerous. Many times i saved myself from a crash by making an extremely quick yet slight changes to the wheel and no way it would work with that lag. Id have been dead 4 times if i was driving that car

You should be able to steer the wheel in an event that the car loses power or the steering wheel wires give out/short out. It should be mechanical or have a way to switch to mechanical steering if that happens, even if a power steering pump goes out you still can steer the car but nope not with steer by wire.
steer by wire is terrible. no road feedback paired up with steering latency. sure, the latency can be considered "fine" for normal day-to-day driving, but it was tested with sudden aggressive maneuvers to simulate dangerous situations that require very quick reactions to avoid a collision for example. the wheels needed at least half a second to complete the turning process *after* the steering wheel has already stopped moving. no matter how low that latency may get in the future, i would never trust steer by wire in any car.
