Hot take: Eli was the top guy in 450s, but hes not one of greats like Ricky, James, and the Ryan's. After Dungey retired, Roczen had the potential untill his slew of injuries, then Eli became the defacto top dawg. Thus, the bar was set based on how fast Eli was. The rest guys assumed they just needed to be able to compete at his pace because it was seen as the highest level, when in reality there was more left on the table. Thats why when Herlings came over here he beat everyone. Untill then, they all thought they were at limits of what could be done. Now we have Jett who truly is in the same tier as RC and Bubba, and the rest of the guys have to up their game to catch up.
