  • Another book review for your pleasure! I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. There is a good chunk that will be useful and fun for Druids and witches alike.

Lol I think we can all be a bit snarky about the Threefold Law, since so many people preach it like ancient gospel but it was really a concept introduced as a way to assure non-Pagans that we do have a moral and ethical compass of our own. Raymond Buckland had talked about it in various interviews while he was alive.
Also I said in another comment that I was surprised to hear you think the book is "beginner", but I think you just touched on it when asking our views on books for new practitioners talking about all the varied issues we need to be more aware of today. Most beginner books don't bother with in depth issues like that, and I became familiar with LTZ through blogs that had to do with social justice and activism, so I already associate it with a little bit "beyond beginner" stuff. But if this is a matter of redefining what we consider beginner, and actually teaching these important concepts right away to newbies, I'M SO HERE FOR IT! And I do plan to get this book very soon.
Thanks for the review, Danni! ⭐

That is a good point about what defines beginner books. I tend to put any book that is giving a broad overview in the beginning box. When I want to move past that while reading I'm looking for depth in one to three topics or something that builds on initial ideas.

      @@DanniEsotericMoment That makes sense!

@@DanniEsotericMoment I feel like a lot of authors feel a responsibility to give a broad overview in every book though, like I've said before. Because there's no way to monitor what order people are reading in, so someone could pick up your book as their first and not actually have any background knowledge. No prerequisites in solitary study lol. So I could see that being part of why so many books still include beginner material, too. Short of putting a big ol' "RECOMMENDED TO READ FIRST" list at the beginning, touching on all the basics is the best way to make sure readers aren't jumping ahead. The perils of not having a "teacher" as such.

Welcome! I will def keep posting once life calms down a bit. I'm over at Instagram more regularly in the meantime.
Cultural appropriation is a big topic, to large for a comment. But I try to avoid it and check my priviledge often. The key, I think, is that we aren't profiting from someone else's culture. I talk just a tiny bit about this in my ancestor video.

Your camera kept zooming in and out during this whole video. You might want to fix that. I felt I was tripping out.

Thanks for posting! I appreciate the videos you put up and the work it takes to make these reviews.
Consider turning off autofocus, it becomes distracting when you move slightly backwards/forwards and the focus shifts so frequently.

Hah! LOL! The camera keeps going back and forth from focusing on you, and your reflection in the mirror! I was watching it, and trying to figure out what I was noticing, and then I focused on the mirror and figured it out!
(I don't mean offense...just thought it could be helpful info for you--and I have a great sense of humor!)

No offense taken. I don't mind people making comments on the quality of video. There is only so much I can do so I don't stress about it. lol Just a tough lighting day when I was recording.
