I feel sorry for the guy. He was lonely . The drink was to take that feeling away I guess. He was gay but who cares today. In those times it was looked upon as evil. He was a well known celebrity so very difficult for him to have a relationship and hide it. Very sad.

Williams may have been something in a snob but he spent a great deal of time on the streets of London and would chat/argue with road workers, shop keepers etc.
