One of these books is going to make the perfect birthday gift for my mother's upcoming birthday!
Your necklace is so pretty.
Oh, Danni, one delightful little book, inexpensive but full of beautiful ideas and enticing photos, is Success with Feng Shui for Your Garden. I bought my copy in 1999 and refer to it infrequently but repeatedly :) I have even given away copies, as it is so lovely. Feng Shui is also about creating balance and harmony, so this is a lovely aid to creating sacred space in your garden.
This year I bought a house and started SOME gardening. But I'm excited to garden more! I had my first lavendar bush and the lady I bought from had some overcrowded roses so we spent time getting rid of weeds and plants that overcrowded, and I harvested my own rose petals
Making your own from plants you grew is always such a pleasure. I hope your 2020 garden continues to inspire you!
I've not gardened in years. I use to with my mom when I was younger. She kept a flower garden and I remember her taking me and my brothers to pick out onces we liked. I always like the snap dragons :) Now my wife and I do potted plants on our porch and a few lilies and rose bushes on the side.
It's an oldie, but Garden Witchery: Magick from the Ground Up by Ellen Dugan is excellent. She's a practicing Wiccan as well as a Master Gardener, and she offers suggestions that can work for anyone: urban, suburban, small house, apartment, etc. She gives sample flower/plant bed layouts {a la Better Homes & Gardens} and suggestions for container gardens if all you have is a balcony or window ledge. She gives magical correspondences for many plants as well as suggestions for spells, charms, prayers/rituals for the Wheel of the Year and Gods/Goddesses associated with gardening/horticulture. It's not a big book but it packs a lot of information. Also Dugan has a very friendly, approachable style of writing.
I do like Ellen Dugan. I think I read that one ages ago but I should go back and check it out again as I don't remember much of it.
Oh thank you for this!!! I have three flower gardens and would like to create a fourth for vegetables and herbs. I never thought about searching for books to help me design one to fit my practice. I am always looking for new ideas. I am definitely going to check out the books by Mary Reynolds and Jessi Bloom.
Yay! I could see how the herb part of your fourth garden used magical herbs or the planting in a sacred shape. Can't wait to hear more when you start planting!
Thank you, Danni. I enjoy your video. I agree that Creating Sanctuary is one of the most relevant and user-friendly books around in terms of creating a magical sacred garden. (I love permaculture and for two decades have been growing a food forest, wildlife habitat, medic garden and a endemic species rainforest including groves, so my gardening interest is broad and I already own many wonderful books, but Jessi's book covers diverse territory in a very accessible way. It is photo-rich and relevant to my many gardening interests. This book even mentions Feng Shui :D Creating Sanctuary covers virtually everything I'm looking for and offers readers many helpful and manageable tips for creating their own sanctuary.
The Wild Braid by Stanley Kunitz is well worth seeking out. While not overtly spiritual or pagan in any way, it is a reflection on his life as an artist and gardener as he neared the age of 100.
I will look into it, sounds interesting!
Added Creating Sanctuary to my holds list at the Library. I am planning a big redesign for me small urban backyard so this came at an excellent time!
Yay! Tag me on instagram or other social as you work on it. I'd love to see it!
Love the whole vibe of this vid! Love u girl

Hi new subscriber here. I recently reinvigorated my study of druidry and bought a book you reviewed "The Path of Druidry" by Penny Billington. Really enjoying it so far. Really encouraging practical tangible improvements in my daily habits to line up more with druidic attitudes and also helped me achieve my first true shamanic connection t anwwn which was a very beautiful and encouraging experience for me so I wanted to thank you for the recommendation
Thank you for coming back and letting me know your thoughts on it; I love the updates! I've got a review coming on another book by penny Billington soon.
I have 4 of the 5 of these and love them. I also recommend Biodynamic Gardening: Grow Healthy Plants and Amazing Produce with the Help of the Moon and Nature#s Cycle
Biodynamics haven't really been something I've wanted to pursue. My dad worked for a local institution that taught such methods. Lots of wisdom in that system just not a good fit for us right now.
