  • If you manage to sit through my long tangent about compost (or skip to like minute 4), you'll find some spells for fertility, canning and preserving the harvest, and a ritual for seed saving. I just adore doing garden magick and the autumn is the perfect time to do tons of spells relating to gardens!

    I totally concur with you on feeling the most connected with spirits of place when gardening, and harvesting. Virgo is a powerful time for me. The seeds really sing sweetly, during the harvest time

    We harvested TONS of tomatoes and squash! Raspberries early in the summer. Pickling cucumbers! And we are an urban garden with a tiny nearly nonexistent land plot! It's the most we've harvested in the last four years ... I have been thanking the Land Spirit here EVERY DAY for Her Abundance ...

      Oh yeah! And peppers! And mushrooms! I am a brown thumb--but my lifemate is a forest satyr who seems to bring out the green in any soil ...

      Wow, it sounds like a fantastic season for you! It sounds like you and your partner have created a wonderful relationship with the land and soil you are working with. I'm sure the land spirits are happy you are there :D

    So timely, I only have a very small community garden plot but turned in compost and earth. Just put in some fall veggies. Living on a farm is a dream of mine.

      I still belong to a community garden. They are such wonderful places! I also think they make you a better gardener like learning to put in seasonal crops like you mentioned 😄

    I am planting some container greens to grow inside over the winter. Thanks so much for the ideas...I will definitely be adding more garden magic for my pots!

    This is such a great video! I’ve always lived in the city with minimal space but I do what I can in containers and even that is so rewarding.
    I’m really excited I found your channel! I follow a lot of magical CZcamsrs but I think you are the only Druidic one. I’ve always been so curious so I’m looking forward to watching your videos that touch on the subject.

      It's lovely having a new Saplung join our grove here! There aren't as many Druids on CZcams so I love when someone new or curious stops by. 😊 Container gardens are wonderful; got to get that soil where we can!

    Hey Danni, thanks for a cool video. Do you have any suggestions for books or articles on specific rituals or spells for gardens/ ecosystem health? Would love to read more on this topic.
    On a more practical note, just be careful with storing manure outside during the rainy season, as a lot of that nitrogen can leach out of your pile and into water systems that can cause eutrophication and all kinds of environmental damage.
    Love your videos, keep up the good work!

      Book recommendations include The Garden Witch Herbal and Magical Gardens.
      Perhaps it wasn't clear in the video, but the compost when it get moved outside has been already developing as deep litter in the barn for a year. The reason we spend so much time making the layers just right is to capture all the nitrogen in the straw as soon as possible. That severely limits the amount that could be leched when it's finishing outside. I don't know anyone who does large scale but not industrial composting who doesn't have to finish it outside. Brad and I are also certified Master Composters so we spend A LOT of time thinking and working with compost. We love it!

    I’m SUPER excited because I’m moving into my own place again after a year of living with a partner and a roommate. I’m also excited because it’s during pickling and canning season! I’m going to be making Kimchi, sauerkraut (fermented not vinegar pickled), and salsa!

      Kimchi is delicious!! I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of eating fermented sauerkraut, usually only see pickled! I’ve made kimchi so many times from living in Korea. Sooo good.

    Love this video, Dani! We also use the deep litter method and it makes the best compost for sure! I especially love how when using this method the composting lower layers let off heat, and in our small barn keeps our goats warm in the winter. This year was the first year I called on the spirits of our place and I really see the difference especially in the herbs I planted. Our pie pumpkins are ripening, we got a ton of beans, but our landlords cows got out a couple days ago and ate ALL our corn! 😭 Unfortunately I didn’t get most of my other regular veggies in this year...so no carrots, peas, onions, garlic, etc. There’s always next year. My herbs are doing AH-mazing! I’ve had three harvests of oregano, parsley, basil and rosemary, as well as chamomile, hyssop, thyme and comfrey (which made two batches of salve along with wild harvested plantain and dandelion).

    Honey! Hmm! I'll try that ... I offer many things to the Land and Nature Spirits but it's not always ... the most realistic offerings. I'm gonna try honey next time!

    Lovely video. I just got some blank inhalers and wicks this morning for doing healing Aromatherapy blends for putting in the First Aid Kit for the Herbalists Without Borders Herbal Clinics for the Winter. I will be making healing balms and cough remedies. There are rituals in Yoga that bless the Food and everyone who worked planting and harvesting the Food and for those who prepare the food to eat. It is believed they influence the quality of the food by their vibrations as well as what is physically done. Would be nice to have a sticker for that on the food. Blessed and loved every step of the way to the table. I will be doing some dehydrating projects. Got the Complete Idiot's Guide to Dehydration and some recipes from the Backpacker Chef. Hope you have a good harvest. /I\

    Do you have any tips and tricks for us non-green thumb Druids? I have great luck with animals, but my plants always die. I plant when it’s time, water accordingly, and they do well for a time. But inevitably, they slowly die. Is there a way you can tell what’s wrong with plants? Any rituals, prayers, a way to ask?

    • @DanniEsotericMoment
      @DanniEsotericMoment  Před 5 lety +1

      You could def ask the plants. I'd try getting a quiet moment where you can center yourself and tune in to the plant. Otherwise asking a local expert is good. Take a picture of where your plant is in your home, your plant, and head to a local greenhouse. Even good florist sections at grocery store might be harboring exquisite green thumbs.

      Danni Lang thank you so much! I love the idea of growing more of my own food, even if I am an urban girl (right now!). My husband came from the country and grew up growing his vegetables and raising animals for dairy or meat. I wish I did!

    Love this! Our small garden is producing tons of tomatoes, tomatillos, herbs and greens right now. And I've been canning tomatoes, making and freezing green salsa, and drying herbs to preserve. Also done a little bit of quick pickling!
    Do you have any recommendations for reading for inspiration for garden magic. I've only heard the term a couple of times, and this video just got me really intrigued. I'd love to learn more about how others work garden magic!

    Have you tried saving the silica packets from any new tech items (or anything that needs a moister absorber in the packaging to protect the product; I've even found these in organic kale chips) to help protect your seeds from moisture? Silica is just a part of earth that has been refined for a specific purpose, after all.

    • @DanniEsotericMoment
      @DanniEsotericMoment  Před 5 lety

      I've read about this tip before but never tried it myself. It does sound like a good reuse of the packet!

    • @scarletletter4900

      Danni Lang there also a load of nifty videos on how to "recharge" them once saturated to be found on CZcams; making the the packets "infinitely" reusable
