- Is George Lucas returning to Lucasfilm to snatch Star Wars away from Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger? Um, probably not. But who knows? There's a rumor out there that he's returning to do at least one more Disney+ series, but why would he do it at nearly 80 years of age? Stranger things have happened...

If he came back and said that Episodes 7, 8, and 9 are not canon and then left I'd laugh my backside off.
I’d find it funnier if he came back to double down on the sequel trilogy and make it as retarded as possible.
That ALONE would fix just about every single problem with Star Wars under Disney!! lol

@@Disneyfan82 Maybe this is why. Bob allowed him to come back and change the things he didn't like.
Lucas sided with the man who promised to use his treatment for the next three movies then laughed at him in his book for believing a handshake deal carried any weight.
Facts
@@arthurpendragon3000 you need to understand, none of our generation tended to be men of their word. Overwhelmingly. A handshake was as good as a written contract between most men. Yes, it’s true, even in our day, the written contract was best, but he had signed a contract selling to them and they gave their word, a verbal contract, to use the three treatments and to make those movies. They violated that.
In the modern courts, would that carry any weight? Probably not. But among people, among men of our generation, it does.
I’ll believe George Lucas is going to come back and associate with when I see it. And if he does come back, I hope this time he pins them to the wall, with a hard-core contract, giving him total control of everything including setting the budget. The contract must stipulate that Disney is permitted no input of any kind. No creative input, no decisions on budget, no DEI. No decisions or input on cast. Nothing.
I can’t see Disney agreeing to that, since they don’t give a crap about making money, they only care about their work, sociopolitical and sociosexual agenda, narrative, and making every movie a propaganda piece for that. And I sincerely hope that George Lucas would not put up with that and would not permit himself to be subject to additional damage to his name and reputation beyond the damage that they have already done.

Another betrayal from gl.

My theory: he chose her because she doesn't let people push her around. Of all the things we can say about Darthleen Kennedy, she doesn't let people push her around. So if you want the company you founded to live on as a part of a massive conglomerate like Disney, you put someone in charge who can't be pushed around. She's just clueless about Star Wars.
To be fair, she was an actress not a coffee girl.

They can’t undo the sequels, but they can disconnect them from the franchise universe, spin them as an alternative timeline, while at the same time, denigrating them as the woke travesty and mediocre excuses for films that they are.
@@johntrenchthat's kind of a stupid idea
@@animezilla4486 oh good, an airhead feminist troll. A conclusion I confidently reach from your immediate result to that most favored if all feminist tactics: witless SIGN language.
There is nothing at all stupid about the idea. The anti-sequel trilogy is a travesty, violates just about everything already set by the original movies in the franchise. They are, as movies, a range from merely “meh” in the case of “The Force Awakens”, a movie that made the box office it did not on its own merits but due almost solely to the pent-up demand for the three remaining planned movies for the franchise that Lucas had written treatments for-and that Disney tossed in favor of making high budget/low quality sociopolitical and sociosexual propaganda pieces-to the pathetic nonsense that was the final excretion in the series, chock full of plot points that ran the gamut from senseless to ridiculous. All while disrespecting the original characters, marginalizing and emasculating the new male characters, and trashing the central tenets of the “Star Wars” universe already established.
Repudiating them, and any connection to the franchise save as object lessons in what sorts of stories NOT to do, and starting over by producing the three movies originally planned by Lucas and for which he provided detailed treatments. Assuming Disney/LucasFilm could produce those movies without resorting to their usual twisted iteration of DEI and attempting to cram them full of their standard brand of woke, explicitly sexist, blatantly misandristic, emotionally hysterical sociopolitical and sociosexual agenda and narrative that audiences have shown through the abject failure of theater attendance and streaming service viewing statistics and disappointing box office revenues that they do not appreciate and will not tolerate, the three treatment based movies would be logical extensions of the previous six movies, and would be consistent with the internal logic of the fictional universe they established. Something that cannot be said for the anti-sequel trilogy.
I presume that you are nearly beside yourself with excitement and anticipation over the upcoming “The Acolyte” excretion? Have you decided yet how you are going to blame everything on the mythical “loud negative minority of fans”, on men, on misogyny, and on the patriarchy, when it inevitably experiences an even more catastrophic failure and hits the wall with an even more sickening splat than did the I’ll-begotten trailer they released for it? IMHO there isn't a snowballs chances in Hades that George Lucas will return to Star Wars. Kathleen Kennedy has intentionally besmirched George's legacy and the franchise is irrevocably damaged beyond repair. Also given Lucas's age, he doesn't have enough time to even repair the damage and create something that people actually want to see. Lastly he has no creative control and IF he does return, he will have to bend the knee to Disney's DEI agenda.
What could he do with Kathleen Kennedy in charge? Disney is in control and they've completely destroyed StarWars including throwing out his scripts. Any idea he has would have to go through them.
Yeah like at this point, it would be easier to make a brand new ip. Over trying to save star wars at this point. Given heck, without the likes of clown fish. I would have no idea if disney was still dragging around the rotting corpse.
if he came back it would just be to get his name on it. his name still has weight to some people. dumb people, yes, but dumb people have money, too.
Lucas' judgement is gone. He's the one who entrusted Kennedy with Star Wars after years of working with her. Either he's an idiot or she's the craftyest person around. I think it's the former.
It's as if Disney, in its infinite wisdom, has found a way to weaponize nostalgia, dangling Lucas's name over every project like a golden key to the kingdom. "Fear not," they seem to proclaim, "for the maestro himself orchestrates this symphony!" Yet, in reality, it's little more than a clever ruse, a flashy sleight of hand designed to woo back the throngs of alienated fans who've grown weary of Disney's rendition of Star Wars, a saga that now feels more like a high-budget fanfic dressed in the trappings of its former glory.

Until it's "Star Wars" without the "Disney" in front, it can't be saved.
Unfortunately even then, way too much damage has been done.
To revive would mean to completely retcon the Disney Sequels and The High Republic... as if Disney, especially KK, would allow that. It's the one way you can get the fans back to pay attention again, but after that, you need to deliver constantly to revive that corpse and that's a impossible task to do.
Lucas coming back? No way! Disney shopping around the IP to finally turn a profit on it? Possible. Lucas taking the IP back under a separate company run by something like the old EU story group? I can see it.
The only way I see this working is if they brought him back to make a definitive end to star wars, and then they just leave it alone for a good 10 years.
After what happened when Russel T Davies came back to Dr Who, this changes nothing. There are 6 Star Wars movies and now Star Wars is Dead.
No there are 12 star wars movies 9 mainline 2 spin offs and one pilot film
Said this before. Asking CCP Iger, Kathleen Karen Kennedy are running the show. All George Lucas will accomplish, is either he will be part of a fault of the next StarWars Failure. Or be once again, be denied all Creative Control, but be the fall guy on Kathleen's next Suck Movie.
NOT BUYING IT. George Lucas made a Extremely BAD CALL Defending CCP Iger in the Proxy Battle.
Having your name in the NEXT RAY Palpatine movie is NOT going to win customers over.
Why does this story smack of sever desperation on Kathleen Kennedy's part for her Acolyte launch??? 0~o It seems Disney is trying (and failing) once more to drum up any interest.
In the end, it doesn't even matter!
Star Wars, the way we once knew it, is gone. Time to move on.
Well Star Wars has been falling apart since the prequel trilogy ended. After that Star Wars was simply not as good as it used to be.
Him selling it off to Disney is proof George doesn’t care about Star Wars in the same way he used to.
I think canon Star Wars has been ruined so much it is nearly impossible to repair the damage. It won’t matter too much if George gets more involved or not.
Given the things George Lucas has said about the company in the past? I highly doubt that he’s returning to the company when Disney did everything to destroy his legacy.
Only if Lucas is so mentally deficient he would trust the man that bamboozled him. If I was Lucas I'd trust Iger as much as Alex Baldwin's trigger finger.
It's the same with James Cameron and the Terminator series.
It's all desperation name dropping.
He just bought a condo in Chicago for like $33.5 million.
I watched a series on the making of the original trilogy. The idea may have been George’s, but the success of Star Wars was his wife’s, who edited all three of the original movies. The last being during their divorce. She even won an academy award for editing one of them. The original editors on the last two had really effed them up. And he re-paid her by not giving her ANY ownership in Star Wars. She literally helped build it, & he screwed her over. Even when she helped him out by editing the last movie DURING their divorce!! Totally changes my opinion of him.
So he fits right in with the Hollyweird crowd?
The original trilogy also had different rules for comedy, Lucas didn't follow the same rules for the prequel trilogy and that is how Jar Jar was born.
False narrative to slander George. Tired of seeing this misinformation everywhere.
@@arthurpendragon3000yup, he’s just another Hollywood selfish individual
I’m sorry, but given that the divorce court and family loss system is heavily female - biased, she made out like a bandit. She took him for a ton in the divorce. It was absolutely no reason nor incentive for him to give her half of the franchise.any man who would’ve done that would’ve been a fool.
Her skills as an editor instrumental and contributing to the success of the three movies? Absolutely. Was her contribution more important than that of George Lucas is the creator of the franchise? Not even remotely. She was one small piece of the puzzle. He was the one who gathered the pieces together and assembled them.
She did her part, she got her pay, and she got a hefty sum in the divorce settlement. She could’ve had effective ownership of Star Wars right along with him by staying and making the marriage work. She didn’t. Probably he didn’t either. They’re both to blame. But by no stretch of the imagination did he “screw her over”. Star Wars was his baby. She just contributed it to it, like any other editor would have. That she was the right fit as editor for George Lucas’s films, was a happy circumstance, and a big risk on his part. It is rarely successful or a good thing working with family, or working with a spouse. They prove to be that rare exception. And she did no favor during the divorce editing that final film. It was a job, nothing more. And she earned her pay. Nothing more.
