This is one of the trades of all time

The Kraken have displayed some troubling constants over the past 3 seasons. 1) Trouble breaking out of the D zone. 2) Trouble cleanly entering the O zone. 3) Sloppy passing all over the ice. No improvement of these issues in 3 seasons is a coaching fault.

This is not a playoff team no matter who is behind the bench.

I want to see a coach that’s actually transparent and makes changes when they are needed. We need goals to win games.

Hindsight being 20/20 and all, but I think when they brought Wright, Winterton, and Morrison up and Hakstol was so quick to say that it WASN'T a message to the veterans, I think that was a telling moment.

I get that hockey coaches are plugged in and out of teams all the time but I don’t believe it’s on Hak. The guy got us to game 7 in round 2 last year and signed the extension. The players we have didn’t execute at the level they should have. Idk, not sure Hak was the issue. More likely lack of talent (aside from goaltending)

Rod Brind'amour is the coach with those blended traits you mentioned RJ. He demands high effort but has fostered a culture of support and communication. Every Hurricane loves to play hard for RBA. Rod would be phenomenal for the Kraken. Instant chemistry and fan/media support. Slam dunk excellent candidate.

I do hope that Briere is retained. As far as coaches, sure Keefe would be bad but better than Tortorella. I would not mind seeing Joel Ward at least in the conversation.

I'm a bit surprised Dave Tippett's name isn't being thrown around more, given that he's in the organization already.

Given Hakstoll's grinding style of checking and the toll it can take on a team I'm not all that surprised they did this. They'll have more options as to style of play as they procure a more skilled roster, but going thru coaches can just be part of the process, unfortunately. Dan Blysma is the obviouse nest up. We'll see how that goes............

Of note: ESPN's "The point" just said multiple players told management that they d didn't want to play here if Dave Hakstol was still the coach. Didn't know how much we can trust reporting from across the country, but makes you wonder...

The Admirals series was the only one the Firebirds played last postseason that didn't go to the maximum number of games (6 of a maximum 7).

He didn't need to be changed for any of the reasons you've analyzed. Sadly I've become more and more disenfranchised with this podcast as it's become more and more clear how uninformed the takes are. I've all but stopped listening. Got about 3 minutes in before bailing on this one.

Praying that The panthers humiliate the Lightning tonight and Jon Cooper is able to look to other Horizons in yhe near future.

If they bring in a new coach , that coach still has to deal with a no talent roster and Ron Francis' blunders.

They don't re-sign Sprong or Donato thereby leaving 30 plus goal out of the offense, then sign Yamamoto to make up the difference. It didn't work, so is the GM to blame? It's all part of a longer process. Managing the cap, finding those skilled players who can take over ice, it takes time. Wright should be up here next season, Frances has stated he'll be looking to bolster offense, so be patient Kraken fans and look for those young pups coming up like Yagger Firkus.

You guys have reached another level with this episode! Breaking down all the reasons why this season was so disappointing point by point but still remaining very professional. It’s all about the young guys so I hope Ron is basing his decisions that way. Hakstol has shown how he favors veterans over youth so I really think a coaching change is the right move. Guess we’ll all have to wait and see what happens.

If we stick with Hakstol it will be extremely disappointing. We have a talented roster and I am a huge believer in Shane Wright. The lack of a scheme showed and is quite honestly inexcusable for a head coach. If we got someone in there who gave the team a clear direction there is no reason we are not back in the playoffs next year.

The Kraken are a better team than they showed this season. Burakovsky at 16 points is not going to happen again. Everyone on a down shooting year is not going to happen again. The two big problems I saw this year were the lack of top end scoring showing and the team not adjusting play to get out of losing streaks. During the second 8 game stream our D and backcheck were letting people skate right through them. It seems like such a simple adjustment to tighten that up and take the body, but they just kept swinging sticks in and missing, leading to prolonged time in our D zone. That is why I am now okay with a change to staff. The roster is so close though. Don't see anyone in free agency that will be worth the cost other than Duclair and maybe a smaller, cheaper piece like Danton Heinen or someone like that.

IIRC during the 2023 wjc when team Canada suffered a bad loss, Wright was the one who called his fellow teammates out and got them motivated (with them eventually winning gold of course). Now is way too soon, but I would like to see him wear the 'C' for the kraken in the future

Entire coaching discussion without mentioning Bylsma. He deserves it anyway but might be forced to promote him or have him walk away to another situation (ie Ottawa or Toronto). The idea that they’re going to run back this roster while only adding SW and one other sent shivers down my spine. More turnover needed. Dunn is their top trade chip and would bring the greatest return

Change needs to be done with the head coach.and the roster needs to be modified as well.part of me wants to go younger we definitely need more goal scorers

I understand the comments about Hakstol and fans wanting him gone but the difference between Hakstol and those other coaches is that the Kraken are an expansion team. I am torn on Hakstol

Fuck it. Poach Clayton Keller and put him on a line with Shane Wright. Give up this year's 1st and 2nd round along with a player from the roster. He signed an 8 year contract with ARIZONA, not Utah. NTC kicks in next year. The time is now.

In regards to who can go via a trade to get a star player, even though that you guys mainly talked about picks and prospects, don’t rule out guys already on the roster. Outside of maybe McCann or Beniers, everyone else can be movable to get that star player. Dreyfuss made that controversial comment earlier about trading McCann plus more for a star player, but if that’s your best option, then you gotta do it.

Im curious, why do we look at the the Sonics coming back as a bad thing for the Kraken?? Two sports teams in the same building is a marketing dream for ownership in my opinion. If you could leverage crossover appeal from on the the other and vice versa, then it'd be a win win. Just look at the NY rangers and the NY Knicks. Same owner; one building. And now the Jazz owner will have an NHL team too. Crossover season ticket bundles, collaboration events in the off-season, climate pledge joint league commercials, ect I think the re-emergence of the sonics is can be leverage to not be a net negative for the Kraken. Just some friendly pondering.

So...the hockey guy agrees with me in that the kraken took a step back due to poor personnel decisions...agree or disagree Dylan?

Hey y’all, much respect coming here but Everett’s broadcast w/ JT was historic for the entire league and so many barred from the sport for so long. The first all black television broadcast. I understand it may not be historic in your household but it is for the team and league so please read up. My partner is a black hockey fan, who has dealt with micro aggressions at game, and she still talks about the greatness of that night.

the Matthews-McDavid talk was fun, but imagine Matthews-McDavid-Kucherov as a line. McD handles entries and draws the defense away, Matthews sets up in the low slot if McDavid's center lane drive fails and, if McDavid wants to make a pass, you would have Nikita Kucherov with time and space along the half wall to feed either of them.

Agggh you 2 being in the same room really span me out for a second haha! 😆 Love it though & definitely do it more 🐙⚓️
