- Clinton Fowler speaks on weather Jett Lawrence will get another perfect season under his belt this pro motocross season.
My guest today is Clinton Fowler, the man behind the fantastic statistics that you hear each and every weekend on the Supercross broadcast as well as the fantastic online resource wewentfast.com and his own instagram @fowlerfacts. Clinton gave up his high-paying job at Microsoft developing the XBox to work in the action sports world with Red Bull and wound up developing the sports first detailed database almost on accident. I am a big storylines guy in the sport and no matter what story you throw Clintons way, he has a stat to either back it up or shoot you down. This was a highly enjoyable episode of the podcast with an extremely interesting and knowledgeable guy!
If you enjoyed the stats side of this show, you can sign up to wewentfast.com to get access to Fowlers great database and a ton of unique stories that I doubt you have ever heard!
Watched JL18 at Unadilla, NY 2023… I have never watched anyone ride so fast yet looks so slow. Graceful, purposeful, and he look like he was out for a fun ride through the hills. Meanwhile, the pack behind him looked like floundering B class MX’ers… Amazing!
I don't think anyone is gonna touch RCs stats but Jett going undefeated in his rookie season with ease is all time. It would be legendary if he repeats
Yeah just even getting a single perfect is fucking legendary, 3 humans in all of history have ever done it thus far, and to do it at mostly 19 is just unreal. No matter how much people wanna shit on jett, he is going to be in the HOF exactly 5 years after he retires with record level stats. He may make things boring but you gotta respect the game 😂
Well Jett is better than rc was at this point of his career. And he went perfect with chase breathing down his neck almost half of the races. Jett is a complete rider. I can’t think of a rider who has been as complete as Jett. He’s the fastest indoors and out. Even the riders who could do both were better in one discipline than they were the other.
The field was a bit down last year, but this year it's so deep and if Jett covers everyone it's insane.
I'm an Eli fan, but I think Jett wins 8 overalls, I'd set the line at 8.5, which is pretty insane.
The field is way thicker now
@@AlyssaMahoney-cz9sd everyone says that but who didn't he race last year besides Eli though?
I don't know much about this dude (Clinton I mean) but i like him. Talks it real and doesn't feel the need to just shit on anyone
Watch Jett go undefeated again. That would be gnar gnar bruh
Then undefeated sx back to back would be crazy
That RC stat is crazy
He's won 102 overall outdoor nationals out of a possible 126...he lost 24 times and never lost a title, 10 out of 10, 2 perfect seasons, and in 2005 won 22 motos and all 12 overalls
@@yamahakid450fthey’re crazy numbers. How is there even a conversation about who the GOAT is.
Jett will go undefeated again unless he gets unlucky. No one and I mean no one is beating him straight up.
Jett will definitely go undefeated again maybe not this season but definitely throughout the rest of his career
Jett could go perfect again but it's a long shot. I don't necessarily see anyone beating him straight up in a head to head situation. But he could very easily throw away a couple motos like he almost did last year.
No matter how good you are a perfect season takes at least some luck. He probably wont be as lucky this year. That being said I won't be surprised if he wins 17 motos and 9 overalls.
I wanted to take a minute and tell you thank you for getting me back into dirt bikes. I haven’t owned one or raced since 04. I came across your channel and have fell back in love with the sport. Now I just need to figure out if I want a 250 four stroke or another 2 banger. Ps. You are the RC of moto podcasts ! Keep up the great work 👍
RC won every outdoor championship he raced, never lost 😳
the problem with Jett having a perfect season in his rookie year is people are going to expect him to do it again (I am one of those people)
Living in two worlds: 1) I love to see records broken...Go Jett! and 2) I love to see underdogs win and Jett is not an underdog.
THIS EPISODE THE INFORMATIVE INFORMATION IS GREAT. .JUST SHOWS HOW THESE RIDERS ARE SO GIFTED LIKE GODS THAT DO THINGS THAT MORTALS JUST CAN,T DO .GREAT ENTERTAINMENT ❤️❤️❤️👍
Jett is flying only will get faster providing no major injuries(touchwood). I think if Hunter has no more big hits then he's going to pressure his little brother. So awesome seeing fast, clean and close racing between them. They almost block pass others racing and never take someone out bad. Reminds me of V8 Supercars or Nascar, just with more adrenalin pumping action. Avagud1
I think Jett is more confident outdoors and will be more determined to go unbeaten knowing he will probably win the championship again even if he loses a race or two it’s going to be exciting even if he doesn’t 👍🇦🇺
It would be incredible but much more difficult this season. Simply because of the chance for crash/injury in any race. Also, if the better riders get thru Salt Lake healthy, it's going to be tougher for Jett do rip past dudes after a bad start. Def looking forward to see how it unfolds:).
He could do it for sure but that's a gnarly sport anything can happen
I believe he is very capable of doing it again with how easily he beat sexton each round. With sexton being pretty much the only guy who could beat tomac straight up. Although I don’t see him inviting that pressure again for every single moto for the entire season
A lot of those races he won.....chase had the lead and fell or was right on his tail and then fell....chase just had a problem with falling. It wasn't like chase rode perfectly and Jett just crushed him. Yeah jett won by a decent amount a lot of those races but it had a lot to do with chase just not staying on the bike. Super impressive to go undefeated tho. Huge props but he isn't doing that again
And Chase missed how many rounds after crash at first round?
I feel like Chase wasn’t on the same level in 2023 as he was in 2022. Between the crashes, mono and him not gelling with the bike I feel like he never found his rhythm. If he had, he probably would have beat Jett in a few races
@@claydurban8411 Chase said it himself that Jett raised the bar last year.
@@skylerwade5916like Webb said, you have to stay healthy… it’s not Jetts fault they break so easy.
Maybe a couple tracks Eli can take him. But 18!is just on another level now
I knew Jett was gonna be good when he won Mxon on his first 450 showing.
Jett can absolutely go undefeated. But to say Jett beat Chase last year and just act like that was the same Chase we saw in 22 is just wrong. Chade came in injured for one and was just building.
Oh stop it. Chase was fine for the majority of the season.
@@TheShepdawg9 he was definitely hindered by it half the season.
@@marmaleg5309 yeah? That's fine. Still absolutely spanked him in the other 11 motos
@@TheShepdawg9 I agree Jett spanked him. I just think Chase wasn't ever as good as in 22
@@marmaleg5309 Chase said it himself in multiple press conferences throughout the season that he was riding faster than he was in 22, and that the level had been raised.
no way that jett goes undefeated 2 year in a row
At this point Jett is better outdoors than indoors but it’s going to be a difficult series to win
6:10 I've experienced beginners luck and honestly it's annoying because the next time you do it it's just hard for some reason. For example the first time I wrapped my street bike it was a breeze, 2 years later I decided to change the color and it was a pain in the ass. I'm not saying Jett was lucky, I'm just saying that's my experience doing some things for the first time. Rarely it happens but it happens
thats not really comparable, doing something all year round is different than doing something once and trying it again 2 years later.
@@neildon2216 Very true
I mean dude the fact I’m even nervous about them talking about it means it could happen 💀
I believe Jett will go undefeated again.
Jett will not be undefeated just because the pressure is off. He will probably go easy on some tracks.
If he gets good starts. Stays on two wheels. Stays injury free absolutely he will.
Perhaps inclement weather can slow him down outdoors
I think Jett is the new JS7 and Deegan will be the new RC. Jett is an amazing talent with tons of speed, but Haiden also has a lot of speed and an unmatched dedication and desire to win.
Haiden has worry about winning 250 titles nevermind 450 titles. His technique is nowhere near as good as Jetts.
😂😂 Deegan will never be as good as rc let alone Jett
You can’t say Deegan is going to be anything let alone RC. He hasn’t won shit, what 1 outdoor and 2 SX races…. That’s 2 seasons of SX now. He has floundered at best
@@dbzgameplay9034 you do realize that so far, Haiden has won more than Jett had at this point in his career? Not to mention he won the SMX championship. He will be better than Jett
@@dbzgameplay9034are you aware of ricky’s early career? I’m not comparing the two but Ricky did not jump in sx and start automatically winning left and right lol
yeah i dont see eli getting jett in outdoors. I totally agree with this guy, eli just doesnt have 30 mins in him just yet. It may take him all year to get to where he was in 2022 and tbh i think jett is faster than 2022 chase and 2022 eli. Probably waaaaay faster, i mean its 2024 now jetts only gonna get better.
It would be mental if he did, i mean its easy to sit here saying he wont but dam, im sure we all said that a number of times last year right. I think Hunter and tomac and chase will get wins this year, webb will be out for a few months from what ive heard but over the course of the season its tough to see how jett can be beaten... CAN NOT WAIT for Prado to come over, wish he was on the star yamaha team though just cauae Kawi seem like such a meh team.
Stew and ricky only had Chad Reed to beat when they went undefeated dungy and villopoto were in 250 or just starting in 450.Eli won't have anything for Jett ,Hunter , sexton and maybe Justin Cooper. Cooper web might be in the mix , but after Denver Webb looked a little wore down,I know he was "hurt" but I think Webb worked really hard to become the #1 guy at star and to give Jett something to worry about but he looks like it cooked him.
If tomac would have beat.him anywhere it would have been at southwick. Tomac is always on rails there
Only person that threatens Jett for straight up racing, will be Hunter.
The perfect season is one gigantic asterisk the only factory rider not recovering from serious injury was jet we are just now starting to see chase back to normal
The talent level and depth of field is way higher than in the past when it was done..
Who did Stewart go perfect against? A bunch of riders with zero combined titles. Jett's season is arguably the 2nd best all time.
That’s a bit harsh old mate how bout u go play snap with a 5 yo and see if u can get 22 in arow
That’s no different than the other perfect seasons
The meat riding is next level.
How?
Eli won't beat jett once barring a crash or break down from jett. Jett is 10 years his junior and dominated the guy that Eli was neck and neck with the year before. Eli from 3 years ago when he won the outdoors might have had a chance and i want him to give jett a run for his money, but i just don't see it happening.
Not a chance jett will go undefeated this outdoors. Eli will beat him more than once.
Eli doesn't have the fitness to go full tilt for a 21 minute SX main, let alone a 35 minute moto.
@seanhaberman4619 because he isn't 100% back to fitness yet. But every week he is getting stronger.
Eli will win some
@@chriss7930 didn't look like it this week.
Even if he does improve throughout the summer it's going to take months and months to get there.
I could see him maybe winning a moto or two if Jett crashes or starts way back in the pack. He's not going to beat him straight up. Just like he hasn't all year.
Yup that’s what you all said before supercross too. I think there’s a 30 percent chance it happens if he doesn’t crash and stays on 2 wheels.
2:53 a rookie where the champ from the year b4 isnt racing hahah what ??
He beat more former champions than James or Ricky did in their undefeated seasons. But keep hating.
Absolutely not there are many other riders capable of winning besides just Jett , wait and watch .
I'm so sick of the bull argument that ricky beat stewart due to fitness. Its blatantly untrue. Ricky more often than stewart posted the fastest lap time of any given race. If the stewart speed narrative was true, he'd often have the fastest lap time but would just lose out in the final few laps. That's not what happened at all. Go back and look for yourselves.
No
you guys are high if you think Jett is gonna beat Eli 22 times in a row and not make a mistake for 44 straight motos...not logically. not logically to think Jetts season last year doesnt deserve an * when the champion from b4 wasnt even in the series from a fluke major injury...like what lol....to think Jett is gonna win 44 motos straight vs Chase and Eli and not make a major mistake this year in 22 more motos..hes on a 22 streak..hes 5 off his nuke or 8 depedning the CoD ur frying on, but bro...hes not dropping a 44 gun streak. hes not in a noob lobby...hes on a 22-0 streak in a Top 250 Ranked lobby....hes notta gonna keep that and drop 22 more kills in a row...hes gonna get caught reloading or over chall or get flown at by 3 dudes at once off a weird spawwn and get sent back to the real world...im not even hating..this is just statistacally so impossible to go 44-0 espescially with Eli up...stoppit, get some help.
Jett probably won't go perfect this year. But Eli won't have anything to do with it. Don't kid yourself. He's stomped on Eli in SX and Jett is far better outdoors than in SX.
Exactly right get off the nut. (Jett’s nut) the truth is the champion was not there period end of story. He would not have went undefeated. Who knows maybe Eli wins the championship again. Don’t forget that chase matched him moto 2 at fox raceway and was faster, just couldn’t get it done. He was out for how many rounds? Of course he’s not gonna push to the max because he was not in the championship.
Who cares if Eli wasn't there. It was still far stiffer competition than Ricky or James faced when they went perfect. All the factory guys Jett beat have beaten Tomac at one time or another. Hell Ferrandis beat Eli for a title 2 years earlier.
@@seanhaberman4619 no one is arguing how great the accomplishment is. You say who cares if Eli wasn’t there? So if Jett got hurt right before the series and chase won every moto would you have that same energy? See how ignorant your comment is? Or to sit there and say that if Tomac and or 2022 Sexton was there he’d still go undefeated is once again plain ignorance.
no shot 20/1 chance....Tomac not there makes its ot legit...100% Eli wouldve beat him. stoppit...Eli is gonna beat him this year so so stoppit./
Eli's only in to make a good money year before he retires. I dont see him wanting to be the top guy at this point of his career
Tired of hearing this Aussies voice. Give me American sounding Men.
You'd hear more Americans if they could win.
Only if they identify as female they might win in the ladies division.
Lol what a bundy, jog on princess
What’s a American should like? Broke back mountain ?
Jett might not go perfect again this year but, he is going to make everyone look 2nd rate.
