- Hugely entertaining documentary, broadcast 31st December 1984 on BBC 2, about The Phil Silvers Show, aka just "Bilko". Includes numerous clips from various episodes and excerpts of interviews with the late, great, Phil Silvers.
... Narrated by the late, great, Kenneth Williams. They of course worked together in 1967's "Carry On ... Follow That Camel", Phil Silvers replacing Sid James who was recovering from a heart attack.

Two great comedians - Silvers and Williams.

As a consequence of his magnificent portrayal the wonderful Phil Silvers morphed into the unique Bilko.

They worked together, but althogh Kenny appreciated him for being this legend - he also desposed him for using idiot cards instead of learning his lines.
Williams was not worthy to suck his shit.

I agree. Look at Steve Martin, very funny actor, but he wasn't Phil Silvers.
It's a pity this documentary was heavily edited for the DVD set but it's better than nothing.

Having read the Diaries It seemed over time he learned to put up with him, Besides money talks
Kenneth was obviously far too complex for you to comprehend. He found Silvers a bore to work with, but that does not mean he did not appreciate his achievements.
