When I used to work at a dealership I always had guys asking me what exhaust they shound put on their brand new bikes and I always said to not waste your money on an exhaust, spend the money on suspension and thank me later!
I've been waiting to hear what you thought about the black jacks. Good to hear!
I've ridden fantastic suspension and horrid suspension.
Most don't know what great suspension is or feels like, they just ride it as is.
Suspension is the first place to spend your money.
Good suspension helps keep you out of the hospital
Ken Roczen would argue differently
No, knowing your skill level and making intelligent choices about risk management keeps you out of the hospital.
@@christophervillarreal8565both keeps you out of the hospital
Agreed. It can save ya.
@@christophervillarreal8565 thanks for that PSA captain obvious. That's definitely something a goon would say. 😂
I’ve ridden stock and I’ve ridden tuned, proper spring rates and valving and I will take the tuned Every time!
Run it in, take time to dial the suspension in, look at oio weight and height, spring rate and run more towards soft but quick. As you go faster then weight, height, spring rate etc can be adjusted.
When youve exhausted what can be done, then maybe look towards more costly mods but exhaust what you can do with what you have out of the crate. Remember, the sales fellas want you to spend whether you need it or not.
Game changer for me cone valve and trax shock and low bend pro tapers ...chucked the high bend stiff af twinwalls in the bin
I recently did the same with the high bend pro tapers.
Hi, Thanks. At 6'4" 250ish not getting my forks and shock sprung and valved for me was never an option...Other people rind my bikes the weigh 70 lbs less and still can't believe how great my bike works... I bought a 23 ktm smr and had to buy Ohlins for it my front tire felt like it was on Mars...It is really better money spent than buying a pipe!
Suspension will improve any bike more than any other mod when it comes to being able to ride it to your potential.
Just curious how long people in your circle have been using the term “ yard sale”. I swear my brother first coined the term.
Dude. I jumped the smallest jump too but broke my back.. not even kidding, my skid plate (works connection) became loose and pushed under my linkage and when I went to seat bounce a little 40 ft double bucked me over the bars and the rear tire landed on the center of my back and broke my back netweeem my shoulder blades and crushed my sternum
Rode my whole career on stock suspension and settings. Became pretty fast but I can’t even tell you how much faster I could’ve gone on some nice suspension 😂
You guys are nuts. Sprung and valved suspension for your weight and riding style/track makes a ton of difference. 25% right out of the gate. That = lower lap times less fatigue
Excellent Suspension ‘ pays for itself ‘ Everytime you hit bumps… etc
For most riders, 90 percent of this is setup. Properly maintaining and setting your stock suspension gets you most of the way there. Trick suspension is great, but having it properly set for the individual is paramount. Just go check sag, the most basic setting, on a bunch of average riders bikes. The majority will be wrong.
I’m six foot 4 220 ish pounds,
Working on getting down to 200. I want to make the bike more comfortable too as standing can be a bust. No interest in modding the motor as I’m not racing. Used to as a kid. I’d say I’m prob a vet track rider now but I aspire to get to an intermediate speed sometime. I am interested in getting my suspension done for me. I don’t think I need any 4k$ a lot stuff but where should I start? Just a re valve and re spring ? I have stock bar mounts and clamps so I’m looking at the Luxon ones that come with the rubber dampeners and can raise the bars a little bit then I gotta figure out what bar bend to go with. I’m hoping that if I can get them raised enough maybe I won’t need a high raise bar. Right now it’s renthal with the crossbar but I wanna go back to the square pad type ones
Yeah man take your bike to the local suspension pro and have it valves and sprung for your weight/skill/type of riding. You’ll thank me later
I'm not that tall, but Chris Birch IS, and his advice for tall riders is lower pegs, slightly taller seat, and he doesn't have any time for bar risers or high bend bars. Check out his videos and general bike knowledge. I have stock KTM 640 bars on my EXC (even lower than the EXC ones) and I'm the only rider in my group that doesn't loop out on gnar hill climbs. Make of that what you will, but I'll tell you for free I'm not the best rider.
@@OGLD im in so cal so im thinking of going to enzo.
@@duncanshepherd2119 i got the lower foot pegs! forgot to mention that, and yes i plan on getting the tall seat. i think i have the renthal twinwall 966 bars on mine right now. lots of people say the flatter bars are better, which is why i was thinking about that bar riser bar mount. What about triple clamps? i have heard it helps with the feel, but then i heard it also stiffens everything up which i dont know if i need that?
@@danielgallocker2692 I couldn't comment on whether the billet triples are worth the money, I guess they are a bit more gentle on clamping the fork tubes, so you might gt less stiction. My money (on a bike that had suspension beautifully setup by my buddy I bought it from) went into a better ECU first, and then just tires and petrol.
Bottom line, once the suspension is done nicely, I see more improvement with better body positioning than I do with more power.
Setup correctly it should give you the confidence to push harder.
I would pay to see pro riders race a bone stock bikes vs each other for like a 3 race series.
Not on KTM, have Powerband rework the stock stuff and works 💯 better.
😂😂😂😂😂
I swear you’ve dropped this cut 3x already 🧐
Dont even have to watch this to answer that… yes yes yes every single time. Its a tool in the tool box
It's useless for 99% of amateur riders.
even the top 1% of guys cant tell the difference between some of these things. Snake oil.
These comments are crazy here’s a thought… read your owners manual and learn how to adjust your suspension for what you want. It’s not rocket science. Once you know how to adjust your suspension and set it up for your weight and level of comfort you want you’d be amazed how good stock suspension really is. Spending 4-10k on suspension when you’re not even pro level is absurd.
Stock suspension is plenty enough for 99% of riders. Less than 1% of the mx crowd can even tell the difference between 4 clicks of suspension, let alone coatings and gold valves. Lmao.
Racers must be careful! Cheap MX suspension companies =USUALLY CHEAP quality.
No… no it’s not. The average rider will never max out the full potential of the stock suspension.
What’s with all the swearing, jeez I thought i was bad with it
Go watch racer x 😂
If you thought you were bad with it, why complain? harden up timmy
Always talks more than the person he's interviewing. Not a fan, leave mx alone.
Jog on mate, nobody cares if you’re a fan.
