I was a child when this AWESOME show was on. On DECEMBER 24,1963, Idlewild was renamed JFK. My family traveled quite a bit. About 20yrs or more, my sis & I going to our basement found some Jurassic items & 1 of em was a luggage tag with both Pan Am & Idlewild. We asked some people where it was, surprise, lol.

I always loved this comedy program about a fictitious police precinct in New York City. A squad of NYPD Cops, principally Officers Tootie and Muldoon, supported by a small cast of great comedic actor cops. Nipsey Russell and future Grandpa from the Munster's tv comedy that came several years later. I love the "old time" NYPD cars, the uniforms that male and female cops wore in the late 50's. I started in law enforcement in 1971 and female officers wore a different type uniform than what the male officer wore. In the 1950's the female officers wore a blouse and skirt type uniform with plain black leather female shoes, different from the boots that males wore. The .38 Service Revolvers that were carried by cops all over in those times. Usually a Colt Official Police or a Smith & Wesson Model 10. Both gun models in blue steel finish, fixed sights, and a four-inch barrel wearing wood grips. Most of the large city PD's mirrored the equipment and uniforms that NYPD used. Rural agencies tended to use the .357 magnum as opposed to the .38 Special. Car 54 just made my day, the times I got to see it. Seeing the reruns on CZcams means I can view at my leisure. Getting older ain't no picnic, but viewing those great tv programs of the past makes an old retired cop feel better and reflect on pleasant memories of being a young cop back on the beat again. I appreciate, so much, the posting of the Car 54 series. Nostalgia runs deep with some!

GlennHa, Jamie Farr is not in this episode. It was character actor Al Nesor. They just look a bit alike.

Great stuff love it. We got to get all the Munsters back on here there is a great kind of a documentary on here about the Munsters. I'll have to watch it again I do not think that they ever even mentioned The Addams Family which seems wrong. Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis all day baby

Also spotted "Klinger" (Jamie Farr) from MASH at 11:27. I remember watching this episode as a kid when it first came out. The original TV shows all had great character actors with superb comedic timing. That's because TV was originally centered in New York and inherited actors from vaudeville and radio.

According to another post it's Al Nesor as Harry “The Hawk” Carson (“I got the layout”) although it does look like Jamie, maybe his dad lol.
