    Before we get into this episode though, I wanted to share with you some awesome news regarding our first ever race, the Gypsy Tales 500.
    Vurbmoto and Gypsy Tales are putting on an 8hr Grand Prix style event in Mesquite, NV. Using one of Gypsy’s favorite events, Australia’s Transmoto series, as inspiration, this will be an 8hr team or solo (for the Savages) race with your boys (or girls). The course will consist of a tamed down moto track and off-road loop, averaging 20 min lap times. The goal? Have fun, kick some beers and race your buddies. It’s worth noting this is a 125cc and Up race, no mini bikes allowed.
    As far as the course goes, it will be part moto, part off-road - Sunday’s loop will be a unique course with an average lap time of 20 minutes. The loop will include terrain for the average rider along with a tamed down motocross track with no mandatory jumps. Again, this is a vibe race and will be built for all rider disciplines.

    Biggest wrong thing was Rob Warner not doing commentary 🤦‍♂️ other things were... difficult to watch, hard to follow results for new viewers, putting riders at risk more times per event with semi finals, 1 half decent commentator and 1 terrible (if you know you know) and riders not being paid enough for risking their lives week after week!!! Get Rob Warner on jase!!!

    Shaun Palmer was also a massive name in snowboarding, had his own video game and board company. The money he got had more to do with that than anything else.
    Great episode, Tahnee’s such a beast!

    On the downhill pay and coverage. I work at a bike shop and we live stream the downhill races. No one cares. My shop is 90% mtb and we're just over an hour from snowshoe. No one cared. Snowshoe locals were annoyed it was there. Mtb has become so much more about the products than the sport. Most of my mtb customers will dump thousands on new parts and kashima bullshit to pedal around the town and never hit a jump.

      A lot of people where I'm from in socal watch, and def would go. Tons go people go to all the Big Bear events. I don't think that your specific experience reflects the rest of the country. Racing isn't for everyone either, lots of people tune into freeride events and attendance doesn't seem to be a problem.

    First generation female/nobody to look up to?! Anne Caroline Chausson, Tracey Moesley, Jill Kintner, Missy Giove, Sabrina Jonnier and I think Tahnee has previously mentioned Vanessa Quinn as a role model in another podcast.....Female DH in the late 90's early 00's was without doubt a big thing, try give those legends the credit they deserve.

    • @TeddyParker
      @TeddyParker Před 4 měsíci

      Precisely. Kinda bummer note to start the episode on seemingly dumping the amazing achievements of so many early female riders but I think they both accidentally pigeon holed themselves into that narrative. Skipping over ACC's career in terms of being someone to look up to is ridiculous. As well as skipping over Rachel Atherton in terms of of how inspiring she would be to DH girls, especially UK ones.
