I am a bit surprised to hear talk of rebuilding for the Kraken. This year has been a bit disappointing, as I was hoping for playoff hockey. Looks like we are likely to fall short but that doesn't mean we don't have a solid team with increasing possibilities over the next couple of seasons. We aren't freakin' Vegas here. I'd rather have a solid team atmosphere built the right way. Yes, move the UFAs but don't tear it all down before it is built.
Excellent podcast!!! You start talking reasonably without trying to be positive about Kraken season. I believe in Kraken future, and agree, we don’t need rebuild that can kill fun base
I think with Eberle, it is partly the entertainment side. Eberle was arguably the most “household name” player we got in the draft. Combine with his leadership, that he wants to stay here, his 1000th game coming up and how he performed last year and in the playoffs, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s extending a couple of yrs but at a little less considering his production this year.
How do you get more fans with the 3rd highest ticket prices in the NHL, and TV games buried in $100+ dinosaur cable TV package? More people watch the PWHL games than the Kraken
😂😂😂 no. The entirety of the PWHL audience is on CZcams. Way more people watch on cable and Fubo. If you’re going to get angry, at least make sure you have your facts straight.
@@krakenspectacor I'm not sure viewership numbers say much about how many fans are out there. I watch (mostly) via ESPN+ and I'd imagine a lot of other people do, too. I would assume that folks like me don't show up in the Root viewership numbers.
We actually do. The 13,000-14,000 number counts ESPN+ viewership (according to the source we asked at the time the numbers came out). That's partly why the number is so scary to me. I agree with the original poster here, making games more accessible would be a big deal for the Kraken. -Dylan
It’s interesting that you call out 3-5 yr rebuild is effective. I feel like it’s exactly the opposite. Arizona anyone? I think it WAS the way but hasn’t been as reliable. You also ignored we basically did what the rebuild usually does. We have two top 4 picks in consecutive years. We had a ton of draft capital the first two seasons. We basically are on the outside of our “rebuild” and all the expiring contracts over the next two years just helps you there. We’re looking at a team that can be completely remade after next year around our high picks that are starting to come onto the next. You spent way too long being doom and gloomy about a rebuild that ISN’T HAPPENING.
RJ, you really have to take everything Friedman says with a grain of salt. He often speculates without labeling it properly. You’re WAY overweighting what he said about Eberle and the 1000 games. Our PK was awful without Tanev but we also had others injured. Tanev is irreplaceable but you could probably cope. The problem with using global stats is they don’t tell you match. Next time pull the stats without and without him.
How do you rebuild when your 2nd draft class hasn’t even played in the NHL yet? Sheesh. If they aren’t Cup competitive after 8/10 years maybe but come on. Just stop pretending that 25 point centers are indispensable
gets increasingly more sad the longer you listen
Deep Dive Curse strikes again 😭😭😭😭

Ron is risking his job on the promise of a rebound next year if he doesn't deal the pending UFAs.

@@emeraldcityhockey5810 sure but his initial assertion that the pwhl is watched more is laughably false
