Censorship isn't designed to protect anyone it's designed to combat freedom of speech/expression
Its typical of sony
Remember when the right wing were ones doing this back in the day, now the left is doing it but even more extreme.
Censorship is designed to appease investors and activist developers. If a company censors its material, they value their investors more than their customers.
Its designed to make beautiful woman feel bad for being sexy
It's caving in to the demands of a very small, yet very loud minority.
They are treating rated "Mature" games like they should be made for children.
Except when it comes to games like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Last of Us 2, and we all know why.
Nah... Just the Eastern ones. It's like I've been saying all along. Those who screech racism until their face is blue are the true racists.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Why are you guy’s crying it literally the same outfit calm down
At this rate, "M" will only be for a few swear words. What's the difference between "T" and "M" these days?

It's not a deal at all because if the goal was to "censor" revealing outfits, then why are all of the other revealing outfits not censored?
If they were SEPERATE outfits, then no one would mind it.
Yeah, or like a setting for less cleavage and blood.
They could say the censored ones really were a design decision but will patch in the originals as additions due to fan demand.
Yep and not one person would spend resources on the more covered one
Or just at least have a censorship toggle like how they have the ponytail length toggle.
@@TrueBlueMajikDewdYep be additive not subtractive.
Don’t get what is so hard to understand about that.
People don't like anything they were given or promised taken away regardless of the reason why.
This has Sony written all over it.
You have fallen Sony. You used to be more carefree than Nintendo. Now you and Nintendo flipped places.
I still don't get how they became more censored than "family friendly" Nintendo!
Sony used to be Japanese, now it's American. That's why.
do you even remember when they "used to be more carefree than Nintendo" because that ended around the beginning of PS4... and that was AFTER the shitshow from PS3 that did not sell BECAUSE they betrayed the fans... so... normal sony behavior?
I remember that for dead or alive scarlet, the playstation versions are censored while the nintendo switch version is uncensored. The game isn't available in western version of e-shops though, so you can only get it on Asia e-shops or buy a physical release by importing it.
Actually, Nintendo's been pretty lax on censorship sense the mid 90s. They've allowed many T and M rated games on their platforms, (even published some like Rare's "Conkers Bad Fur Day") and surprisingly left some things uncensored in a few of their games like red blood in Kirby 3 and EarthBound, and allow many female characters to dress suggestively in their games.
Even their "family/kiddy," games have pretty dark or scary things in them. Some of the monsters from Zelda or Kirby are nightmare-ish. So honestly I don't really see Nintendo as a "kiddy" company.
This type of censorship isn’t anything surprising coming from Sony they’ve done it before with other Anime/asian games. It’s absolutely crazy to me that we’re living in a world where NINTENDO freaking NINTENDO is more allowing of this kind of stuff then Sony is.
Having full on sex with animals (Baldur's Gate 3) = Yes
Wearing slightly revealing outfits (Stellar Blade) = No

Its not about that, its about sonys "exclusives" contract, in it, the devs signed away their rights. Its public, you can read it, the dude who started the petition knows this, but chose not to tell anyone. That's why some games are allowed uncensored. The devs of Stellar Blade sold their rights to freedom when they signed the contact, and knew from day 1 it would be censored and lied to gamers.
@@robcoguy6909 They did that even to non exclusive games. As soon as you release your game on a sony console, prepare to be cucked over.

@@CD-vb9fi LMFAO Basically since the early 2010's.
Remember Sony is the company that killed off DoA and Senran Kagura because of their forced censorship.
Clearly sony, as Zenless Zone Zero got censored just after they announced PS5 release lol
Damn bastardo ruined Japan Studio, and then, their game -- Gravity Rush.
It just makes no sense at this point. Sony is ok with Abby's sex scene in TLOU 2 and you can play the entirety of Baldur's Gate 3 completely nude...so why censor a clothed character? She's already covered up...
So essentially Sony is basically saying if you want to do anything remotely risque, you might as well go full nudity because you're LESS likely to be censored. In our weird upsidedown world, FULL NUDITY is MORE acceptable than suggestive clothing.
Some have theorized that anime and Japanese games in general have a bias against them when it comes to censorship. An anime game will get censored, yet the photo-realistic violent game like The Last of Us: Part 2 won't have its sex scene censored. And on another note, some people are allowed their degeneracy while others aren't (see the media reaction to the Baldur's Gate 3 Bear sex scene versus the reaction to a conventionally sexy female character).
Well, I would bet Abby isn't exactly catering the the "male gaze" of the majority of men, so it doesn't trigger the wokies who live to try to deny straight men anything they enjoy.
Those two games are western. This one isn't. They put a huge lens flare on a nude butt crack in the latest DmC, another eastern. See the pattern?
@@MrPMAntunes Yes, the east censors NUDITY but they don't censor clothing, having played many Japanese/Korean games myself they more often have FAR more risque clothing than Western games.
The west censors clothes but not nudity, the east censors NUDITY but not clothing... bizarrely only one of these makes sense.
Example; Anime is INFAMOUS for lewd fan service across the board while Mass Effect removed Miranda's fully clothed butt shot.
@@flarestorm9417 Asian cultures still have some level of modesty so they censor nudity, but allow risque clothing so long as everything is covered up..that makes sense. The West however, has a weird thing where nudity is fine...but scantly clad women are not because THAT is sexualization...but nudity isn't? It's odd.

It's unlikely that Shift Up intended for this censorship, especially since they showcased those outfits in the demo. It seems more likely that certain gaming journalists and consulting firms pressured Sony, claiming that failure to censor would lead to backlash and lower sales. These groups may have more influence due to their established relationships, which is why it's important to support Shift Up while also criticizing and Cancelling subscriptions to Sony to show that gamers oppose censorship. Game journalists may be pushing for censorship to see the game fail, allowing them to claim they were right if it does.
Agreed. Shift Up put out a game on disk that plays flawlessly on launch without updates. This sort of last minute change reeks of the usual Sony meddling. Making changes to the designs that eat up time and money with no benefit to Shift Up makes no sense otherwise.

MK went woke with MK 10. MK9 was the last good one with smexy characters. MK has been dead for a decade or more.
@@npc2153 True! And that's for another "virtuous" reason that's just as stupid and hypocritical, but not quite the same level of double standard happening here. The (western) game's gore is worse yet still conveniently present.
I dont understand why you censor an adult game. It makes no fucking sense if you're making games that are made for adults. I hate when people say it's not a big deal, you sell me a whole chicken but give me half. Fuck off Sony!
it's another case of "tell me you're racist to Koreans without saying you're racist"
Why kneel to the wokies? If the game doesn't appeal to them, then it doesn't appeal to them.
Would be typical Sony if they said "okay, y'all want the fully uncensored version? Pay 10 bucks more" 😂
Just signed the petition. It's literally the definition of a bait & switch; not acceptable, no matter how subtle.
SONY sued a man into poverty over him altering his own personal property once upon a time, so that's not a Nintendo thing, that's a greedy corporate overlord thing.
TBF, I could see Nintendo doing something similar, albeit with how protective they are of their IPs instead of a user altering their stuff.
@@oriongear2499 Each company has their own quirks that are very annoyingly stuck on depenting on who the managers and CEO is.
Sony for example doesn't bother much with emulation and fan projects as Nintendo does but they are more censor friendly.
@@oriongear2499 They censored Garry's Mod for having Nintendo mods.

This censorship is a total control freak communist struggle session. Thanks black rock big brother
Yep, its going this route and fast.
Overused but this is getting worse
Sony back then was like a high-school cheerleader that liked to strut her stuff in front the boys. Sony now is a Karen in a pantsuit that forbids her daughter from wearing the same things that she did when she was young.
Honest to god, I'm starting to feel like I will have better luck with having a Japanese production company work on any IP I own and saying no to having any games made from my stuff localized due to the west being trigger happy with censoring shit.
Like, my entire company is working on splitting up the divisions like this: SFW = Kids/NSFW = Adults when it comes to what it produces as books, manga, comics and the like, so I think I will stay away from the west when it comes to localization.
I don't understand how people keep on pre ordering games in 2024.
SONY got their money now without refunding what they bought in the first place. Poor customer
I'm having fun with my game lol. It's 1.00 and unpatched. I don't regret my pre-order. If we didn't buy it, then its still an L. Cause now the company will think we don't want that.
sheep never learn
I mean I agree, don’t preorder anything. The first batch of any product is never worth it.
However, I’m an adult with a family and a job. I didn’t have time to waste on the internet listening to women that look like Andy Dick tell me how horrible I am..
I bought the game today with no knowledge of the censorship fiasco, no preorder, just bought a game that looked cool. Probably my mistake for not being perpetually online lol.
@willybe6427 And yet here you are responding a comment on the internet about a videogame.
If they don't fix it, I say launch a class-action lawsuit for false advertising.
a class action and a single lawyer would likely be sufficient to make the point.
@@Oblithian Very easily at that.
@@rh906 ones that want to make money, that's how lawsuits work.
Exactly. They promised one product. An uncensored product. And then they changed it after they had our money. At the least they should be forced to offer refunds to anyone that wants one.
@@rh906 Oh shit, back up, rh906 is flaunting his authority. all hail mr rh3257827567.
Shift up has another game out there called goddess of victory: Nikke. Anyone who has played it can tell you that any censorship that was done in Stellar blade was not a call made by them.
In Nikke it's the ads and promo images that are censored, in game... Not at all.
Shift Up censored Nikke..what are you even talking about? They even used the exact same excuse as they're using now, word for word. Sure, the censoring is less now, but they DID do it.
@@clockworkheart5844 Didn't they started censoring the game around the same time they got bought out by some Chinese company? And they reversed said decisions once they started getting backlash?
They better bring the original version back!!!
The Holiday Rabbit one is especially hilarious when you consider that the original design is no more sexual than the bathing suits from Baywatch in the 80s and 90s. Also, the vast majority of people, including women, do not run around in double clothed shirts besides a bra. You may see people with a jacket or a sweater for those who are more modest, but it is not common at all to have double layered shirts, especially not something that is practically a bathing suit.
Not to mention that both female teenagers and adults tend to go for lighter clothing like t-shirts, blouses, and one layered shirts in everyday life. That Tifa blouse is no different from what teenage girls like my own sisters wore in the 2000s. It was very common fashion at the time, especially during the Spice Girls era.
This entire thing is just ludicrous.
Sony's cowardice is very much present here.
Didn't know that adults needed to be treated like children
Some of these outfits look blatantly censored, like no time went in to changing it.
It looks like a cosplay Instagram girl when she shades her under and sideboob..
The biggest mistake developers can do is not listen to what the fans want. Shame on everyone involved in this censorship.
How much censor has a game became
@@animezilla4486 If you ask about that Stellar Blade the censorship it´s not much the outfits are still sexy and Eve is still the same as for the blood i have heard that this was will not have been in the game it was just for the trailer or the demo. If you ask it´s ok that they have done it NO . But i am worry because people are thinking boycotting the game that we will kill it ourselves . I get it but a lot a people are going rage mod because o a bit censorship and after so many games with characters like Abby from the last of us we finally have a go looking fem that looks like fem and that rage mod worries me . We can kill it ourselves and then we are going to stuck with Abby
@@xaxaxaxaxa6417 Boycotts work. Especially if they double-down about this censorship going forward. It needs to stop.
@xaxaxaxaxa6417 Even The Last of Us, going forward will lose out if majority of gamers just give Sony the finger. This is coming from an overall longtime Sony loyalist. But i've been sick of their shit politics for awhile now. PS5 will probably be my last console purchase from Sony, and I barely use it these days, preferring to play games off Steam on my fully capable "Next-Gen" quality gaming laptop.
@@LordSabbathiel This wont happen the majority off ps 5 owners will buy a ps 6 consoles will always be here . I have a gaming pc rtx 3050 ryzen7 but i also like to play on my ps5
Offline mode and physical discs became really important for gamers this week.
I sense a whole bunch of refunds coming.

Now a bunch of Hollywood studios are hiring anime studios it’s already begun

@@mmecharlottethat is true, but people will get tired of elected officials and eventually decide that they want a monarch. I'm a conservative and I think we need to implement a monarchy in the modern age that's anti-woke.

@@mmecharlotteI concur. Remember there’s going to be a lot of backstabbing long term. I don’t think the likes of piracy and emulation are going to make it or will suffer severely repercussions long term.
More Hebrew nonsense. The usual suspects.
Gamers have every right to be pissed off. I don't want to jump to conclusions but it feels like it's well in line with all the controversy building up to this game's release.
Good grief. Sony needs to stop getting in customers way. This is very unprofessional and frustrating.
So instead of admitting that they backpedaled on their promise not to censor, they decided to claim they instead intentionally released an unfinished game?
I agree, I point to Sony as the culprit. They must have waited for everyone to let their guard down and do the purchase before change things. I don't really care about the clothes being the way they are, but the fact that they not only announced that there would be no censorship but also showed these clothes in the trailer makes me indignant at the censorship. Pure false advertising.
Exactly they did this to many Japanese developers that raged against Sony after it screw them.
Sony does this thing were they force change on them the last minute after they already finished the game while during development it tells them is ok so they will be in a corner since they already wasted tons of money and already made the game and need to sell it to not go bankrupt.
They changed her body shape too. They added like 40 lbs to her it seems.
There is a reason I do not have a Playstation any longer.....I'm not saying this is it, but I am saying this is adding to the list of reasons.
I got fed up with them in the mid to late PS4 and Vita shenanigans. I'm not missing much not owning a PS5, and strangely Nintendo got some of the banned Vita ports.
That is why I’m waiting for the pc release since it’s gonna happen anyways
@@Mac_Omegaly I left before PS4, lol. But I don't blame you for that. I have appreciated Nintendo a lot more lately.
Sony is already gonna lose lots of money because people are canceling their PS+ subscriptions. That combined with Kern’s petition and the potential for a lawsuit based on false advertisement, Sony would be better off giving gamers what they want, what they were promised. And if the journalists/activists don’t like it, too bad.
People bought the game because they liked what they saw. Many people bought the game as a support vote, for teams that did not sensor, nor listen to Sweet Baby Inc.
Now those people feel betrayed.
Toggle. Give me a toggle. Woke versus normal. Give me a toggle.
Don’t lie to gamers.
The problem is Sony
They didn’t lie…
Also, if does launch on PC, if they haven't reverted these changes by then I guarantee the community will on principle. Texture and model swaps are not that complex and we've already got access to the original content thanks to the physical disk, so it won't even be a matter or recreating them.
This is taking away your ownership! It's theft! They are thieves.
This is why I am hesitant to buy any new game period. Seems a bud light boycott might be warranted now.
I wanted to happen what Budlight did when they screw their consumer to SONY.
BOYCOTT must happen so they realize they are not the one who will decide what the consumer wants.
