Something that helped me break free was something my therapist said. I explained to her my “ plan “. We would get a place with two rooms so I had a space just to myself and we would get something one of us could afford on our own so that if we needed to we would be fine. She said is it a good idea if you’re already putting together an escape plan?
My coworker was like this when i was pregnant. She would come into work saying she didn't sleep because her back hurt, and she was nauseous because she was feeling it with me
Honestly, there is nothing depressing about being single. And there is nothing nauseatingly codependent about being in a relationship. In a relationship, both parties must focus on their lives first to become financially independent just so they can start a family. Being in a relationship is serious news. And it takes responsibility. Who is goona take care of the children emotionally, and physically, and financially? And take care of eachother and themselves at the same time? Both parties! Grownups! Mature grownups who learned about everything they could about the world. Just like being single. Who is gonna take care of yourself? You! And you can go to parties, and meet friends.
I both love how cliche and impulse driven they were. Like Barney being a toxic male played by gay legend NPH and then Allison straight up being a classic toxica who's great in bed but loves a reason to fight.
I know it looks bad, but we had it and my wife knew when I was having a really bad day and called me because somehow she was feeling it too and it's the best feeling in the world.
