Thanks for this review of the course without divulging any secrets. 💚 Funny that I actually love the "80s" look of the Touchstone journal - at least the cover, but small print is an issue for my ability to concentrate well. I work at a library, too, and before you mentioned that I thought you looked like someone who could be a friendly co-worker! 😊I'm glad you talked about the cost, and it is a great suggestion to save for it. Are the seasonal rituals able to be adapted to various environments/climates? I live in the SW U.S. (CA). Thanks! 💚

This was very interesting. I love how well you articulate your reasons for being glad that you joined OBOD. I ordered the Introductory packet from the Order this year, which I really appreciate. The cost is still something I need to consider, since I only work part-time at the moment. I normally connect with Nature on my walks, saying hello quietly to plants and animals along the way, and try to live an eco-friendly lifestyle (car-free, buy organic, reduce/reuse/recycle, etc.), but I am drawn to the ideas of structure and community that you mention are present in OBOD. I'm about halfway through OBOD's Bardic course, and my grove is always an actual grove of trees, but it also looks different every time I am in it. I'm hoping it will eventually become more stable.

I thought you didnt Have to puck a mentor, it was optional, or least it soudned that way to me, when I started the bard course. I haven't reached out to get a mentor, so how would the end of the course differ?

I joined obod this year and I understand that the mentor are to be contacted via email but having dyslexia makes it harder for me to both read and write and was wondering if there is an other option for getting in touch with a mentor ie video call, audio call??

Ivan was a key member of the Dobunni grove and a central part of the OBOD camps in the UK before moving to the states and starting his own order. He was therefore both influenced by and influenced OBOD. He was larger than life - the Dagda personified. A gentle man, capable of leading others through intense initiatory experiences safely and skilfully. His firewalks and fire labrynths were epic. He is sorely missed, and thanks for the nudge on his book - I must get my hands on a copy.

The material is second to none in all 4 grades but I found the office staff not especially friendly, helpful or responsive. I'm much more at home with ADF

What you are saying makes a lot of sense! But I would like to add that I think that perhaps this conflation between what we call magic and what we call quantum mechanics comes out of the Hermetic principle “As above so below”. It’s something that we see in fractals, in the similarities between the way trees grow, rivers run and the form of veins and arteries, or between the structure of a cell and the structure of a galaxy, repeating patterns that we see in the universe both micro and macro and perhaps even beyond to the structures of the multiverse themselves, why not. Just because we can explain it now doesn’t mean that we won’t be able to in the future, that’s the thing about scientific innovation. I just hope that we somehow manage to survive as a species long enough to reach that point in the continual human search for understanding “as within so without”. I’m in now way a physicist! I am but a humble amateur philosopher and a - not so humble - academically trained artist who loves science as a special interest. I was raised by biologists but couldn’t follow in their footsteps due to my various learning disabilities (I can’t do arithmetic without a calculator). Anyways, I hope that that makes sense, lol. 😊

Hi! Loved the Video ❤ Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I'm wondering if there's any kind of initiatory ritual at the end of the course and if I could print the booklets in case I chose only the on-line version I'm currently studying the bardic course in the BDO but honestly, it's too academic to handle sometimes! I'm thankful I'm given that much in deep information but I think I need something more practical. Plus I'm Spanish 😅 and reading in English is difficult enough for me so imagine having to dive into long pages of medieval compared literature with lots of terms in Welsh Thank you once again!
