As a Chargers fan who is still haunted by the 2021 win-or-go home game against the Raiders (and watching numerous other Mariners seasons fall just short of the playoffs), I suggest you tread carefully on late season coverage being more exciting and preferable when it’s going down the wire like that. It’s only fun if your team ends up winning, and my teams often don’t!😂😂

I don’t think it’s only fun if your team ends up winning - it’s the compete that’s fun. Yeah, it’s more fun if your team ends up winning, but if your team has to win in order for the sport to be fun to you, then I don’t see the point in watching it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I both agree and disagree with your point. I believe there’s a difference when a team comes up short when they played their best versus when they don’t. Look at how the Mariners missed the playoffs in 2021 versus 2023. In 2021, they played their best despite losing in the end, but they underperformed in 2023. As a result, the mood in 2023 is completely different despite being the same result as 2021. When the team is playing their best down the stretch, then I totally agree with you win or loss (like the Stars series last year). But it’s a different story when the team isn’t doing their best down the stretch, and there are teams out there who’re more prone to the latter than former. Your thoughts?

The ownership needs to make the decision if winning a stanley cup in 6 or so years is more important than year 3 season ticket holders. And then, Ron Francis needs to make the decision for the Kraken. There is no reason to leave the decision to sell up to the players in a wild card race.
He's watched them play all season. He watched them last season. There's nothing that makes me think that if they made it then they could make a deeper run than last year. I can't imagine he feels much different this year.
Getting nothing out of possibly not making the playoffs isn't an option. Standing pat and wasting good cause for gaining assets is cause for firing imo. Of at least someone who sits higher than HC.
I love this team and its the reality of the situation.
Edit: i do believe that even after selling off what we can and who is willing to leave, that the message to players is to still make that push! We have fought through adversity for 3 years. Its no different. Bring in Wright and Evans. Pressure makes diamonds.

The thing I've been thinking the last few games is Dunn has to be hurt. He is just invisible lately.

Not moving these UFAs out is the road to years of mediocrity. There are young guys who are ready for their NHL apprenticeship some of whom are probably better than the vets they would replace right now

Sell, sell, sell. There is not any elite talent to match up with top teams. 4 lines of 2nd and 3rd liners is a nice story but won't win a Cup
