"I wonder if anyone will ever know about the emptiness of my life. Or wonder about me and ask themselves what manner of man I was. How to ever tell them, how to ever explain. How to say I never found love, how to say it was all my fault. Who can say where it all goes wrong?"
- Kenneth Williams
"... And the way that Shelley puts it, 'We are a portion of everything we've ever loved.' And I think it is those loves that form the tissue if you like of belief and faith. Because acting is all about faith. Performing is making an act of faith, believing you can create reciprocity between the auditorium and the stage.
And that's why when the atheist says 'what if life's pointless, what if it's all a joke?' It has to be answered by the comedian, 'well, if it is a joke, let's make it a good one.'"
- Kenneth Williams
"Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
- William Shakespeare

Williams didn't find Halliwell half as annoying as Halliwell found Orton...........
he wasn't any where near that tall
I find my self constantly time travelling back to the seventies and eighties, good old Ken I miss him
Loved it when he used to read on Jackanory
Charles Hawtrey once tried to seduce George Best at a party
WE ALL GREW up Ie. CARRY ONS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC COMEDY
It's amazing to hear Ken distancing himself from the gay world referring to "these queens" and "homosexuals" as though he wasn't one! I know that he had to be careful professionally not to out himself or be "outed" but it's the deliberate way he does it.
As far as I’m aware, it was something about himself he was never comfortable with. He wished it away and often felt defeated that it wouldn’t go. Sweetly, he proposed to Maggie Smith, and she was so kind to him.
I absolutely love Kenneth Williams!!! Such an amazing voice, personality and creative mind!!! RIP Ken 🙏🏻❤️X
I have always admired and loved dear Kenneth.Such a gentle soul and so so talented.Left this world far far too early.Always thinking of you Kenneth.I can just imagine how you are all making them laugh upstairs God rest your dear soul love you always Jeremy Allfrey.
Greatest of them all
The way she walks
Where's matron?
Robert Stephens was brilliant speaking those diary entries. I think Kenneth poisoned his father.
Is there any chance of getting part 3
They brought us so much pleasure all of them as a child of the 70s ! It’s such a shame some of them had deep troubles and some died so young god rest them all and thank you all ! May you rest in peace !
Isn't he bold
I'm not sure you can say it was obvious Thar Kenny killed himself
His voice is better than Benson's.
The 4 men most associated with the carry ons are kenneth williams 26 charles hawtrey 23 sid james 19 and kenneth connor 17 frankie howard wasnt that much associated with them he was only in 2
Two brilliant actors
I really like KW. I wish he could have been happier. He certainly had a talent for making others happy.
Adam Godley really plays Kenneth as the kid who reminds the teacher of homework.
:)))
I would love to know what the "Leader" music is he listened to 🤔 I've wondered about that for years.
What pathetic, petty arsehole had this show edited before it's release on the Complete Bilko box set?
Its him ,its Kenneth
What an actor, jusy after watching him as brian clough ,then nixon ,then this with a few Guiness, wow
Best kenneth williams impression I've ever heard
Is there any actor in English Theatre that isn't homosexual?
Such an erudite man. His talent was largely wasted on the screen.
I’m 28 years old my grand parents had these on VHS video
This is wonderful to watch. Always loved Kenneth Williams and miss him greatly.
Kenneth Williams was a frustrated gay man, living a double life, he self loathed himself and what he truly was. Sad man.
Aww matron keep them away😂😂
Ken Williams..One of the Greatest!
Actually, the audience kept on laughing and laughing as if it was still part of the act.
Samantha Spiro was fantastic as Barbara Windsor - and even better on stage than in the TV adaptation. It's a shame she's mostly ended up playing second fiddle to others in subsequent TV shows. Someone with her comic ability should really have had her own show. But the UK has never really made much of it's best female comic talents.
Kenneth williams, Brian Clough, David Frost, Chris Tarrant... Sheen is superb in all of them! Can't fault him!
1:24 Where?
Biggest puff in the business! One for the adults there as this was a kids tv show!!😅
His talent was a force of nature ... he thought he was constrained by the Carry-Ons, but he was master of the entire theatrical gamut.
Great😂
Beautiful
Yes the Censor Who became the Father in law to x Glasgow Gangster /Artist/Author Jimmy Boyle
Loved em and always will. To me they are as British as a fry up and crap weather. RIP the Carry On team ❤
I'm not convinced he was held back or repressed. Some people are introverts who value privacy but have trained themselves to be extroverts in public, to entertain or teach or otherwise function with others -- as a role or performance. I believe that he dressed and acted as he did by choice. He was no unhappier than most people, just a bit more eccentric in his own unique way.
"Are you ready, Agatha?" Kenneth Williams' beautiful diction is gorgeous!
The devil loves homosexual sex, which is an outrage against everything that is pure and holy
The very best & finest of British comedy! Bravo! 😊
Frankie Howerd shouldn't be counted. He only appeared twice, what about Kenneth Connor, or Bernard Bresslaw, or Peter Butterworth, were they not scandalous for the documentary. Miriam Margoyles described Terry Scott as 'nasty' so he too, should be mentioned. What a funeral voice the woman has, can she be invited to mine?
