  • It's always good to step outside of my box when it comes to exploring Druidry in a new way. Druid Magic was a good book; it will really appeal to the magicians out there. It just wasn't my absolute fav.

    Druid Magic is my most favorite Druid reference book. I worked through the entire book and the activities and it helped me to make the transition to Druidcraft and being a Witch Druid. I have incorporated the warding mentioned in the book with the Oghams with the further study of Danu Forest's Celtic Tree Magic and a traditional house blessing with a Raven in an illustration. I particularly enjoyed the Sacred Sexuality chapter. The references listed could keep you reading for a long time and I enjoyed the ways used to inspire the bards, which is reminiscent of isolation tank therapy and forest bathing. Also liked the team effort of what you bring to gatherings and what each person can contribute and the ability to settle disputes in a manner that is restorative. I feel it is a very layered book that covers a wide spectrum of Druidry. Very interesting review. /|\

      As I suspected, it's the perfect book for the RIGHT Druid! I'm so glad that it's been inspiring and useful to you. It's great to hear another perspective on the book. I know you do a bunch of reading, too. I've pinned your awesome comment so others will be able to find it easier. Thanks again for sharing!

    I'm trying to weed out my practice and simplify it and I wanted to combine some zen and Taoist practices so I've taken to drawing enso once every day

      Simplifying our practices can be super useful. I'm not sure I know what enso is though. Can you elaborate?

    Love your book reviews, I look forward to each one. Really hard to find reviews on Druid topics.

      I know! It can be so frustrating trying to figure out what is worth our time and resources. Lots of interesting things out there about Druidry, but not a lot from other Druids on whether it's worth it or not.

    I felt the same with The Druid Handbook by John Michael Greer,it was ok but as a Druid in the UK I struggled with the way he seemed to make it appear more like a church system which I can't understand.

      I can see that. I love that there are enough Druids we can publish all these diverse views on Druidry. But sometimes I'm bummed when I take the time to read one that so men for me. Too many books to read!

    Are there any Druid Witch books except this one (saw it and didn’t catch me) and Druidcraft by Phillip CG, that you’d recommend? Would you remember how does Phillip Carr-Gomm connects elements to the compas? Like don’t search for it just for me, just in case you have it in your head straight away :D Because that is the hardest part for me who was starting on the typical Wiccan model of the circle to suddenly feel elements on different places. I don’t want to write the whole book here, so hope you know what I mean, but if not, I will gladly explain more :) Thanks!

      Sure, so most OBOD druids connect the elements to the cardinal directions in the following way: East/Air, South/Fire, West/Water, and North/Earth. I think that should be similar to many Wiccan practices. Remember that Gerald Garner (Wicca) and Ross Nichols (Druidry) were good friends and heavily influenced by each other.
      I haven't found other books that tie Witchcraft and Druidry together besides this one and Druidcraft, yet. If I come across any, I'll let you know though!

      Great thanks, I might read the druidcraft meanwhile, since the elements are the same so. But, I believe I have the notes from your video Ritual in druidry, where I wrote down North/fire, south/water, west/air and east/earth... hmmm, how did I get this information :O Ofcourse it’s up to the personal preference which element to connect which direction, I don’t think that one version is better or more right than another, it’s mainly because I work with the Wiccan based system for so long that it would be against my intuition or personal archetypal symbology to switch it. But thanks a lot!

      hmmm. . . I mean it's possible I misspoke in an older video. I re-watched that Ritual in Druidry video and didn't hear that match, but who knows! I say go with what your intuition is telling you. :)

      Yes, a library book for me for sure. However, you'll see in the other comments that some people just adore it and found it to be super useful. For the right Druid, it's the best. For me, it was meh.

      This book appeals more European type Druids here in the UK. I love this book.

    Personally, I think the author's book a bit biased with people who are not born in celtic lands or have no celtic blood in practicing druidism. In the beginning of the book, she tells about a man in an aeroplane and asks him whether he is Irish or not, because he could not see her passing through the wall. Very strange, actually! In my opinion druidry is for all, no matter from where you are or your genetics come from. According to history the Celts were reencarnationists so you may have been celtic in another life. Awen!!!

    • @DanniEsotericMoment
      @DanniEsotericMoment  Před 5 lety +1

      That is an excellent point! I totally agree that Druidry is for all and has no requirement when it comes to genetics or culture of origin.
