So I was thinking this was still an online game, so when Jordan reached over and physically swapped the Gilded Drake I thought he was some kind of wizard! xD
Lore-wise, players are powerful wizards that cast spells, so maybe he is 0_0
This is canon
Thank you guys so much for making fun to watch gameplay
Nice, I used to run a Momir deck before making it into Chulane! I still have him as a great tutor for my win con creatures!
I JUST built Momir as a strong casual deck a couple weeks ago and it is disgusting. My playgroup knows they have to answer all my dorks or I'll generate enough Mana to Momir and protect him. And when that happens you can tutor everything else you need. Ton of fun to play.
I can't wait to build a Krenko deck! Ever since I started Magic, I've loved this commander. I will be building it soon.
Bad threat assessment on both Jordan and the Krenko player : it was obvious that blood pod had the win, so bouncing Felidar guardian was the thing to do, not Krenko. The Krenko player should have told it to the table or destroy a land to bounce the Felidar. Doing nothing gave Joseph the win.
He could have bounced Extortionist then Felidar or Destiny Spinner.
Strong concur here. I think the better play is to bounce the Destiny Spinner/Felidar in order to push the bounce of Krenko, if you think that's really an issue.
The tough decision there, IMO, is to decide between 2 CMC Destiny Spinner vs 4 CMC Felidar. Upside to Destiny Spinner is it prevents the uncounterable spells, but can probably be recast anyway. Bouncing Felidar is a higher CMC but prevents interaction while on the stack. Considering the pod, probably better to just bounce the Felidar as not many can interact with a creature spell and Joseph probably wasn't going to drop a Food Chain or other big Enchantment (outside of maybe Splinter Twin?)
@@TheGrifcannon22 If you're saying the Krenko player should bounce Extortionist and continue the chain, I agree.
honestly i kind of understand the bounce on krenko. It really forced the krenko player to either deal with felidar guardian or possibly lose. Its an interesting tactic but reminds me of CEDHTV's video entitled "How to be an EDH terrorist"
bouncing the guaridan would not have done anything to stop the kiki combo, if he uses kiki to compy elves he has 4 mana again and can recast the guardian
i just loooove that white line down on the image showing how long that part gonna be
Got my playmat in the mail yesterday!
What is up with that Dockside at 10:40 ? Is that a cut-out with a Chandra's Spellbook frame?
I was wondering the same thing!
Its a proxy I picked up a couple months ago! Definitely a cool mtg art style!
Love competitive Krenko!
These videos are awesome!! I noticed that you have a pseudo timer on the bottom of the screen when doing the introduction. I believe it is possible to get the CZcams player to have timestamps bookmarked natively if you add timestamps to your description. It might save you time with editing :)
My mind when playing Krenko; “Hehe, goblin go BRRRRRRR!”
I'd really like to see a Kelsien, the plague deck 😁
Hey the competitive meter actually had some info on the decks this video. That's a nice improvement. Glad to see the channel listening to comments and improving over time.
The meter is not reliable.
What a beautiful Dockside art nate L has there
😎
Surely if the ability of boots goes on the stack krenko doesn't yet have haste if you respond with chain of vapour? Idk may just be I don't understand the stack well enough
i dont know if you will bother seeing this or even care at this point but Krenko had haste from the Goblin Chieftain already which is why he could tap in response to the chain. (if you pause at 11:04 you can see they bring up the chieftain to show what is giving him haste)... The boots being equipped was just to attempt to give Krenko the protection of shroud.
What gadget or gizmo are they using to keep the camera pointed straight down?
Where would one be able to find the dice @11:10 for sale?
krenko got a huge upgrade with Conspicuous snoop and Subira.
🙌
Minor nitpicks, but Krenko tapping immediately meant that Tymna and the zombie got to attack him, while he could have waited to tap it to prevent the Tymna and zombie from attacking, and been able to keep the goblin. Also, he didn’t attack anyone with the Goblin Chieftain on mostly creatureless board despite a player controlling a sylvan library and the other 2 decks containing black.
Krenko is by far my favorite!
If you're not running Strategic Planning in Sidisi, why run Ransack the Labs? You have Force of Will/Negation, a blue card is inherently more valuable.
Hey can you guys try some of these commanders? Rakdos, Lord of Riots, Teshar, Ancestor’s Apostle, Grenzo, Dungeon Warden and Merieke Ri Berit
Couldn't you use the cards that change text on kinnan to change non human to non brushwagg?
But what if you wanted to put your brushwaggs into play?
Good lord. It was an excellent game up until Jordan fumbled the hell out of that turn. You had combo part 1 on board and an anti-counter piece. There hasn't been a telegraph that obvious since the noam medication run. At the level you'll are at, you can't just say "Oh I know this deck can go off so I'm going to target him." Threats change throughout the game.
But Jordan hat a Sylvan Library, so pressuring his life total makes sense
I can smell Adam’s sleeves from here.
MAELSTROM WANDERER!!!
It doesn’t matter much, but my understanding of equip, is that it’s an activated ability. So with it on the stack, & the CoV on the stack, the equipment was not yet equipped, so krenko didn’t have haste. Or did I miss something?
You are correct. Chain of vapor was in response to the equip so the tokens would not have been made.
Goblin chieftain was on the battlefield giving Krenko haste
Correction I didn't see the goblin chieftain before krenko came in. Chief grants haste 😋
@@CasuallyCompetitiveMTG totally missed that. thanks for the reply!
Can I suggest decks if I go Patreon?
PS: You guys are amazing.
Dryad arbor is not affected by summoning sickness is he? I don't think it does but it probably doesn't matter much
It is. It is a creature, so activated abilities with tap as a cost cannot be activated (without haste). This includes its ability to tap to add a green
I really wish they would play Grenzo that’s my first serious deck and wish I could see someone else play him
Ok you mention turn order but krenko doing some damage vs you obviously having the combo and winning means the chain of vapor was huge misplay in terms of threat assessment
Threat assessment? What threat? Oh I see it, its over there, that goblin guy 😆
Joseph was rewarded for keeping a greedy hand
I thought it was staged. How does one top deck 2 lands with that sketchy hand?
@@ramensobatv I swear joseph cheats, guy wins just about every game on this channel, if i was in that playgroup I'd think something was up.
@@BrassBallsofSteel they're playing in person
dak mob maybe they just went with it to make the game interesting. I mean he couldve said to draw until he gets a land and bottoms the rest. It’s just so unbelievable.
If you think it's unbelievable you should check out our Twitch stream where we livestream all of these games including the shuffling, discussion, and plays.
nice game. I would have to see more of jordan's deck.
Minor thing was overlooked: when joseph played a tutor (4:40) you forgot to reduce his hand cards (7 -> 6).
Was it just me or did Jordan pull a kingmaker for Joseph? Wow what a misplay.
I thought I'd ask here despite being irrelevant: What's your thoughts on the Commander variant Conquest?
What happened to youtube polls?
I want to see them use wort the raid mother!
Some plays I didn't quite get from the krenko player:
after the toxic d. why didn't he attack after casting Goblin Chieftain? there were no creatures on the board and a player with Sylvan Library there, also why not equip chieftain with the greaves that same turn? next turn he hast 3 trasures and krenko goes to his hand... why not recasting krenko (since he had ruby m krenko only cost 3 mana) to put more tokens and attack that same turn?
algo.why would you Toxic Deluge when you have the biggest boardstate? I guess you can rebuild with Sidisi though...
anyway ggs, you got really lucky joseph especially after keeping that horrible starting hand with one land and after some countered your tutor hahaah
I guess the toxic was due to Tymna and Visier, guess visier can get pretty scary in a Momir deck...
In my time playing with the group, I have had too many creatures bounced or destroyed upon declaration of attacks, chieftain is a solid target for that because 1. Haste enabler and 2. +1/+1 counters for my goblins. Its better to not make it a threat when its your only haste enabler on field or in hand. I get I could have equipped greaves but in our play group you just have to sit and hope that nothing happens to your board to progress especially with getting set back a few times this game. Also on turn six, when I did recast krenko he cost 5 (4-1 plus commander tax because he was removed the turn before by toxic. which caused me to use 2 lands (cavern and mountain) plus the 3 treasure tokens generated from dockside. Regardless of that, there was nowhere near enough damage to kill anyone, let alone win because of the lack of interaction in my hand and the fact that Joseph had the win on the board. Sometimes you have to just roll over and take the L.
Of course kikijiki will resolve, there's a destiny spinner
Play Multani from Dominaria! I swear it's a deceptively powerful deck when you build it as a ramp/volition deck.
What is up everyone, my names Joseph, and welcome to Caashly Competitive MTG
Jordan should not have kept that hand, way too slow
whoot first!
first
Bloodpod opening hand was awful. No mana and combo pieces that you rather have in deck in hand.
Just topdeck land every time (as he did)! Easy XD
Krenko should have copied the CoV to remove the Guardian at an attempt to hold off an obvious next turn win.
Krenko can't copy things though, Krenko creates goblin tokens.
@@daodrassulravan5520 As part of chain of vapor, you can sac a land to copy it and choose another target. I think that's what the comment was referring to. Maybe I'm missing the joke here.
I'd have chained the destiny spinner as it allows for counter spells to be played against the blood pod deck or force him to use all his mana to replay it and kiki
Why was it necessary to bounce Krenko? It was quite obvious that the felidar guardian was there to combo off ASAP. So the choice was losing now to Blood Pod or maybe lose to Krenko. It made the Krenko player kingmaker imho
@@Coren999 Yeah I agree. While the announcer made a point to highlight how scary Krenko can be with Hexproof, its still not as scary as the Blood Pods boardstate.
Im not convinced how joseph topped decked 2 lands while keeping a sketchy hand with just 1 land. Was this staged? 🤫
So you've never kept a mediocre hand and gotten lucky in the draws that followed? Or simply gotten lucky draws at any time? Come on man there's variance and luck in this game at every level.
jeffrey brooks his luck was far from reality.
@@ramensobatv yeah because that kind of stuff NEVER happens (sarcasm intended)
I wanted to give Like for Momir Vig, but those obviously cheating opening-hand and proxy made me finally decide to gave Dislike. Play real cards!
What's the problem with proxies?
@@zedisilluminati9449 Proxies should only be used under the premise of owning the real copies, which is convenient for building multiple decks without spending time to swap. You can use the real copy when making a clip, so he probably didn't.
@@AtingsQuest No.
Each single person AND group has different ideas. There is no wrong or right. Do not pass off your opinion (absolutely valid, of course) for a truth.
"Should only" is how YOU feel about them.
Now that i have finished the video, i have a couple questions: 1) Cheating opening hands?
2) About the proxies: did you never ever had the idea of altering a card to like it more/as a tribute/because you had a cool art idea? yeah, Krenko and the Extortionist where probably digitally altered and "proxied", but who didn't think about that at some point?
3) How do you know if they don't have the real cards? My guess is that Nate HAS the cards but he altered/created cool versions for himself, for his enjoyment. I did the same with the basics I use in two decks XD I commissioned an art from an artist and, printed it on a plastic sheet and glued it on a foil de-inked card. I now have 9 copies of each basic land with MY art on it. And that's COOL AF.
@@AtingsQuest everything the other person who replied and more. Proxies are perfectly fine in every way, even if you don't own the real card. I assume you're under the elite policy of "I bought the cards so why shouldn't everyone else?" Which is so stupid. I'm a student and I can't afford to buy all the copies of duals for my 3c and 4c cEDH lists, but my playgroup are all also students and understand where I'm coming from. We proxy decks to our hearts content, and I've never understood why people have this attitude about proxies.
