- On BudgetEDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a pre-set budget in mind. In this week's episode, we build a $100 budget Thalisse, Reverent Medium deck from the Magic the Gathering set Commander Legends. Thalisse is a legendary cleric that has a powerful triggered ability of creating spirit tokens for the number of tokens we create each turn. This powerful token deck has a plethora of ways of creating tokens each turn to maximize the amount of tokens that we can make with Thalisse. In addition, we added in an Aristocrats subtheme into the deck to ensure that we are able to gain additional value off of our tokens and drain our opponents out when we sacrifice them!

I run minions' murmurs and reprocess as card draw bombs in my version of this deck. Both are very cheap!

Very similar to my build, I went a bit more aristocrat strategy with life gain with things like souls attendent, death greeter, with the wincon being bolas's citidal
I actually completely forgot about this commander, will definitely brew and look at your deck to get some inspiration! How have the 1-time token generators been treating you in playtesting? In EDH I like building greedier decks with recurring value so I'm a bit sceptical about Spectral Procession for example, but I'm more than open to getting my mind changed :)
Which other Orzhov Commanders do you think you could stick in this deck and roulette them as commanders every now and then?

I really like Krav & Regna, but I'm biased. I have Thalisse in my deck with them at the helm
You could put Elenda the Dusk Rose as the pseudo commander.

There is a combo betweeen Thalisse and two other cards you didnt mention. One is because itd ruin the budget part of the budget deck, Anointed Procession. An enchantment for 3 and a White with "If an Effect would create one or more tokens under your control, if creates twice that many tokens instead." And the second card Army Of The Damned from New Capenna a Sorcery for 5 and 3 Black with " Create 13 tapped 2/2 black zombie creature tokens" and
"Flashback 7 and 3 Black"
With Thalisse. You can make a total of 156 tokens. 13 from AotD doubled from AP for 26. Then making 26 from Thalisse doubled AGAIN by AP. Then flashback AotD fo do it a second time.
((13×2)+(26×2))×2 = 156
Great deck tech! Im wondering. With the aristocrats theme, if 10 tokens enter the battlefield does the opponent lose 10 life or just 1?
They would lose 10. It depends on the wording of the card. For example, on Corpse Knight it says whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, each opponent loses 1 life. So if you create 10 tokens, they all enter the battlefield and each would trigger corpse knight's ability (putting 10 instances on the stack). Hopefully that makes sense/helps!

@@BudgetEDH But with the crusade card, would all 10 really get 10 counters or would it be 1 gets 10, 1 gets 9, 1 gets 8 etc?
@@originof27 when all 10 enter the battlefield with crusade out, they will all see each other and themselves entering thus each of them get 10 counters each

This is a great deck and a great commander. Sadly you just can't get the best cards for this deck playing with a short budget. Orhzov Token decks do have a lot of really pricey cards.
Wow, you always have great timing. I bought this commander and slowly been holding on to cards . I like the way you put together, def got put this together now. Would you sub Smoothering tile if so what comes out?
Smothering Tithe would be one of, if not the best card in the deck if you had one to add. I would take out Retreat to Emeria for it personally.
Wouldn’t rings of brighthearth be a better option
If would be a fantastic addition. So would Anointed Procession. 😉
